Decor is beautiful, amazing job on the design. Food was terrible and overpriced for what we got. Ordered steak which came in 4 or 5 pieces, smothered in onions, cheese and veg to the point I had to search to find the steak. And that's what I got for $34. The ninety-nine probably has a better steak.

I booked a table at Steel and Rye to have an anniversary dinner with my wife. I didn't mention that it was our anniversary when booking, but did mention it when I arrived. My waitress helped by getting oysters, fried olives and a bottle of Sancerre to the table before my wife arrived... and the service was exemplary during the entire meal, with waitress, bus-person (?) and a roving host all stopping by to keep things tip-top. Food was delicious - cod for my wife, pasta for me. We ordered a dessert (de-constructed snickers - delicious and really interesting) only to find that the house brought us complimentary glasses of prosecco and a little lemon souffle to split. I was stuffed! Great meal all around.

Had a great dinner. Food was delicious. The ambiance is very interesting. My only negative was the waitress stayed on one side of the table taking our orders. She was not able to hear myself and the person sitting on the opposite side. The waitress should have came over to the our side of the table. We had to repeat ourselves several times. It was very annoying. It happened every time we ordered.

Very eclectic interior with lots of reclaimed wood, steel and lights. The young woman who greeted us was friend and showed us to our table promptly as soon as it was ready. The service is excellent as each section has a number of servers that work as a team to get you more water, drinks and whatever else you need. The only down side was the food. The carne asada was tasty but not hot enough, the bib salad was excellent while the various appetizers we tried were either good or bad. The fried olives and homemade potato chips were disappointing while the lamb meatballs were very good.next time I will avoid the things we did not like.

The hamburger was good but not a best buy at $16. Bread (anadama?) not particularly tasty. The pasta dish was very good. I had my mouth all set for squash blossoms with ricotta but that was no longer on the menu even though it was on the website. Cappuccino was very good. Did not have room for dessert. I've been to S&R for drinks and appetizers which I found quite good. I'll have to try the brunch.

We chose S & R for my 50th birthday and was underwhelmed. Service was outstanding but the food was not what I expected. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. It just wasn't memorable for the right reasons. The blueberry cobbler was creative but not in a better way than the traditional method. It tasted like Sugar Pops were crushed on it. The Carne Asada was good but I have certainly had better at other places. Ceviche was good but again, have had better.

We had a great evening with delicious food, great wine, attentive service and an electric atmosphere. It was packed for a good reason! I especially loved the decor...it is amazing to think this was the Fallon Ambulance headquarters at one time. This is the place to be on a Saturday night without the hassle of going into Boston.

We heard the restaurant was great from friends so we stopped on the way back to the city for dinner. The ambiance was nice even though it was busy and it felt like a great spot in the south end but bigger. The only problem was the wait staff was slow and very mute to the point where we could barely hear them and our main waiter only came around twice. Also the food looked and sounded like a great south end spot in the city but we didn't think the chef was up for it and combined too many ingredients in each dish. Both entrees tasted like they just spilled vinegar on them actually even though they were lobster and pork chop dishs

We enjoyed our dinner on Saturday night. We weren't seated until 20+ minutes after our reservation time, which was disappointing. Once we were sat, service was great and the food was very good. Prices seem a bit high for outside the city and small portions, but it's a nice place for a special occasion.

We've been to Steel and Rye a couple of times, which we have enjoyed previously, and made a Saturday evening reservation. This visit was significantly worse than any other experiences. Despite several empty tables in our area, the server was totally inattentive, taking at least 15 minutes after we arrived before even getting our drink order. When our entrees arrived, the tuna steak was cold to the touch. By the time I got the server's attention I wasn't interested in getting another entree. Even after we sent back the plate (which I have only done a handful of times in my life), the server continued to ignore our table. The dessert was underwhelming as well. Not sure when we'll return.

This was our second visit to Steel and Rye and it was great. We invited some Boston friends to join us as the restaurant was halfway between us. They thought it to be a nice idea. We met at the bar and each enjoyed a different cocktail made with much care by one of the talented bartenders. We then took our seat- a great booth by the window. We ordered a bottle of Sancere for the table and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and desserts. The skirt steak was delicious as well as the corn soup. I highly recommend the chocolate cherry dessert. A nice time had by all.

We ate every bite of each meal because it was so good. One problem is we where never asked if we wanted coffee after the meal. The waitress {Kaitlin} gave us our bill which seemed corrrect $54.57 so I gave her the gift card and she left. When she came back she handed me the receipt and circle how much was left on the gift card

Had a pleasant celebration brunch. The seating was generously spaced, I didn't feel hemmed in by my companions or the other tables around me. The service was fantastic and friendly, always attentive to refilling my glass and fulfilling requests. There was a varied selection of tasty items. The oyster p'oh boy I had was tasty, but the oysters were too few or the bread too generous, there wasn't a distinctive layering of flavors. The pulled pork in the omlette was deliciously smokey. The desert was refreshing and sweet w/o being overwhelmingly sugary and covered in sauce. Overall had a wonderful experience, but the music could be lessened just a bit.

I had the steamed mussels as an appetizer and they were so tasty. The broth with chorizo would have been a great soup by itself. I was able to mop it up with the generous thick slice of grilled bread. For my entreé I enjoyed the double cut pork chop. It was an enormous chop that was close to 4 inches thick and was cooked to perfection and very juicy. Often pork chops are dry and chewy not this on. It was accompanied with a "slaw" of cabbage and jjicama and soy seasoned. Absolutely wonderful.
