Diner Reviews
  • "My friend and I came for dinner prior to a concert we were going to. I had reservations for 5 P.M. and arrived earlier. It was no problem. We were seated immediately. The host was great and had the name wrong, but made sure to comeback and call me by name a couple of times after seated. My friend had one of the fish and chips meals, and I had a steak. My steak was a little more done than I would have liked, but after cutting a little further into the steak, it was perfect. Our server was very friendly and had several suggestions."

  • "A very slow getting the food to us AGAIN. Got some orders wrong."

  • "Great spot for a Saturday lunch! We always sit in the bar; the service is wonderful, cheery and friendly! The food is delicious and served quickly. The Islander is a must try cocktail!"

  • "I've been to this restaurant many times and things have been fine, but the food on the night we went was really bad. Our waiter was great, and told us that our order had gone in after a party of 20. Uh oh. I had fish tacos, and couldn't cut the fish - it was rubbery. My mashed potatoes were lukewarm and dry. My daughter had salmon, which was way overcooked, and was replaced by the kitchen with another plate that was a world away from the first. Her potatoes were steaming, and her fish was perfect. Appetizers were just so-so. I was really disappointed - if we're going to spend $200 for a party of 5, (and that was after they took the salmon cost off...) I want to leave feeling like I had a great meal. Not sure I'll go back."

  • "Loved the wild salmon Oscar and my husband's prime rib was a perfect color; the waiter was attentive without being cloying, and the lighting and private-ness of the seating--all these things came together for a relaxing Saturday night dinner."

  • "Over all it was good nice staff and food . I did make reservations and mentioned it was for a birthday . Nothing special was done for dessert not Happy Birthday in chocolate or a candle . which was ok but I thought maybe they would do something ."

  • "Food was amazing! However, my guest was quite turned off by being asked to cut and check his meat with a plate of fat between him and any meant. Oh yeah, and you might need some silverware to do what you are being asked--that falls a bit flat where there is none on the table. As a matter of presentation, place the MEAT facing the customer ... and ALWAYS make certain the table has silverware before serving food! With the visible staffing level and the sheer cost of dinner and the severely overpriced wine this should have have been an issue. We should have felt like royalty. No matter how you slice it (or whether you have the utensils to do so) the FOOD was fabulous!"

  • "We had our Valentine's Day dinner there ...we were engaged 32 years ago on this day. We wanted to go some place nice, but not overboard. It was. It was one busy place ... but with Valentines falling on a Friday what do you expect? We will be back."

  • "The restaurant is nice enough but service is rather slow. The atmosphere is nice, clean but nothing special. The menu is pretty straight forward and the food is good. It's good for a chain restaurant."

  • "We've chosen Stanford;s for three special occasions now - Thanksgiving, my birthday, and Valentine's Day. We'd been there before and liked it, but it's become a favorite. Their plank salmon is to die for and the accompanying veggies were just fantastic. It was just the right amount of food and the servers were polite and efficient. It's easy to get to too with it being right off I-5 and Northgate way."

  • "This is my favorite restarant because the food is excellent, nice lighting, acceptable noise level, good service, pretty dishes and silverware, and clean restrooms. It is right off of I5 and next to the book store."

  • "I used a 20 gift card but turns out it can't be used for drinks so had to pay for drinks out of pocket and they kept the remaining $5 that was on the card."

  • "The restaurant is clean and well presented. The staff is polite, but not really focused on the dining experience. The food varied between slightly overcooked to slightly undercooked. All food was prepared within an acceptable doneness range, but nothing was prepared spot on. There was some attention to detail in the presentation of the appetizer. The presentation of the main course was a little sloppy and there were smeared towel marks on the rim of the plate. The food was good, but maybe I was expecting that there was a little more care in the preparation and presentation of the food if dinner for two costs about $100."

  • "Enjoyed the food. Cesar Salad with Salmon is ALWAYS good and a favorite of mine. I would recommend if going for a hot spot for happy hour or dinner with the kids. It's great for any meal."

  • "We went on New Years day and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The Kobe Burger with Crab is so delicious, you could really tell it was high quality beef. The waitress was attentive and helpful."

  • "We celebrated New Years w/ a salmon feast. Everything was good and the service, as usual, was quite good. In addition, Stanfords has a "frequent flyer" program so you can accumulate points towards a future "cash off"."

