  • "Steel and Rye was lovely for dinner. I've been for brunch and drinks before, but not dinner. The atmosphere is warm and eclectic. Even sitting inside feels as though you are dining outside, with the big garage doors wide open. The menu is great (including creative cocktails), and the staff are friendly. Looking around the room, you can see all your fellow diners having an excellent time as well. Thanks so much for a great night!"

  • "Have been here several times and it never fails to impress. The food, service and the restaurant space all contribute to an experience that you will be happy with. I have been as a party of 2 and other party sizes up to 8 as well as a private function with 50 plus in the back room, all were great. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "I had the steamed mussels as an appetizer and they were so tasty. The broth with chorizo would have been a great soup by itself. I was able to mop it up with the generous thick slice of grilled bread. For my entreé I enjoyed the double cut pork chop. It was an enormous chop that was close to 4 inches thick and was cooked to perfection and very juicy. Often pork chops are dry and chewy not this on. It was accompanied with a "slaw" of cabbage and jjicama and soy seasoned. Absolutely wonderful."

  • "My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our 28th anniversary. All of the food, from the homemade bread to fresh creamed corn with my Cape Cod Grilled Flounder was absolutely delicious. I recommend highly, and I'm not usually that easy to please."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Steele and Rye. We chose it because of the interesting menu and we wanted to dine outside. Unforrunately, it was pouring, so we were inside. The wine list was interesting, too. Our server, Sarah, was very knowledgable and had the perfect mix of there when you needed her, but not intrusive. the food was great! My only complaint would be the noise level."

  • "Sunday brunch is a *must* here. Potato pancake was filling, with a generous amount of smoked salmon and sour cream to complement the heavy starch. My friend had the french toast, which arrived fully loaded in a quaint metal dish. Be wary of sitting in the patio area - there are no umbrellas or shade, so you get the full tanning experience and that can be uncomfortable for some. Very affordable, lovely decor, a real neighbourhood gem."

  • "I keep trying to give Steel & Rye a chance but I never 'love' it. It is very very loud so if you are in a group you will eventually end up yelling at each other. The food is good but I still find it odd that they serve hamburgers in what appears to be a prison tray."

  • "This restaurant is simply amazing. I was very happy with my amazing pork chop and my house cabernet. This next comment is not about the restaurant. I was dumbfounded when I heard an infant screaming in the background behind me. I still will never understand why new parents bring their tiny infant children to very expensive restaurants with incredibly tasty food that has been prepared by amazing talent? As soon as I saw "kid friendly" on the board above this thought came back to me."

  • "I love the ambiance, and the service is friendly and professional, but the menu is odd and overpriced - a $16 burger that doesn't even come with lettuce and tomato? The best thing I've had so far is the iceberg lettuce salad, but I'm glad I shared it with another person."

  • "Theirs is definitely a limited menu - and they love to put smoke flavoring in almost everything - so it is sometimes a challenge to order. HOWEVER, every meal I have ever gotten is DELICIOUS. This time, I got the Colorado lamb and hubby the burger and we both couldn't have been happier. Kudos to the bartender for making a perfect tequila mojito. Service, as always, was excellent."

The food is very well prepared, and sauces, gravies, spices, etc are NOT overdone but truly enhance the very fresh food which is the mainstay of the restaurant. The menu selection is well thought out, and the chef does a great job of blending together different flavors in such a way that it all fits rather than seeming strange and unusual. This is now our #1 restaurant or fine dining."

  • "Party of 8--all had different appetizers which we enjoyed, especially the Griiled Flatbread and the Potato Chips. Two people had burgers- both agreed the flavor was "okay" but not special. I had the Fusilli, the flavor was "okay" ( there's that word again) but the pasta was over cooked. Other meals were very good. Service, as always, was excellent."

  • "We've been to Steel & Rye before, but this was our first time for brunch. This is a great place to go when you want a civilized, relaxing brunch with an interesting cocktail menu and individually prepared, beautifully plated meals (no trays of cold, self-serve scrambled eggs here). Everything was outstanding. We started with the amazing pork terrine and the toast with jam. Then we had the steak and eggs, the omelet of the day, the eggs Benedict, and the French toast (with bourbon maple syrup - yum). We ended the meal by sharing a doughnut. The hot and iced coffees were delicious. The staff is friendly, competent, and professional. Steel & Rye continues to be the best restaurant in Milton and comparable to the best in Boston."

  • "We enjoyed a great family meal recently at Steel and Rye. We were a party of 10 with three school-age kids and we had a reservation for 4:30pm. The food was fantastic, as were the drinks and wine offerings, and the service was exceptional. We were seated at the oval table right next to the kitchen and had a wonderful family dinner. The place is kid-friendly but the grown ups didn't have to settle for boring food. A big hit with everyone!"

  • "I like the food here but they charge too much for it, give real small portions and it is just not fantastic - very good but not great. Plus the wines by the glass are too limited - there is only one chardonnay and it is $12. Same for the reds - no red zinfandel and only one cab. The draft beer list is very good so they got that right. We like the restaurant but there is nothing compelling enough to come back for. I hope they don't evolve in to another Abby Park."

We ordered off of the menu and were treated to wine pairings by course. For the main course, one wine didn't fit all, so we received two! The server was very understanding of the situation and treated us well all evening."

Kudos to the kitchen. Apps were stellar and the two homemade pasta dishes were stunning. Flavor was perfect. I'm not one for sweets but every once in a while, but I can say I was moved by the "Snickers" in a bowl. It takes a lot for me to embrace sweets as I'd rather have a third savory course. This unique adaptation of that quintessential flavor profile was beyond! Again, cheers!!!!"
