Station 4Great time as UsualWe dined outside - the new bar is very nice and fits the space perfectly. Our server was outstanding - attentive without being annoying. The scallops were great - even if I thought there was too much sauce. My dining partner loved the Cobb salad and the wine was just fine.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant was great but myRestaurant was great but my reservation did not show up on their list. However, they were not crowded and seated us anyway.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentGreat SW neighborhood, as well as for pre-theater dining. Exceptional service, nice menu. Fully enjoy taking guests.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brunch food was tastyThe brunch food was tasty and ample. A variety of entrees and side selections. The service was very good and timely. Very energetic setting and classy looking establishment. Highly recommend6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreathave been there over 15 times and they are always on!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways greatS4 is the *only* decent restaurant in the Waterfront area. Going to Arena Stage? S4 is your pre- or post-theater stop. The menu is always changing and the food is always great.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat with friends...The hostess is always accommodating and the servers are always great. I love coming with friends to enjoy the bottomless mimosa brunch... steak and eggs with duck fries are the best!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was a great experienceThere was not a show at Arena Stage that evening so the restaurant was not crowded and we had dinner at a relaxed pace. We started with cocktails. My beet salad and rack of lamb were delicious. My companion reported that she enjoyed her French onion soup and salmon entree very much. We shared a side dish of smoked gouda mac and cheese with bacon. Each of us had an Irish coffee at the end. We look forward to returning for another dinner at Station 4.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is very good - but theFood is very good - but the service needs some attention. We arrived on time for our reservation - and two hours before the play at Arena Stage. Our waitress asked if we were headed to Arena - that's what may have caused her to decide there was no need to move things along after taking our orders. Thirty minutes later - no cocktails and no sign of our waitress. We flagged down the maitre d' who went in search of both. Eventually salads arrived - and shortly thereafter our cocktails - but still no sign of the ordering waitress. So went the remainder of our meal - trying to flag down wait staff.
We will return to Station 4 for our next Arena experience - and hope that the inattentive attitude of the wait staff was just a one off experience.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Brunch, Great ServiceWe chose Station 4 for the $25 brunch + bottomless mimosa special to enjoy before going to a Nats game. After major delays, I had to call to reschedule twice for our group of 5, both times they were understanding & made the changes without problem.
Our waiter was attentive and personable, and did a great job of refilling our mimosas frequently.
The Eggs Chesapeake was good but not great, just plain crab (rather than crab cake) that made for slightly mushy texture w/ poached eggs. My fellow diners loved their dishes - we all highly recommend the duck fat fries. Bottomless mimosas were OJ + sparkling wine - not the specialty ones on the menu but still tasty.
We sat inside but the attractive outside patio was full of diners and looked fun!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMyummyThe food was tasty, mimosas were a bit weak, but they were unlimited so we left happy :)5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMStill the best choice forStill the best choice for dinner before attending Arena Stage. Excellent pre-theater menu - inventive and tasty with perfectly sized portions. The wine special we selected was excellent and a wonderful pairing with our meal as predicted by the waitress.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have eaten here 3x. TheWe have eaten here 3x. The service was good, food is tasty but not outstanding. The pre-theater meal has smaller portions so decide how hungry you are before you order. Convenient to Arena.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMUnexpected GemWe were in DC for a few days and were looking for something casual but unique. We found it in Station 4. The atmosphere was great, the location was very close to our hotel which we had trouble finding places by, and the food was excellent. From the carrot/ginger bisque to the crab cakes. I also can't forget the olive bread.
Service was quick. While we didn't have a show to run off to, they asked to make sure they got us on our way in case we were. Just one of the many delights of the service.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre theatre spotEnjoyed the pre theatre menu. Service was prompt and food was delicious. Nice outdoor seating area. Only negative was that the theatre ad said free valet parking, but apparently this was discontinued. Had to scramble for parking.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for mothers day and itWent for mothers day and it was very nice. Our server Natalie was very nice and had a great sense of humor5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mothers Day BrunchThis a neighborhood gem. Food and ambiance were great. The staff was very friendly. We will revisit Station 4!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed brunchI booked a reservation for brunch on Mother's Day. All in all, I was pleased with the service, the food, and the atmosphere of the restaurant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthwest's SecretI've discovered a gem right in walking distance of my house. Station 4 is delightful! The atmosphere is energetic and the food is great. The servers are attentive. Whether you are looking for someplace to hang after the baseball game or before a show at Arena Stage, you couldn't find a better place than Station 4.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in the areaGreat restaurant near arena stage. Good food, nice ambiance, excellent service and very reasonably priced prix fix theater menu.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMPre theaterVery nice per fixe menu for before Arena stage performances.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicous and Convenient to ArenaHave been to Station 4 about 5 or 6 times now as I go to Arena Stage quite often. It's been CONSISTENTLY good food, great service and while a bit loud, a really nice crowd. I live in Arlington and don't know if I'd venture over here just to go to dinner, but the food is really excellent and a fair value.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently pleasurable experienceThis is my fourth time pre-theatre dinner & have consistently liked the food but this time the service was exceptionally caring and helpful.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOT does'nt review for business?I am astounded that among the potential recommendation rationale, nothing is there about a good place to conduct business, which Station 4 is, at lunch. Good table spacing; nice ambient noise level; efficient, unobtrusive service.