  • "It's hard not to order a steak during each visit to Stanley's Steakhouse. They are probably not just the best in Amador, but would rival most steakhouses in Northern California. So steaks it was, but with each visit Chef Daniel continues to offers delightful new options in appetizers and presentations. We were wowed with the Grilled Pork Belly appetizer with the light and fluffy panko crusted soft boiled egg as part of the platter. We were perplexed at how they could do that. The smoked sturgeon was just as special and scrumptious. The staff manages to balance attentiveness with privacy that was perfect for our anniversary celebration. The lemon tart was a wonderful way to end the evening."

  • "We having been wanting to come to Sunday Brunch and finally made it today! Well we were not disappointed. ..from the minute we walked in to the minute we left it was an awesome experience all around! The best service, staff, ambiance, FOOD was to die for my Wife had their amazing Eggs Benedict and Bottomless Mimosas! I had the Steak Hash and Bloody Mary and their awesome Coffee! Plus they brought us out and extra treat...With my family in the Restaurant Business and us being Foodies we are always extra critical...but everything was amazing ..the Staff was super friendly and fun and attentive..Props to them all!!! We will spread the word and we will be back!!!! Thank You!!! :)"

The bar staff is experienced and courteous. The manager has special knowledge in both the bar and dinning room. The owner makes it clear to his staff that they should never sacrifice quality for profit."

  • "We are here visiting, and decided to celebrate my husbands birthday at Stanley's and we were very much surprised at how beautiful and quiet it was, especially for such a special occasion. Our dinner was delicious, but we were very disappointed in our dessert. We ordered the Meyer lemon tart, and I believe the crust was raw. I always thought the crust should be cooked and crispy, not cold and gummy. I had told them it was my husbands birthday, and most restaurants would offer a free dessert, but they did not. We would go back on our next visit, just won't order dessert."

Staff gracious, food excellent, not rushed, plenty of time to enjoy conversation, as well as enjoy atmosphere and mood. I would definitely recommend this to all who enjoy great food in a elegant relaxed atmosphere. Staff was very efficient without hovering. It was a most pleasurable evening."

  • "Had a reservation but we still had to wait almost an hour! They sat us in an annex area next to the kitchen. They shouldn't have tables in that area - it was ugly! Server disappeared and didn't apologize for his lack of attention. They sent us a stale dessert (which we didn't eat) to make up for it. Ugh."

  • "This was a very nice experience. We were in Amador for wine tasting weekend and decided to go to Stanley's, the atmosphere was great. The service was excellent. I ordered my steak chard Rare, one of the only places that produced it correctly the first try....it was yummy. I recommend trying the on the side sauces just for tasting, the meat stood on its own."

  • "We were warmly greeted by the Hostess and seated in the fireplace room which is beautiful. The staff is continually pampering you and the waitress well informed about the food, its ingredients and preparation. The timing of the cocktail and the presentation of the salad and meal were perfect prompt but never rushed. The food and its quality were outstanding, portions just right, and flavors that you savored with every bite. I had the Hangar Steak with Red Pepper Sauce & Crab the Chef's Special - he knows great flavor combinations for sure! We were both born and raised here and will suggest to our friends and definitely be returning. Thank you for a lovely evening in every way."

  • "Hands down the best Steakhouse in the Gold Country. Fine dining meets Amador County in a wonderfully restored historic hotel. This restaurant continues to serve quality food in delicious offerings. The management and chef change that took place a while back turned this restaurant. I now believe it is the best restaurant in Amador County and possibly all of the Gold Country. Chef Daniel is a gem and the pastry chef too. Give it a try you won't be disappointed."

We wait and wait, never came by to speak or acknowledge us.. At least our waitress acknowledged our anniversary and even had the dessert preparer write Happy Anniversary in chocolate on the dessert plate."

The mussels appetizer was among the best we've ever had, the entrees were above average but not a show stopper ( Duck/scallops) but then again this was a steakhouse.. Old hotel charm made our first visit to Gold Country memorable."

  • "We visit Jackson about twice a year to go wine tasting in Plymouth. After a fun day of wine tasting we are always looking for a great place to have dinner and always strike out. This time we stuck hold! The was outstanding. We had the ribeye steak that was tender and cooked perfectly. If you don't care for steak they also have some other choices,I had the Stergon, again cooked perfectly on a bed of greens. It was one of the best meals I ever had! The presentations on the plate were amazing! The plates not only looked great, they tasted even better! This was outstanding. The dessert menu is fabulous as well. The Chef came by everyone's table to ask about their meal. Impressive, we will be back!"

  • "We decided to check out the remodeled National Hotel as an overnight getaway from Sacramento for a birthday celebration. It was a very fun experience.....shopping the Main Street antique stores, enjoying the nicely refurbished room and dining at Stanley's Steak House. We both had steak and while not inexpensive, the meal was excellent and we felt it was money well Spent. The chef came out and chatted which was an added Plus. We also shared an great wedge salad, amazing Brussel sprouts and the baked potatoe that came with my Bordelaise sauce. If you go and see pumpkin creme brûlée on the menu....HAVE IT!! It was the star of the evening...so delicious!!"

  • "This fine dining restaurant could be found in downtown SF. The food was excellent. Fun appetizer options. We enjoyed the Texas Quail Appetizer this time. The sauces are perfect. Salads are wonderful. The best thing is the staff has the friendliness of the foothills charm rather than the snootiness of the city. Now definitely the best restaurant in the Foothills. The reboot of this restaurant with a new staff, new chef and new menu is wonderful. We'll be back again and again. Word needs to get out that this restaurant is entirely new and different from it's initial opening. Folks need to come back and try it now."

  • "We went back excited because the first time we went, the food and the service was over the top. This time, not so good and server was just o.k. She tried to talk very fancy and calm like we were in a spa. Our bill was delivered before our coffee was poored. We'll be back but, hopefully have a different server. Was disappointing because our first experience there was so fantastic."
