Stark's Steakhouse brings classic fare with a modern approach to downtown Santa Rosa's Old Railroad Square. The restaurant's decor blends classic charm and vintage detail with lush fabrics, weathered leather, and two fireplaces in an old brick setting.

Stark's Steakhouse features CAB Certified Prime Angus, grass fed and beef and also features the only in-house dry-aging program in Sonoma County. Cuts of meat include Bone in New York Strip, Rib Eye, American Kobe and Filet Mignon. Keeping with owner/executive chef Mark Stark's "farm to table" philosophy, Stark's Steakhouse also offers a wide selection of "non-steak" dishes that highlight the plethora of fresh, seasonal and local ingredients available in Sonoma County.

    We started at the bar with our annual anniversary champagne cocktail (the drink we had on our honeymoon at the Madonna Inn, underage but back in 1972 things were a little more loose). Great service there. Then on to a lovely table with a view of the fireplace. Our server was sweet and attentive. The kale salad we shared was the best we'd ever had. My husbands prime rib was great and my chicken under a brick delicious! We also shared a side of sauteed spinach, yum and a cheesecake like dessert that was amazing. We appreciated the free corkage on our wine as well. Overall it was a wonderful evening for us.

    We really enjoyed the ambiance of Stark's, but frankly thought the price of the steak and quality of sides were high. Husband ordered his dry aged ribeye done medium-rare, and it came cooked a good medium. I ordered my dry aged bone-in New York steak medium and it was bordering on well done. The onion rings were thick cut (about 3/4 - 1" in width) and were not as good as other less costly restaurants. The truffled French fries were not very crispy and bordered on soft. The best part of the meal was the yummy mushroom soup our server talked is into. We selected Starks over other restaurants owned by the same couple because we had a gift card given us and wanted a good dry-aged cut of beef. Were disappointed by this meal. Unfortunately we will not be going back to this location.

    This is the place in Santa Rosa for a great night out. After years of coming here, its still the kind of quality you would expect from an opening staff and fresh menu. We tried the bread pudding with banannas for dessert. I recommend it if there's room!

    Get a steak, it will be yummy. Sides are large portions - share one for two people. Garlic bread loaf with dill is unique and hard to stop eating! No need to get an appetizer!

    We took our dearest friends visiting here from Fresno to your restaurant for their 49th anniversary. We had a great time...and they loved the special touch of a complimentary glass of champagne to toast the occasion. As always, the food was wonderful and so was the service. Thanks Stark's for another wonderful dining experience....we will definitely be back!

    Service was excellent. We were not rushed and courses were timed perfectly. However, the noise level is about the highest decibel I have ever encountered. It is hard to have a conversation across the table. I ordered a medium filet and it was overcooked and luke warm almost to the point of being well done. Also the brussel sprouts came late in the meal as broccoli was delivered to the table first. Told the waiter we didn't order them and they were replaced with the brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were not caramelized and were served with some other vegetables. They tasted steamed and were not eaten.

    Not cheap, and the entrees are "ala carte" so you need to order sides for the table. the steak was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Our table was ready right at the time of the reservation. The place was pretty crowded for a Monday, so they were very organized in that regard

    Friendly service, excellent menu, and a great dining experience. Like a true steakhouse, you will order the steak separately, and then sides to share, which can get pricey but is well worth it. My wife and I each ordered our favorite cuts, and were not disappointed. Not only was it delicious, it was perfectly cooked to our request - a task not all steakhouse chefs have perfected. Each steak comes with a choice of sauce on the side, but mine certainly did not need it. The unique wine list was impressive, but so was the fact that Stark's allows up to two bottles with free corkage - another important aspect to those who've been exploring the nearby wine country all day. A classy, delicious way to end a good day!

    Wonderful dinner for the four of us. Succulent surf and turf. Incredible oysters. Ribeye was cooked perfect and side plates yummy. Being served by Julie was such a pleasure. Thanx to the Stark family. WE WILL BE BACK :)

    Had a 7:30 reservation for 4, we were there to celebrate my wifes birthday, we were seated quick enough, we waited for approx 10 min for the last one of our party to join us before ordering. Ordered Apps and drinks that were delivered in a timely manor then ordered our Entré's. .... After 45 minutes I had to get up and ask if there was a problem in the kitchen as we've been waiting. I was told that there was and that the manager would be right out, he did make his way out to apologize and that they were plating our meals. I understand that this is always a possibility at a busy restaurant but all I asked was that we should have been told as soon as they knew there was going to be a delay. They did take care us on a few items...

    Wonderful reception with a Free glass of Champagne to congratulate us on our Anniversary. Great Food. Great Service. Didn't feel "rushed". Loved that we could bring our own wine (free corkage) which made the dinner affordable. The ambience is terrific (no eye glaring bright lights and no "music so loud you couldn't hear yourself talk" which I've experienced at other restaurants. Thanks. Great experience. Food was Terrific...This place obviously has a wonderful chef.

