  • "I had the steak dinner: steak, baked potato, and asparagus. Each of those three things was outstanding. They are able to do medium rare steaks medium rare, a task many restaurants don't seem able to do."

  • "I had the beer cheese soup, and it was outstanding. The flavors stood out. Often others sell beer cheese soup that tastes more like a chicken base they have used than either beer or cheese. to this soup. It was great!"

  • "This is a great place to go if you go in a group and need a place to hear everyone in your group. Expect to pay a high price for the level of food though. I think the average starting age of all in there was 55. Quiet so you were able to talk but not a happening place."

  • "We had a business luncheon meeting and had 10+ people. The tables were all set up ahead of time and we had plenty of elbow room for papers and materials. The food was really good, the staff was attentive to ensure we had plenty of refills and great at some special diet requests. Everyone was friendly, positive and accommodating. The vibe of a restaurant can help win or sink a deal. The setting was perfect for our meeting and it was a great success."

  • "Everything (except salad) had way too much butter or oil. Son had cheese burger - too much butter or oil on the bun. Bread that accompanied dinner - too much oil or butter in addition to the cheese - could not eat it. I had rice and vegetables with my prime rim - way too much butter or oil on rice and vegetables - left puddle on plate. Wife had a chicken & bean salad - they ran out of the dressing that was to be on it and had to have a bbq dressing, only a couple of beans, almost all lettuce (very little of expected tomato, etc.) although the chicken was ok. Stanfords use to be a one of our restaurants for special occasions - not anymore. Had a better meal at Applebees that is just across the street. Stanfords is not special anymore."

  • "I had the roasted chicken and mushrooms over mashed potatoes which was wonderful. It was the first time I had had this meal. I substituted their asparagus for the green beans. I received enough for two meals, so I had it again that evening. Warmed up was still a good meal."

  • "Their southwest white bean soup is excellent. I also had a prime rib French dip, of which I could only eat half. Half went home for dinner. It was a very lean sandwich, and would have been a great dipping sandwich that way. Their horse radish sauce, though, is really a step above most horse radish sauce and made this an exceptional lunch."

  • "We sent them back twice, they were over cooked, somewhat burnt and the sauces were salty. We finally gave up on them. The wait staff were very courteous but ultimately could not control the quality of the food coming out if the kitchen."

  • "They are running full steam at times other places are lax during the mid afternoon hours. I had a soup I hadn't had before, the southwest bean soup, and next time I would probably make a lunch of that instead of just a cup of soup. It was wonderful. It was hot, and had enough seasoning to put it beyond just bean soup. I also had the salmon salad which I love always, so it was a fantastic mid afternoon lunch."

  • "My roommate ordered Salmon Oscar and I had tenderloin tips. Our waiter was in a hurry. He took the entree order and left before I could say I wanted a salad, so I had to flag him down to order one. It arrived only moments before the entree. The salmon was delicious and perfectly cooked. The tips were medium well, while I had ordered medium rare, but they were still tasty and tender. The salad was too huge to eat, so I took it home. The real problem this evening was the service. In addition to the above, we sat for probably a half hour with dirty plates. Tonight was just disappointing, but I have experienced better service before so I will be back. The waiter also didn't give us the promotional card all RU locations are giving thru 3/31."

  • "But everything we ordered was so heavily laden with fat, salt, cream, cheese, oil, that we most likely won't go back. Really unfortunate as we really did want to like the place since the menu is good and has a little something for everyone. Great family atmosphere and the server was very accomodating. The drink I ordered was pretty good. But just can't get past the heavy-handedness with the fat and salt in nearly every dish we ordered."

  • "My spouse and I enjoy dining at Stanford's. The food is very good, affordable and the restaurant conveniently located. We also enjoyed dining at Stanford's last Christmas and receiving gift cards to use during the early part of the new year. We will definitely make this a tradition, if the restaurant offers the program this year."

  • "I had the pepper steak and my friend had a flat bread pizza. The steak was fantastic. For added cost you may have asparagus instead of the veggie of the day. The asparagus was grilled and very flavorful. Lots of small spring spears included. My friend's pizza was outstanding. We both took food home, half the steak and half the pizza."

  • "We have been going to Standford's for years and each time we enjoy the food and the ambience. We have alwasy had friendly staff and we keep going back!! That is a good sign that they are doing something right!!!!"