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA real restaurant near Arena StageThe Washington, DC waterfront is prime real estate, but for years, there have been no decent restaurants within walking distance of the Arena Stage. Finally, Station 4 fills the void. Is it the best restaurant in town? No, but I have been there twice and the food I ordered was quite good, it has nice decor and the service is friendly, if a little slow (but hey, they get slammed before shows, so you have to expect it). They feature a prix fixe menu, but even with a 6:15 reservation, we didn't have time to eat dessert and get to the theatre by 8:00. However, they do let you come back after the show and get your dessert. The con...IT'S VERY LOUD. We ate in the bar, which is a little better. Restaurateurs...dial it back, please!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre-theater placeDinner good, services excellent. Noisy though, next time will ask to sit near the windows or outside.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMClose to Arena Stage! My friend and I go to Arena Stage a couple of times a year and we usually eat at the cafe right in the building. The food isn't bad, but it's nothing to write home about, so we decided to scope out other options nearby. Station 4 is super convenient to Arena Stage (literally around the corner) and the food was quite good, definitely a step above what you can get at the cafe in Arena Stage. Of course, it costs a little more, too, so you get what you pay for. They do have a pre-theater menu and a special parking deal, so that's something worth checking out. We didn't find out about it until after we'd visited Arena Stage (saw an ad in the program).5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre-theatre deal, andGreat pre-theatre deal, and they get you in and out in a hurry. Fried chicken was delicious. Could use to cut back on the salt.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the omlets and potatoesLove the omlets and potatoes at Sunday brunch! Endless mimosas are a great value!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful for brunch on aWonderful for brunch on a nice day. The outside seating is great, not too overcrowded and a lot of shady seats are available. I would definitely recommend having a reservation though, especially if it is a National's game day.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI was arriving by bicycleI was arriving by bicycle and called ahead to ensure I could bring it in off the streets. They assured me I could, and the manager (Andy) met me when I arrived and helped me stow it by the front desk. The desk staff and everyone in the restaurant was super friendly and personable. Had Brussels sprouts as an appetizer, and they were fantastic. My entree was also terrific (scallops). I always expect great food and good service from Poste. Tuesday they exceeded even my already high expectations.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time customer - wouldFirst time customer - would def return for another visit or two,4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great-friendly,Service was great-friendly, relaxed, helpful; food exceptional; a wonderful place to dine, especially before or after an Arena Stage play.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFor dinner before Arena StageThis is a pretty good place and the only game in the neighborhood right now. A block from Arena Stage and great for pre/post show dining. The prices are a bit high for the food quality, which is OK but not great. I had a pretty good tomato bisque soup, and a "crab cake" entree that was a pile of small dry lumps of crab.
They have a pre-theater special at $35 but with very limited choices. Three appetizers, four entrees and two desserts. The decor and ambiance are great and the service has been very good my two trips.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFun, cool and unexpected.Fun, cool and unexpected. Happy to see a restaurant of this caliber in the SE.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant atmosphere and service.Pleasant atmosphere and service. Interesting food. Convenient to Arena Stage. Be forwarned: portion sizes on the pre-theater meal are significantly reduced from those on the regular menu.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre theater placeGreat pre theater place with nice 3 course pre theater for $35. Everything we had was good to include salmon, snapper, salads, octupus appetizer. Very convenient to walk 2-3 blocks to arena stage after dinner without moving your car. Can come back and have dessert after theater if you choose.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Jazz Brunch in DC!We love Station 4, it is by far my favorite brunch place in DC. The food is amazing but the best treat is the Jazz Band that plays most Sundays. We always call before we go to be sure they are playing. The experience us just not as enjoyable when the band is not playing. I always feel like I am getting something EXTRA!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOther than not-so-great service,Other than not-so-great service, this place was a success. Our server seemed to disappear at times and it took us a while to pay our tab, but other servers seemed to be very attentive. Will try one more time and see if we get better service. Other than that, I really enjoyed this restaurant. Great food and great atmosphere!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waitress kept the 'bottomlessOur waitress kept the 'bottomless mimosas' bottomless!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great time here. WentHad a great time here. Went for a few appetizers and some drinks with a friend of mine. The service was nicely paced. And! We got to see fireworks from our seats. Would definitely go back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Terrific Option in SouthwestGoing to Arena Stage? Then go to Station 4. Good food. Good service. Good time management. Everything you want before -- or after -- the show. The manager, Marco, is especially thoughtful and we've really enjoyed being served by Kira on more than one occasion. My personal favorite is the Salmon Sliders appetizers but everything either is or looks tasty. And lots of options for wine by the glass and beer.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was quite loud, and allIt was quite loud, and all of the brunch entrees were a little skimpy, but the all you can drink mimosas and bloody Mary's kind of made up for that.... They could have been a little quicker with the refills, but overall experience was quite good4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMTables are way too small toTables are way too small to hold two dinner plates.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for a quick dinner beforeWent for a quick dinner before going to Arena Stage and were delighted to find this spot. $35 Prix Fixe is a great deal before theater. Hip decor, lively crowd, nice service and good food. We were able to come back for our dessert after the performance. This will become our place to eat when we go to Arena.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for a pre-theater meal.Went here before/after a show at the Arena Stage. The pre-theater menu is pretty good and offers the option to return after the show to come for dessert. Weekdays it's not hard to get a table but weekend brunch can be packed.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my second time diningThis is my second time dining here, and it was as good as I remember. I had a great time for a casual Easter brunch with my boyfriend.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot to visit beforeGreat spot to visit before the theater. Staff is sensitive to the fact that you are trying to leave at a certain time. Choices on pre theater are being a bit more varied. Great addition to the area.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure dining atAlways a pleasure dining at Station 4 - the food was great and the service excellent. Also nice to be on the patio again!