    We thoroughly enjoyed our first dining experience at your establishment. The food was absolutely delicious and I especially enjoyed the diversity of items on your gluten free menu, as I have celiac disease and sometimes dining out can be challenging. The service was outstanding and our waitress was very helpful in explaining some of the menu items. We have out-of-town guests coming soon and we will definitely be bringing them here....they will love it!

    Great bar and happy hour. Great ambience. Good food. Unfortunately, you go there and get a great steak once, the next time it could be a gristle slab laced with meat. The next time it might be good but not cooked as ordered. Just be ready, in case, and don't let it ruin everything else, which we all enjoy immensely.

    We found Starks while looking for a place that serves steaks close to where we stayed in Sonoma Valley, this place fit the bill! Great atmosphere, fantastic food, excellent service and the opening game for the World Series. What more can a couple ask for!     The prime rib is consistently excellent. The warm bread, served in a pool of melted garlic butter, is sinfully good. The sides are big enough to share. And the service is friendly and efficient. We've never had anything less than a great experience here and will come again for special occasions and anytime we want a nice dinner out. Not charging a corkage fee for the first two bottles of wine is an extra nice touch.

    The food was excellent and the sevice was very good except for the fact that we were served the wrong side dishes. We decided to keep them because they looked so good. The noise level was extremely high but not much they can do about that. We do plan to come again.

    The food was good to very good but the service was disappointing. We ordered 18 BBQ Oysters has a starter and only 16 were served until we brought it to the servers attention. All 16 oysters were consumed before the missing 2 made it to the table. We had salads which were served after a small delay and then the entres were served. Three prime ribs, (one rare, one medium rare and one medium) and one butter fish. All three prime ribs serves were rare and the one that should have been medium was sent back to the kitchen. Desert was an other adventure. We all had coffee and one ordered a dessert. All finished the coffees and still no dessert. We flagged down the server and she located it in the kitchen. 3 1/4 hours for dinner.

    My wife and I sat in the dining area near the corner against the wall by the fire extinguish (i.e. pretty far away from the reception desk) but the noise level was amazingly loud through out the entire dinning experience. This was on Friday at 7:30 pm. The noise level was almost as loud as if we were sat in the bar area during the happy hour. When quiet, I can imagine this place being a romantic setting with a very relax atmosphere. The food/wine quality is top of the line, and the attitude of every server was nothing but positive.

    My son's grass fed tenderloin was very good and so was his girlfriend's butterfish. My choice tenderloin and my husband's prime New York steak were just so so. The sweet potato fries were good if quite a bit salty, but the creamed corn was not enjoyed by anyone. The chocolate dessert was very good the lemon one nothing special.

    The food is fabulous. When the "free bread" is the best you've ever had, then that's gotta mean something! Calimari was cooked perfectly! Not too crispy, not rubbery and was splashed in a tasty orange sauce. Steaks cooked to perfection as ordered! HUGE jumbo prawns were savory. Macaroni and truffle goat cheese was superb, yet a bit rich. Service was amazing. Our server was very accommodating, allowing us to take our time ordering, since this was only our second visit. Ambiance is very romantic. Just a warning, bring your night vision goggles as it tends to be rather dark inside, but fitting for a romantic dinner. Noise level is rather high, and we experienced this our first visit, too. The bar noise drifts into the dining area.

    We ate at Stark's recently and had an amazing meal. The calamari appetizer had a very light tempura batter and a great orange-chili sauce. It was the best we have ever had. The bread was also note worthy. A loaf of 6 upright crusty rolls was served in a small cast iron cassoulet which contained melted garlic butter. Amazing. I had the prime rib and my husband had a tenderloin steak. Both were very tasty. All in all, a very good traditional steak house worth a visit.

    Extremely noisy, but service and food were both excellent. A weekday nite at a very popular restaurant, but noise level was unacceptable. I could not converse with my wife sitting directly opposite me.

    Stark's continues to be our go-to spot for a great meal in a wonderful atmosphere. The drinks are excellent, the steaks are superb, and the service is outstanding. Brooke is our favorite server....she is THE best. What more could one want in a dining experience? We were seated at our favorite table, and I didn't even have to ask for it. Wow, thanks to everyone at Stark's who makes it the A-1 restaurant it is!

    ...and I'm 52. Had the dry-aged bone-in New York, my wife had the dry-aged bone-in ribeye. Just incredible steak. My server had a table of 12, us and one other table, and did a commendable job. I'll go back the next time I'm in the area.

    Love the food, service, location, etc. The four of us went for a small celebratory dinner. We brought our own wine (they do not charge corkage for the first two bottles, which is awesome) and each had steak. We ordered two appetizers and had all the delicious oil/garlic bread we could handle. Price? $250.00

    We planned a small but special dinner with some clients and friends here that we needed to be seemless and stress free. The restaurant paired wines for us with the appetizers and main course. They picked out some wonderful appetizers and desserts that helped keep our nose out of the menu and focused on the company across the table.
