A word from Steamworks Gastown
Since we first opened in 1995, Steamworks has been a favourite of Vancouver locals and visitors alike. Whether you're joining us for lunch, a drink after work, or a group dinner with friends and colleagues, we're honoured to have you with us.

Steamworks gets its name from the famous Gastown steam line that runs through our premises. Our onsite brewery uses steam to fire its kettles. The instant heat of steam allows for greater brewing finesse, and most importantly great tasting beer. Whether you're in the mood for a thirst quenching Lions Gate® lager, or a full bodied HeriocaTM Oatmeal Stout, we've got a beer to please your palate.

What can I say. We love this place, and we went there twice in two weeks. Excellent service, happy employees (it shows to the customers when the employees are happy, for all the other restaurants out there). Great choices for food, and great choices of locally brewed beer. THANKS for another great experience a the Steamworks Gastown !!!

I'm so glad I listened to a friend's recommendation. Food was great, came quickly, tasty and reasonably priced. Good selection of appetizers as well. We booked for a group so couldn't get the patio, maybe because we didn't specify. Service was great, good advice on drinks & beer pairings. Looking forward to another visit. Don't look for a parking garage, there is parking at the same location, you might be lucky & get it too.

I have been to Steamworks many times over the years of working downtown and always found it to be a great, hospitable venue for staff get togethers, and visitor meet ups. The location is great for views as well as transportation, being right next to the Waterfront station. The atmosphere is cozy with a bright yet comfortable feel. Even on the busiest days, I have always been able to find a seat. The menu has options for all tastes and the food arrives quickly and the service has always been the best.

I really enjoyed my lunch with Steamworks Brewing Company. I like the pub because it has a live, bubbly, cheerful, fun, British atmosphere. The view of the water makes it very scenic. The waiter was very kind and went beyond his job to accommodate us. We requested additional tartar sauce, he brought it to our table. We told him it was my fortieth birthday and requested cake, he brought us an amazing slice of cake that my parents and I enjoyed. The waiter is a valuable resource. He helps create the perfect pub atmosphere because he is British and pubs are really big in Britain. One of the other waiter's noticed my mother taking a picture and instantly offered to take the picture so she could be in it with my father and I.

We had eaten here once before and my Salmon Burger and husbands Brew Burger were delicious, beer outstanding. This time, I ordered the Fish Tacos. I love fish tacos. I did not like these Fish Tacos. It came wrapped up like a burrito with battered fish and one leaf of lettuce. The first bite I took, my fish fell out the other side of the burrito, along with that single piece of lettuce. the wrap was also cold and pretty dry, as if it had been left out awhile. I finished one wrap, and then opened the second and scooped out the fish in the remaining piece, since I was still hungry. If we come back, I might have to stick with the Salmon Burger.

Brought a group of 5 professional colleagues, 3 of them 1st time to Vancouver, to dinner at your restaurant. Made a reservation beforehand. I had been to your restaurant beforehand & enjoyed the ambience and the food. Imagine my embarrassment when we were taken downstairs, where surroundings not only are 2nd rate to upstairs but were seated in the worst possible place, right in front of open area kitchen! Level of activity & noise not only distracting but so loud couldn't talk among ourselves. Asking politely to be moved, we were accommodated - one table over, apparently only table available where tv to see the game. Not offered option of going upstairs. Waiter seemed surprised that we would ask to move. Restaurant was not full.

It was my birthday dinner and I did write that in the special request Section within the reservation and when I asked what you get for your birthday, the waitress said "oh sorry, usually we give free deserts but I already made the recipet, but happy birthday". Not impressed. When we were seated, we were given a table that was right directly beside another party, I felt like we were interrupting another tables conversation. The bathroom was so far away I felt like it was in another resteraunt, walking down spiral stairs after having a few drinks, is not my idea of a good time. Would not recommend this resteraunt.

I needed a quick lunch while in that part of town. The place was busy and it seemed to be a bit chaotic. Staff running around every which way. The burger was good. The fries came in a can with paper and were mostly short stubby bits, on the cold side. I had to ask for some napkins. Maybe since I was having a burger and fries they didn't think I needed any cutlery or napkins? So, "just ok" as a meal. Fair value at best for price paid. But I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. Reflecting their chaotic operations I also didn't get my open table credit until I challenged it a day later.