  • "We were seated 15 minutes after our reservation time. There was an hour delay between salad course and main course. The waitperson came by once during that time to let us know food would be out shortly, but it was another 15 wait from that time. The manager walked around twice, but never stopped at tables, made eye contact, offered apologies, or considerations. The food was good, but there are better restaurant options around."

  • "We had a 7:30 resevation and got seated pretty quickly. They were very busy, so i understand it being slow. But it took 10 plus minutes for us to see someone. We placed our oour drink order and food order at the same time. The drinks came in a timely manner, but we did not see our found until 9:15, then when it came out the potatoe's were call on all the plates. Again busy night but that was not expected, the manager did bring hot potatoe's out after we asked."

  • "My wife has always like Standfords as the food never disappoints us. This particular night on Valentines day we noticed that like ourselves a number of couples reaching across the table holding hands. This told me the comfort level provided a moment where the service and food were not an issue and allowed couples to soak up a special moment. A restaurant should complement the moment not distract. Stanfords provides that to keep special moments Special!"

  • "I met a client here for lunch; it is close to his office. My BLT was very good, particularly the bacon. It was not burnt. This was a good sandwich. I substituted cole slaw; it had a bit too much vinegar; I did not eat much of it after the big sandwich. He had a blackened salmon Caesar; he enjoyed it. The service was good and the server was very friendly. She did not try to push any extras too much. Over all, it was a good experience and did not detract from our meeting."

  • "I seem to forget about the salmon salad and immediately choose one of my favorite things. However, when I take the time to read the menu, I often go back to that salmon salad. The apples, walnuts, and goat cheese are great flavor combinations with the salmon. The service is always outstanding, and they are very good about refills of water, coffee, and iced tea."

  • "service was good as always. But food was not up to usual standards. Ordered the steak and lobster tail. Steak was cooked to specifications, but chewy and too much demi glaze was poured on. changed the brie appetizer from being baked on a cedar plank to cooking in a cast iron pan. Would strongly recommend going back to the original preparation. Disappointing visit."

  • "Stanford's has always been our favorite spot for special occasions, and it never disappoints!! The food is always excellent along with the friendly, efficient service. Our favorite servers know what we want before we order ;-) Our only disappointment was when they removed the trees surrounding the Lake Oswego Stanford's patio. It had an intimate feeling with those lovely trees surrounding it, and it seemed to buffer some of the noise from the cars passing by. Now, it is too open to the parking lot and adjacent street. Nothing more unpleasant than seeing cars speeding by while you are having a meal. Thank you."

  • "Very crowded but they did seat us on time. We had to wait a long time for our food to be served but it was hot when it arrived. I think they were just overbooked. Many tables in our area were left messy for a long time. Not a fabulous experience but fine for Christmas."

  • "I was glad that we had reservations for Christmas Day! We were seated immediately, but others were waiting for tables at 4 p.m. There were even more people waiting for tables when we left at 5:30. The service was a little bit slower than normal, but not bad. The food was good, but I would have enjoyed a "special" holiday dinner of turkey or ham. All in all, it was a nice Christmas dinner, but boy was it busy!"

  • "Standford's used to be the best in town, til Restaurants Unlimited purchased the chain. Food changed radically but then they understood the mistake and attempted to change back. Never did get back to where it was before but it did improve. Our Christmas Eve dinner took about 30 minutes to be served. Our excellent server apologized and tried to make it right with comp'd drinks. They are no longer my first choice but still enjoy the atmosphere."

  • "This was a last minute decision to eat out. Made the reservation with Open Table. Our table was ready when we arrived. The server was super. Her name was Sarah F. The drinks were well prepared and were served promptly. The food was delicious. We opted to share everything and it was a good choice as the servings are large. We are planning to return soon."

  • "I had the small lobster and steak option, and it was very good. The steak was medium instead of medium rare, but it was still tasty. The butter with the lobster was very lemony and very garlicky, just as I like it. There was enough of the butter to use on the mashed potatoes which would have been dry without it."

  • "I've been to Stanford's many times but this will be the last for a while. We waited at least 20 to receive our order from the bar. The waitress was apologetic but this is completely unacceptable. The food was pretty good. Steaks were fine but the fries were cool and mushy. The sandwich was also presented messily and wasn't that good. One of the martinis was served without olives. What???"
