  • "Happy Birthday to me, spending the weekend in West Marin and selected Station Cafe. Arrived 10 minutes before my reservation and table wasn't ready. So we had a seat at the bar. 20 minutes later no table, but at least the manager apologized for the delay which is an Open Table first. Then to get us a table we had to sit in the bar, but at least they bought us a round of drinks to make up for the service failure. Now onto the food. I picked this place because it had a serloin on the menu, except for the one night I am there. I've been eating oysters all day and wanted to lay off the seafood, so I had a skirt steak which despite what people think is tough and tasteless, the cut of meat is tough and tasteless, left half."

  • "Station House Cafe has been a staple in our family for nearly three decades. The food and service are not spectacular. However, after a day on the trail or beach, who really cares about whether there's hand torn lettuce with some exotic ingredient that hardly anyone has heard about. The popovers bring back wonderful memories from when our kids yearned and devoured them withing 2 minutes. The turkey/black bean chili is like an old friend; one cannot find any better oysters in the world (if you like oysters). The only items I would steer clear of are fish and chips (soggy) + the homemade veggie burger."

  • "We saw the Check Please show on this restaurant and could not go for dinner as everyone on the show did. We went for breakfast/ brunch and the food was average. If they are going to rate this restaurant on TV, well all meals breakfast, lunch and dinner should be an experience. Not only dinner. I had the corn beef hash and poached eggs. There was no flavor. My husband had the Mexican omelette thinking there would be Mexican chorizo or some tyke of meat it was just cheese, salsa inside the omelette and sour cream on top. Pretty disappointing. I have to say if you are going to eat there, the must have is the freshly baked scone and Devonshire cream with coffee was a hit for me."

  • "The Station House ( so named because a train used to go to Point Reyes Station all the way from the ferry in Sausalito)is a big barn lf a building with a smaller area where the bar is and sometimes music and a lovely outdoor patio for dining. The food is great, but the menu hasn't changed in decades. Sure would be nice to have some Vegan options and fewer fried foods. Still, they have their own organic garden and are members of Marin Organics."

  • "We enjoy stopping by for brunch on sunny days when the outdoor patio is an option. This time the overcast skies meant we sat inside and the overcooked burger and underseasoned omelette left us underwhelmed. We'll wait for a bright, sunny day to go back."

  • "We went for the early dinner and selected from the set menu, which we'd viewed on line prior to making reservations. The clam chowder and spinach salads were fantastic. The ciopino was good, with a few muscles and bits of cod in a fragrant tomato garlic base with half a crab on top. Had it been cracked or had we not been dressed up (we were nearly the only ones who were dressed up) it would have been less daunting. The chocolate cake was good, but missing the raspberry sauce and the berry pie was tart and sweet at the same time but had scant filling. Our service was fantastic, although we had to request bread and additional napkins. We'll stick to regular dinners from now on but aren't sorry that we went."

  • "We met our good friends for brunch here on New Years eve morning. We live out of town but ran into two different couples we know all with the same idea of great food and then a lovely hike at Pt Reyes Nat'l Seashore. Our food was good, plentiful and the service was great. We took our time over our meal and there was no pressure to hurry up and leave the table. We often come here after a hike and enjoy dinner or lunch too. The only down side to breakfast is the delicious popovers aren't served until dinner."

  • "I've dined at Station House Cafe several times, but this was my first time coming here during the winter Holidays. They had a live band playing in the bar area, but the music could be heard throughout the restaurant . The band really got patrons going. Some folks even started dancing to the music. We ordered their lamb shank, roasted chicken and Cobb salad with mussels for appetizer. They are all tasty, especially the soup for steaming the mussels. There's a hint of wine taste that I sensed. The popover served before meal was like in heaven. Hilliary certainly added sparkle to our dining experience. Her service was very attentive, she never rushed through anything even though it's a packed crowd. I'd come back for sure."

  • "This spot has long been an area hot spot, but the last few times we have been, the quality has diminished. The waitress was great, but the hostess was frazzled. The waiting crowd was not happy. Caesar came over-dressed with a glob of dressing in the bottom of the plate. Oyster stew was under-seasoned and tasted like assorted components swimming in cream. The oysters themselves were creamy and fresh though. Halibut dish was ok, but not special. Sadly, we have decided to give up on this restaurant given better options in the area."

  • "Have had many dinners here over decades. Can always count on a great meal with a home-cooked feel. There are local oysters and other seafood items, a great burger, a Cobb salad to die for, popovers for the table--and a variety of excelllent entrees for both carnivores and vegetarians. (Smaller dishes like turkey chili, a delicious and generous cornbread, sauteed greens, homemade soups, olive appetizer). They also make full use of local products like cheeses and produce. On some nights live music wafts over from the bar area, just loud enough to provide background, even when amplified. There is a decent selection of California wines and brews plus mixed drink specials. Desserts are worth the calories, too. Try the lemon pot de creme."

  • "We have been here before. Our favorite is the oyster stew. Hearty enough for a meal along with the fresh, hot ,popovers that keep comming ( if you ask). The creamy broth, rainbow swiss chard, potatoes and mushrooms are cooked to perfection and presented in a wide rimmed bowl. Reservations are a must most week ends. The popovers are served after 5p.m. only. Twice now we made our reservations at 5p.m. and they were not ready to start seating.they were still vacuuming. But that will not stop us from comming back. We'll wait til 5:30 next time."

  • "Been here before, during the week at lunch; were impressed. Running around Sonoma County for the Fall Art Tour and, with another couple on board, wanted a place with some character/very good food to start the afternoon. Reservation honored right away at our 11:30 am slot. Ladies loved their excellent prosecco. Frank and I shared deep fried oysters, then his Eggs Benedict and my tuna melt were excellent. Ladies shared a 'farm to table' wild mushroom sandwich-great. Noted giant burger at the next table that elicited 'oohs and ahs.' Not fancy but very well-kept up; nice outdoor dining area. Town very busy with tourists. On drive up Hwy 1 to Valley Ford noticed several busy oyster places around Marshall. We'll check out next trip."

  • "We've been going to the Station House for almost two decades, and love a place with a neighborhood vibe that's still friendly to tourists and weekend visitors, serves meals appropriate for special occasions or a quick bite with the kids, and allows us to be comfortable in the jeans and boots we've been hiking in all day. The popovers were just as hot and delicious as they've (almost) always been, and the friendly server offered us more when the kitchen got backed up on a Saturday night and our entrees were late. They don't serve cornbread with the popovers any more, and the old standards are maybe a little too familiar, but oh well. We still love them."

  • "We drove to Point Reyes from Sausalito on a beautiful day to have brunch at Station House. The hostess seated us immediately at a perfect table and was gracious and very welcoming. Our server, although informed he was new, was very good. He was professional and on hand if we needed anything. My mother ordered their Classic Eggs Benedict and I ask if the chef could prepare a vegetarian version and they said absolutely. They made mine with sauteed kale in place of the standard Canadian bacon with the poached egg and hollandaise and it was delicious! The hollandaise was light and lemony and wonderful. The crispy potatoes served with it were perfect. The coffee was good and my mother's Bloody Mary she said was spicey and great!"