IT WAS MY FIRST TIME AT STEAMWORKS AND EVEN THOUGH THE STAFF VERY ATTENTIVE AND FRIENDLY I FOUND THE FOOD LACKING. I ORDERED THE LOBSTER RAVIOLI AND THERE WAS MORE SUACE THEN PASTA. WOULD OF BEEN BETTER TO CUT DOWN ON THE SAUCE MOST MORE PASTA ON THE PLATE AND CHARGE A BIT MORE...ITS LIKE I WAS PAYING FOR SAUCE. IT WAS NOT BAD THERE JUST WAS NOT IMPRESSED BY THE FOOD PORTIONS

We picked this restaurant based on reviews and location. We have 4 kids 11 and under. Our reservation was a 5:30 on a week night and it was packed!! I was so surprised to see ours was the only open table when we took our seats. The food was very tasty and familiar, but not rote. We had a burgers, a pulled pork sandwich, chowder, salad, and kids' fare such as pizza and chicken strips and fries. Our waitress was gracious and let us arrange things as we needed for our kids. "Kid friendly" it is, but its not crawling with kids like Red Robin. Mostly adults were there, which means the food speaks to mature palates. Our experience was great from start to finish. The leftovers the next day held up and were a nice echo of the experience.

Food, service, atmosphere... no complaints - exactly what I expected. However, I had out of town guests and so made a reservation well in advance. Where do we get seated? Right next to the bathroom door. One would think that a reservation would be treated with a bit more respect than literally getting the worst seat in the place. We opted to move 4 of us to a table for 2 in order to avoid having to watch the steady stream of people headed from or returning from relieving themselves. Our complaint was definitely not taken seriously, but we had a great time anyway.

Had a great birthday dinner. Definitley make sure to reserve a table on the weekends. even though it's a big place it does fill up after 7pm. Great Beer which steamworks brews for their restaurant, and for the stores. Server was very accommodating to my party of 8 which grew to 15 and were able to move around and all have seperate tabs. Food was good and better than most pubs in the area. I actually had the lobster ravioli w/ garlic bread. Very good on a cold winter night!

Even though we made a reservation we were put in an upstairs corner [near the hostess] at a table way to small for our group. I came here with 4 of my friends and we were greeted and brought to our table quickly. However, within the first few minutes, noticed it was drafty in the room they put us in. The walls even felt cold and we noticed a drastic difference when leaving the room to go to the washroom and coming back. The room was quite drafty and chilly. Looking around, we saw others with their jackets still on so we must not be the only ones. The food was ok. Nothing special...... my friend had the lamb burger and said it was really good. However, the calamari and the fish and chips were nothing to brag about. The drinks were ok.... the double mojito we ordered looked cloudy and didn't even taste like there was alcohol in it at all.

The food tasted good, but it took them a very long time to bring it. We saw that the food was made but it was sitting in the kitchen for at least 5 -10 mins before they brought it to our table. And we ordered drinks but it took them almost half an hour to bring it. Not only that, it took them at least 20 mins to tell me that they actually were out of mint so they couldnt make a mango mojito for me. This is a little unreasonable considering we went to eat lunch and they had opened just an hour or so before we went to sit down. Also the place was not that busy so the service shouldnt have taken so long.

I am impressed by the prompt, friendly and knowledgeable service provided by the Steamworks waitstaff. They were more than willing to divide up the bill in the manner we requested. When told one of our party was celebrating a birthday the waitperson informed us that the celebrant could get a free desert of her choice. Much appreciated. I had the lamb burger, which I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend. Additionally I am pleased that O'Doul's non alcoholic beer is available. The free wi-fi is much appreciated, as are the large tv screens available for for viewing NFL football and the baseball playoffs. My only complaint, the french fries were somewhat stale. All in a job well done.

We live in the suburbs. Steamworks used to be a favorite place to dine out for my adult children. Now that we are empty- nesters I plan to explore the places that my Canadian born children raved so much about. When we were young we were too busy settling ourselves in a new country. We are in our 50s, financially secure, in good health and with a youthful spirit... I want to enjoy life to its fullest. That night I chose Steamworks to dine and then went an saw a movie at the VIFF.
