The cleaners outside the restaurant made so much noise that is virtually impossible to hear each other speak. They shouldn't have been cleaning like that at noon. It left me with such a terrible headache, that it ruined our lunch. The staff said that managers had to speak to each other, and finally the noise stopped as we were getting ready to leave. So.... Although the food was excellent, I feel the restaurant could have done something to recognize how horrible the noise was. Usually, there is a complimentary drink, or something. I am afraid, it doesn't inspire me to return for lunch,

The location and service are great. But the food could improve, specially anything that's made with seafood. The sauces that are served with the shrimp are flavorless and do not match the type of shrimp being served. Also I know someone was trying to creative by adding popcorn to the popcorn shrimp but it looks cheap and tasteless.

I'm a real detail person so unfortunately i look for and notice a lot when i go to a new restaurant. the welcome was great and the staff found our reservation fast. Our drinks and starter came quickly. When i ordered my steak i asked if i could get some garlic bread with it, and server said unfortunately the kitchen had no garlic for bread. Surprising to me since its a restaurant and all, but whatever i had two small pieces of dry baguette brought to me for $1.25! I felt like my meal was good but for a $33 steak I would have liked to see some great garlic mashed potatoes and some more vegetables with it. I got a spear of undercooked potatoes and 2 hard beans and some ok cauliflower. My wife had halibut tacos and loved them. fries were++

Had our post-Marathon dinner at Steamship Thanksgiving weekend. Being from the central time zone and having had an exhausting day, we dined earlier than usual, so don't feel we have a good sense of the atmosphere as it was pretty quiet. Rain kept us indoors - looks like they have a very nice patio fo dining. Food was good, not amazing, but satisfying. Fair value. I would try this again on a warmer, dryer day when we could dine outside.

Me and my girlfriend decided we would try out the new patio in the Victoria inner harbor. First impressions were great. The patio is larger than i expected, the views are outstanding and i can see why its being proclaimed as the best patio in town. Indoors is not a slouch either with more than enough tables and a good ambiance inside. Service was great fast and efficient. The server was more than knowledgeable about all products and was engaging in conversation. We were offered a full wine list as well as the specials they had on at the time. All in all we will be making future trips back as the food, service and ambiance were all very nice and of a high quality.

The food was delicious - wild salmon, halibut, and local oysters. The dinners included delicious vegetables and tasty (but not overpowering) sauces. The wine list was very good and included some good reasonably priced wines. The servers were friendly and attentive. We sat near the fireplace on a cool evening and it was lovely.

I have been to the Steamship Grill several times. Friday night I took 6 guests with me. They all thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We had the private area that can be curtained off. As my guests were elderly, the waitress asked if the music was too loud and as a few of them are hard of hearing, she very kindly had them turn down the music and closed the dividing curtain. Could not have asked for better service and the food is always wonderful.

Amazing views, but the food was forgettable... I wanted to be wowed. As a local that entertains out of towers I really wanted to love it all because the location it so amazing. The popcorn shrimp were salty and the mains weren't anything to write home about. Watching Victoria light up from the inner harbour through dinner was lovely.

This place is no different from many others in Victoria, service is truly hit and miss. In most cases the wait staff is extremely kind but there is a general lack of attentiveness in Victoria, takes forever to be seen, etc. Here, our wait person was just this, kind, but over taxed. Things took a while and had to ask for things twice in some cases. Food is acceptable. Nothing fantastic. View, outstanding, perhaps the best in Victoria, so choose wisely but go. This place will get better.

Went there to celebrate my husbands birthday and my daughters passing her national exam. Had a lovely table on the patio with great view of the inner harbour. We had to request the wine menu as there were only a few wines on the main menu. I ordered the steak medium rare and my husband ordered the salmon. Our server stated the salmon came medium rare and my husband requested medium. When our meals arrived my steak was more medium to well done and my husbands salmon was definitely more medium rare. Our children had the halibut burger and the cod they both said there's was fine. Server did offer to take our food back but as it was a family celebration we both declined. They offered 2 deserts for us to share which was appreciated.

