  • "Stanford's management is very good about knowing their customers. Over time we have come to know the management and the servers. They always try to please and that keeps us coming back. This night we ordered the artichoke spinach dip to start and then salad and wings for dinner. Simple but very tasty. The artichoke spinach dip was nice and did not overpower with spinach as some do. The wings differed in size between the buffalo and the lime. This would leave one to believe they are not sourced from the same vendor. The salads at Stanford's are always good. Salads come with cheese bread and could be a meal on their own. All in all it was a nice evening at Stanford's."

  • "When a friend suggested this place, I was a little leary because I thought parking would be a problem. It wasn't! Parking is very easy, and free, as well. Wonderful location and food and service."

  • "My only issue was that the hostess stated the reservation was not listed. I had my confirmation from open table and had booked it two hours in advanced. The hostess was able to find us a table right away so the night was not ruin. Our server was awesome and very patience with us as first time guest. Overall a good experience!"

  • "I've been here many times, mostly for happy hour drinks and snacks, but this time my boyfriend and I decided to sit in the main part of the restaurant for a more intimate meal. The hostess asked if we were celebrating anything and we mentioned it was our anniversary, when the server came to the table to greet us, the first thing he did was wish us a happy anniversary. Our server was wonderful and gave us great recommendations and reviews when we couldn't decide which of the delicious entrees we wanted and we both ended up with exactly what we wanted. At the end of our meal the server offered us a complimentary dessert, which again, didn't disappoint! Overall a great experience!"

  • "As with most Friday nights we found ourselves at our table #92 reciting the menu to the server. It seems as we see a new server each time we dine at Stanfords. Come to find out that our table is in a section that has a revolving server list. Scratch table #92 bring on table #82. We ordered house salads, wings, and flatbread, beer and wine. The wings came half tenders and half wings. We learned that the mistake was that of the server. We did not send back, instead we kept what was delivered. The flatbread was good and big enough to take some home. Wings were dry for my wife but just right for me and tenders were out of bag soggy and not very good. We seem to have problems but always come back to Standfords. We are regulars!"

  • "As usual, the service was outstanding, and the food very comforting! We needed a place to go to "spread out" our paperwork, and Stanford's was our place! Then, as a follow-up, I forgot my scarf and then picked it back up the next day! It was very nice to be able to call in, and have such wonderful assistance...almost like a visit to a friends house! Thank you! We will be back again and again!"

  • "Dark stained cherry interior reminiscent of an old steak house, quite pleasant. Menu is good and the additional evening specials were excellent with wine recommendations for each entree. Select a table toward the back as we had the first table at the entrance and the traffic flow was overwhelming and noisy. Food delivery took an excessive amount of time but presentation was excellent and our salmon was perfectly cooked and the taste spectacular."

  • "This is not haute cuisine, but the food and presentation is good, portions are about right. Not a huge menu, but a lot of variation in terms of type of food (healthy to "comfort"). Prices also vary so just about any budget can be accommodated. What we like most is the pleasant ambiance--casual but well above a "Dennys"--and quiet. No problems with normal conversation, even when the place is full, due to carpeted floors and acoustic ceilings. Good for a casual night out when you don't feel like cooking but don't want to spend 2 hours "dining"."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed an evening out and dining on Saturday 2-22. Our dinner at Stanfords was excellent. From appetizer to main course and desert food was well prepared and tasty. Very much enjoyed the surf and turf appetizer (something new for us). Our server (Pamela T) was very knowledgable regarding the evenings specials and desert items. She was provided us very pleasant and accomodating service. Overall very pleased with the dining experience."

  • "Friday night at Stanfords. Party booked near our favorite table was loud but get over it, we are at our favorite table - thank you hostess. Went rustic and ordered salads, pepperoni flat bread and a mixture of buffalo and hickory lime wings. We washed this down with beer. The salads are packed with flavor. I dressed mine with a creamy pesto, nice. The pepperoni flat bread was bursting with flavor, four cheeses, tomato sauce and pepperoni. The manager noted they infused some pepper flakes into the crispy yet thin crust. The wings were crispy but not dry and loaded with flavor. Hot towels were strategically placed near me to clean up my mess. Dinner was a success and we are big fans of Standfords."

The service was incredibly slow, the food was inconsistent, and the restaurant was freezing. It was not the evening we had hoped for. I don't know if we'll venture back."

  • "Such a disappointment! Came here on valentine's day 15 minutes late and they had already cancelled our reservation. We stood around waiting 20 minutes before just going to the bar to eat. The host was an extremely rude man with no concern for customer service. With all the other (and better) restaurants in the area, don't waste your time here."

