With a long-standing emphasis on fresh and local, the menu features sustainable seafood; organic produce – some from the cafe’s own gardens – and Niman Ranch beef and lamb with classic American cuisine as the central theme.   • "I hadn't been to the Station House Cafe in a few years, and the food was a bit of a disappointment. We ordered the spicy peel n eat shrimp (very yummy actually), the figs with blue cheese (the figs were utterly flavorless), the mussels with fries (mussels were fine, fries were "mheh") and the fish n chips also just "mheh." The service was ok, but when we got the bill our arnold palmers, which came in TINY glasses apparently didn't have free refills as it was $16 dollars for 4 (one drink and refill each). Absurd. But, the popovers are delicious & the burgers and some food others ordered looked good, so perhaps we just didn't order right. Anyways, there are other options in Point Reyes Station and we will be trying those next time."

  • "We ate here twice over a long family wedding weekend, once for dinner, once for breakfast. Dinner service was a bit spotty and somewhat too laid back for my taste. I waffled back and forth over the menu and finally went with fish & chips, as I figured it must be a sure bet over by the coast. wrong. the fish was mostly tasteless and mushy/mealy, the batter didn't stick and the fries, while fine, were also a bit mushy from being served under the fish. Breakfast was a basic bacon/egg dish. I asked to sub grits for potatoes - fine - but they came out ice cold. the rest of my dish was fine. We had to flag someone down for drink refills which is always a let-down. If service could be a bit more energetic, more stars would come."

  • "Whenever we visit the Pt. Reyes area we have dinner here. Sometimes we come out for a long day, eat at the Station House and then return home. Two things you will notice almost immediately is that there are A LOT of servers, which means attention will be paid to your table; then as you peruse the menu you will find mouth-watering items made from local ingredients in enough variety to suit any palate. The rest of the experience lives up to these promises."

They also make a good effort to seat patrons near the band insofar as possible if this is requested with the reservation."

It was the holiday weekend, so that had the place pretty busy which resulted in service being a little slow, but nothing we could not live with. We will be back here again! Worth the ride from the Bay Area."

  • "In this small town of few choices, we were lucky to have a recommendation. No cell service at our "resort" so we booked a table online with open table. We LOVE this place. Glad we did because there was a 45 min wait. Too many good choices that we decided we would need to try again. Breakfast & 2 din in 2 days. Yum. Closed on Wednesdays & nothing in this town stays open very late. Enjoy."

  • "once seated took over 30 minutes for anyone to approach our table after placing our order it was another 55 minutes to receive our food we had a party of eight I had the calamari it was tough and greasey and under cooked my husband had the chicken and biscut with gravy the plate consisted of a dried out biscut with a very small hunk of chicken that was it on his plate and please tell your chef an oyster poorboy should never be served on a seeded hamburger bun the pasta dish was swimming in grease and under cooked. for almost a bill of $200.00 it was bad bad bad. if we didn't have our elderly parents with us I would have sent all our food back and left never again will any of us return"

  • "My husband and I came here for my birthday and were seated right away. We ordered the raw oysters, which were very good. My husband ordered the fish and chips, which he was pleased with, as was I with the mussels. The berry pie a la mode was good but not spectacular. Service was attentive but not overbearing. The atmosphere was casual and suitable for families. The patio looked inviting, with different types of flowers. We came back a couple days later for lunch and had the burger and the reuben sandwich, which were tasty. We much prefer Station House Cafe to Osteria Stellina across the street. It's become our go-to place in Point Reyes Station."

So we had a seat at the bar. 20 minutes later no table, but at least the manager apologized for the delay which is an Open Table first. Then to get us a table we had to sit in the bar, but at least they bought us a round of drinks to make up for the service failure. Now onto the food. I picked this place because it had a serloin on the menu, except for the one night I am there. I've been eating oysters all day and wanted to lay off the seafood, so I had a skirt steak which despite what people think is tough and tasteless, the cut of meat is tough and tasteless, left half."

  • "Station House Cafe has been a staple in our family for nearly three decades. The food and service are not spectacular. However, after a day on the trail or beach, who really cares about whether there's hand torn lettuce with some exotic ingredient that hardly anyone has heard about. The popovers bring back wonderful memories from when our kids yearned and devoured them withing 2 minutes. The turkey/black bean chili is like an old friend; one cannot find any better oysters in the world (if you like oysters). The only items I would steer clear of are fish and chips (soggy) + the homemade veggie burger."

  • "We saw the Check Please show on this restaurant and could not go for dinner as everyone on the show did. We went for breakfast/ brunch and the food was average. If they are going to rate this restaurant on TV, well all meals breakfast, lunch and dinner should be an experience. Not only dinner. I had the corn beef hash and poached eggs. There was no flavor. My husband had the Mexican omelette thinking there would be Mexican chorizo or some tyke of meat it was just cheese, salsa inside the omelette and sour cream on top. Pretty disappointing. I have to say if you are going to eat there, the must have is the freshly baked scone and Devonshire cream with coffee was a hit for me."

  • "The Station House ( so named because a train used to go to Point Reyes Station all the way from the ferry in Sausalito)is a big barn lf a building with a smaller area where the bar is and sometimes music and a lovely outdoor patio for dining. The food is great, but the menu hasn't changed in decades. Sure would be nice to have some Vegan options and fewer fried foods. Still, they have their own organic garden and are members of Marin Organics."

  • "We went for the early dinner and selected from the set menu, which we'd viewed on line prior to making reservations. The clam chowder and spinach salads were fantastic. The ciopino was good, with a few muscles and bits of cod in a fragrant tomato garlic base with half a crab on top. Had it been cracked or had we not been dressed up (we were nearly the only ones who were dressed up) it would have been less daunting. The chocolate cake was good, but missing the raspberry sauce and the berry pie was tart and sweet at the same time but had scant filling. Our service was fantastic, although we had to request bread and additional napkins. We'll stick to regular dinners from now on but aren't sorry that we went."

  • "We met our good friends for brunch here on New Years eve morning. We live out of town but ran into two different couples we know all with the same idea of great food and then a lovely hike at Pt Reyes Nat'l Seashore. Our food was good, plentiful and the service was great. We took our time over our meal and there was no pressure to hurry up and leave the table. We often come here after a hike and enjoy dinner or lunch too. The only down side to breakfast is the delicious popovers aren't served until dinner."

  • "I've dined at Station House Cafe several times, but this was my first time coming here during the winter Holidays. They had a live band playing in the bar area, but the music could be heard throughout the restaurant . The band really got patrons going. Some folks even started dancing to the music. We ordered their lamb shank, roasted chicken and Cobb salad with mussels for appetizer. They are all tasty, especially the soup for steaming the mussels. There's a hint of wine taste that I sensed. The popover served before meal was like in heaven. Hilliary certainly added sparkle to our dining experience. Her service was very attentive, she never rushed through anything even though it's a packed crowd. I'd come back for sure."

  • "This spot has long been an area hot spot, but the last few times we have been, the quality has diminished. The waitress was great, but the hostess was frazzled. The waiting crowd was not happy. Caesar came over-dressed with a glob of dressing in the bottom of the plate. Oyster stew was under-seasoned and tasted like assorted components swimming in cream. The oysters themselves were creamy and fresh though. Halibut dish was ok, but not special. Sadly, we have decided to give up on this restaurant given better options in the area."