  • "Our appetizer appeared quite late, but was well recieved when it did arrive. Very fresh chicken tenders with dipping sauce. My husband was impressed with a wine he had heard of on a French gourmand show. Very good. As it can be quite difficult to please teenagers - we were pleased with possitive remarks from said teens. The only remark that made me feel a bit old I must admit was as we sat down my daughter wispered , "there are a lot of old people here". I really did'nt think so. My fish tacos were delicious and sandwiches and burgers were delicious so say respective diners. Thank you- we will be sure to return to enjoy another meal or two using our discount cards we recieved after our meal.th"

  • "Look a nice place to dine with children? Perfect place to get a nice meal or a latest back Burger. Check out there menu online. Kid portions are huge and well worth it. I had Babyback ribs where excellent. Husband had the ribeye which wasn't best I ever had but was really good. I would go back."

  • "Great salmon dinner. Substituted mashed potatoes for rice. Wonderful waitress. Kept checking on us to see how we were doing but not interrupting us. Wish there had been a salad to go with dinner at no extra cost. Also had to ask for bread. But all in all it was a great experience."

  • "We had dinner here, and could not have asked for a better time! We sampled new foods we hadn't had before, and were pleased on every account. Our most exciting find may have been the Garlic Brie appetizer - delicious for before and a great dessert to finish eating after we ate the rest of our food."

  • "We, family of four, went to Stanford for christmas dinner. The food was really good, and the place was a little loud, which we didn't mind, because we have two little ones. We even got $40 gift card for free."

  • "We had Christmas dinner at Stafords and the food was excellent, well priced, served on HOT plates, excellent service. It was a lovely Christmas with friends. I was unfamiliar with Stafords and highly recommend it to everyone."

  • "We went there on Christmas Day at 3:30pm . We are fan favorites of the restaurant but won't go back on Christmas. The menu was limited and did not include any traditional holiday choices. Service was much slower than usual. The place was packed so more staff was needed. We had reservations and they called a day before to verify reservations so they knew what to expect. We will be back though."

  • "The service was slow. We were not given any Silverware until we asked for it. When the Silverware did come, one fork had some food from another time on it and we had to return it. As for the food, it was excellent. My wife had the Rib Eye and I had the Prime Rib. Both were cooked exactly how we wanted. It was Christmas Day so the Restaurant was slightly busy so I think that contributed to the slow service. I did enjoy the food and I would recommend Standford's to friends."

  • "We decided to try Stanford's for the first time on Christmas Eve because it was open and close by. The baked Brie appetizer was good, if messy. However, my steak ordered well done came out a solid medium and I had to send it back. When it was returned, now cooked properly, the mashed potatoes were missing from the plate. We had pecan pie a la mode for dessert, and the pie wasn't even warm. Overall, mediocre food not at all worth the high price tag."

  • "Stanford's Northgate was the destination for a special Christmas Eve dinner at 5pm before church services. My guest and I enjoyed our food (filet mignon and salmon) but the service was became more infrequent as other guests started to fill the restaurant. We had a stretch of 25 minutes without being checked on and I finally had to literally grab another server to request the check since we had to leave immediately ... no time to even refill my water glass which had been empty for 20 minutes or so. I regret that the poor service compromised the mood of the evening, but assume it was simply due to being understaffed on a busy holiday."

  • "Sanford's provided a wonderful traditional Thanksgiving meal in a warm, relaxing dining space tastefully decorated for the upcoming Christmas season. Our server was terrific - full of helpful suggestions, attentive, but allowing us to enjoy our meal in peace. Had never eaten here before, but will definitely go back, as there is much on the menu to explore."

  • "We chose Stanford's for Thanksgiving because they offered a served turkey dinner at a reasonable price. The portions were generous, with both white and dark meat, and included all the trimmings. One discordant note was the zucchini side dish which was not a good pairing; green beans or Brussels sprouts would have been a better choice. Also, the rolls should have been warm. For dessert we ordered pecan pie a la mode which was way too sweet on its own and also had a cloying butterscotch sauce drizzled on top. Service was welcoming and well-paced but at times too intrusive. It's really isn't necessary for servers to "rate" each customer's choices. Overall, Stanford's has proven to be a reliably good spot for a nice meal."

  • "My husband and I enjoyed the turkey dinner served on Thanksgiving. Real white and dark meat turkey was served, as opposed to the pressed reformed turkey. There was plenty of meat per serving. The only downside to the dinner was the pecan pie that we ordered for dessert. On previous visits it had been made mainly from pecan halves and now it was formed from tiny bits of pecans filled in with lots of corn syrup. It was way too synthetic and sweet."