  • "We visited Valentine weekend/3day Holiday weekend. Arrived for late Vday dinner w/my husband. Reservation on time (only thing that was exceptional). We ordered Surf&Turf skewers and 2 drinks. Surf&Turf skewers are a joke. They are simply a shrimp w/a roadkill size of beef served hot lying in a cold sauce...NOT GOOD! Ordered 2 entrees...waitress decides she can just remember and not write down order on this busy night (sidebar: that she actually complains about when she tells us they ran out of bread.....what kind of restaurant runs out of bread...and dont you want a restaurant to be busy)...She brings wrong dish...after waiting 15 minutes and complaining to manager....He finally brings correct dish...well it looked like roadkill as well."

  • "Right in the heart of Walnut Creek, my first experience coming to Walnut Creek on a Saturday night and noted a lot of people enjoying their evening in Walnut Creek. We were very blessed to find a parking spot right away next to the restaurant and free parking. We had made a reservation so didn't have to wait very long (we arrived a few minutes early). A simple menu so we didn't have to take a long time going over all the delicious dishes. We chose the fajitas and it was quite tasty."

  • "My wife and I ate there on a Sunday evening. The food was excellent. My wife ordered cedar planked salmon- no soup or salad. I ordered Mahi Mahi with a cup of Lobster Bisque. Then the server arrived, ha asked"who gets the soup?", which he shouod have known, or even guessed with a 50% chance of being right. To top it off, they brought potato soup instead of the Bisque. When the mail courses came, they brought my wife Salmon Oscar instead of teh Cedar Planked Salmon. That is unacceptable, for a table of two in particular. Is there no supervision there?"

  • "As always, the food is consistently good, servers polite and caring and management always there to greet and help. The issue is the kitchen. The kitchen is normally slow or gets orders mixed up. This time the kitchen was efficient in getting out appetizers but the entrees came out way too late with some hot and one somewhat cold. Food was good and management provided free corkage on wine we brought in but the kitchen issue has been somewhat a problem. Stating all of this I still will highly recommend Standford's for dinner, lunch or brunch. The people are very nice and the food is very good."

  • "My wife and I did a movie in Orinda and were wondering where to go for a nice dinner afterward. We chose Stanfords and were very happy with the choice. Open Table worked like a charm. They had our reservation when we arrived just 40 minutes later post movie. They seated us promptly and our server Katie was great. My wife was heading for a burger choice but I was going with the blue-cheese crusted filet mignon. I talked my wife into the filet mignon and we were both very pleased. It was perfectly medium-rare. We will return to Stanford's soon. Roger"

  • "I picked Stanford's due to their Gluten Free menu advertising I found online. Our waiter, Nick was awesome. But was disappointed that they did not offer an actual Gluten Free Menu. Much was great and very knowledgeable and very sensitive to my wife's allergies to gluten and dairy. But over all not many choices to choose from. I had the steak and prawn skewers which were tasty. And my Kobe meat loaf was good but very small for the price. I was expecting gluten free bread but they did have gluten free buns. I'm shocked there were not more choices since the executive chef is gluten sensitive too. I'm hoping they add additional options so it gives me a reason to return."

  • "I haven't been to Stanford's in a very long time, but I had very positive memories, and I was not disappointed on this visit. We had a nice quiet table in the back (I requested a table when I made my reservation - and this was accommodated). The service was very prompt, the menu varied, with reasonable prices for the food served. We both had the same item - the baked salmon salad. The salmon was hot, nicely season, not at all "fishy", and the salad greens were fresh. It was served with crisp diced apple and goat cheese. The "cheesy bread" was hot and delicious. Really enjoyed our lunch, and promise to come back sooner than this time."

  • "The food is always very good, sometimes it may be a little off but mostly it id great. For fun try the Panzenela salad, this is an Italian bread salad and the portion is huge, so consider splitting it. Their steaks are always good. They have a very nice booth arrangement and the booths are big so you never feel crammed in."

  • "We enjoyed a nice meal and bottle of wine at our local hang out. Calamari to start, I had wings and my wife the roast beef sandwich. The wings were done perfect and my wife says the roast beef sandwich is as good as any she has had. Our waitress was very nice and management came by twice to see if there is anything we might need. All in all a great night."

  • "Met a friend that I hadn't seen in years for lunch. Wait staff was quick to serve giving us time to talk after to talking for years. The manager came over to check on us which was nice but unnecessary. Food was ok not great but a reason price for a reasonable meal, would recommend to anyone wanting a simple meal at a good location."

  • "It was new years eve so I expected things to be slow no matter where we were, but they were not that busy. Drinks took forever and came back wrong, but he did say there was only one bartender. Drinks being messed up were the servers fault. Food wasnt great just alright. Reminded me of an upscale ruby tuesdays, though I think there food might be better. Just another average place."

  • "Able to make a reservation that morning. Waitress was very attentive. We each had a couple of cocktails with our dinner of steak and tiny partial lobster tail, but what do you expect for $27? Green beans were a bit hard, but steak preparation was fine thanks to the waitress's suggestion on her wellness scale (medium was medium rare-rare). Chocolate mousse was dense and delicious. The booths are very quiet and so was the background music. A great place to eat!."
