Station 4Unexpected GemWe were in DC for a few days and were looking for something casual but unique. We found it in Station 4. The atmosphere was great, the location was very close to our hotel which we had trouble finding places by, and the food was excellent. From the carrot/ginger bisque to the crab cakes. I also can't forget the olive bread.
Service was quick. While we didn't have a show to run off to, they asked to make sure they got us on our way in case we were. That was great. My food was very good--salmon sliders--I recommend them, and the food around us looked very appealing as well. The only problem for me was the noise level. We were a party of two sitting close to our neighbors. Because the total volume was high, the people next to us were practically yelling at each other just to be heard. I was aware of that the whole time--it was distracting to our conversation. This restaurant therefore wouldn't be a first choice for me. I love the beet salad and the salmon, in particular. The most recent time we were there, it was very noisy and they seemed to fall behind due to several large parties. They assured me I could, and the manager (Andy) met me when I arrived and helped me stow it by the front desk. The desk staff and everyone in the restaurant was super friendly and personable. The food is amazing but the best treat is the Jazz Band that plays most Sundays. We always call before we go to be sure they are playing. The experience us just not as enjoyable when the band is not playing. I appreciate that they give a little salad with the entree and the food was nice and fresh. I did not like the butter that they used on the toast...it was interesting but not tasty. At one point we were hot and the server opened the door for it to cool down.