We had the tacos and they were good but I don't know if something was left off because I am gluten intolerant, the tacos could have used more flavor such as salsa or more salsa. Next time I shall ask for salsa on the side, cabbage can be very bland, maybe lettuce would work better. My lunch companion is American and was impressed, will probably recommend to her many friends. The service was friendly and professional. As an ambassador for Victoria I have been able now to recommend the restaurant to tourists and locals alike, keep up the good work you have raised the roof on service and the fact that you have gluten free offers is good as I keep a list for tourists, I often get asked for them.

We had supper on a beautiful August Sunday evening. The menu had a nice selection of menu choices; everyone in our party throughly enjoyed their meals. This was our fourth visit this year. During this time, the menu has been tweaked and while the selections are somewhat limited, there is usually something for everyone. I had the sesame seared tuna - nice portion size, but expected ahi tuna for the price. My table mates both had seafood dishes. Portion size for their dishes have been reduced since last spring, but quality and presentation remain high. Great room with lots of light, space and seating options. Don't expect fine dining - it's wonderful casual dining,

Gorgeous view and awesome outdoor seating in summertime. Was a bit disappointed in the steak - requested it Medium Rare but it came out seared on outside. raw inside. Sent it back but it was then cooked to Medium Well/well done. Waiter was a bit stiff and so-so on being attentive, but overall was nice enough. Wine list was rather small, but the choices were good. There is a different menu and wine list for the outdoor seating than inside/bar - a bit confusing, but the inside menu is better. Overall it was definitely worth it!

Deck was fantastic but very busy so service was a bit slow. I had to wait about 10 minutes for a beverage to arrive after my meal was delivered. Staff were all excellent. Two of the three meals (blackened snapper and steak) were very good. The third (halibut tacos) was disappointing. The pieces of halibut were tiny and the taste was completely smothered by the other ingredients.

I had high hopes for this restaurant with such a gorgeous view and porch. But the service was unbelievably slow. We didn't even see a waitress for over 15 mts after being seated, it took another 15 mts to get one caesar cocktail to our table, and after ordering our meal it was well over a half an hour before we saw our food. Prices are very high, as well and the food was just ok, not amazing. Disappointing.

Our dinner was very good. My wife and I both had dressed up salads but the price was reasonable and tasty. Our only problem was the poor shape of the washroom. I feel a poorly maintained washroom is a strong reflection of the restaurant itself. On leaving we mentioned to the hostess and the other two staff members about no toilet paper and poor cleanliness and they appreciated the observation although they didn't do anything.

Who's writing the bad reviews? We went and found everything to be a pleasant surprise. The food was amazing and well worth the cost and wait. Our waitress (sorry I forgot your name) along with the hostesses were gracious and curtesous. Also, blankets to keep us warm by the waterfront tables? Please and thank you! We had a wonderful night out. We ordered the mussels, yum!, as well as the steak and crab. It doesn't seem like a lot of food, but once you dig in, it's plenty. Wish we had left room for dessert. Next time we're in town we'll leave room. Ignore the poor feedback and go discover on your own, we hope you're as pleasantly surprised as we were!

heard good things about this restaurant so wanted to try it. We sat outside, the views are lovely. 4 choices of white wi , we made our selection, only to be told that their liquor order had been messed up and they didn't have 2 of the choices. One choice was too sweet for us and the other was $14.50 per glass so opted to skip it. a member of our group challenged the waiter, saying this was not good enough and what could he suggest. He asked the manager to sell us the $14.50 glass at lower price but no deal. Eventually sold us wine that had been brought in for a special occasion. Food was OK, although not generous fish in the tacos, definitely not worth the inflated prices. We will not return or recommend.

Noisy interior at lunch---mind you, it was festival time. Outside dining lovely, protective umbrellas & blankets available. Most tables have a wonderful view. Service very good, solicitous but not overpowering. Food good--seafood portion of salad very well done, perhaps too great a proportion of greens to seafood and vinaigrette on the bland side. Coffees excellent and wine list good although very expensive per glass. This could well discourage frequent visits.

It may have been an off day. There were hardly any diners. Service was slow. Food was ordinary. We just returned from Eastern Europe where every cafe put your place to shame.
