Diner Reviews
  • "Good food as usual. Like the dining rewards and special rewards program with the restaurant chain, prompting me to dine there more often. Some sites fairly close to home for us, making it more convenient."

  • "We were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. So glad we made a reservation. We both had the grilled steak salad. It was excellant. The meat was cooked perfectly, the dressing tasty, and the cheese bread was to die for. We will definitely return."

  • "We usually go to the Stanford's at Lake Oswego, or at the Clackamas Towne Center. Both are just fine. Good food, good service. NOT SO at Jantzen Beach. Food below standard, restaurant untidy, table not well kept, even the menu was "sticky" from the last customer? I would go to Denny's before I spent any time returning to this location. Sorry, this one let me down."

  • "We took 4 of our friends to the restaurant and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. I had a prime rib and usually never have it , but boy was it delicious. i was treated to a $100 gift card and a $50 gift card and a 10% discount from Stamford's and so the $205 bill came down to $35. It was so nice but I did give the gal a very nice tip. My husband had the fajaitas but he was not thrilled with them. but over all the rest of the group also enjoyed their meal. Jean Bartholomew"

  • "We had a business recognition lunch at Stanford's. It's a good place for that as the food and service are good and it's relatively quiet."

  • "Was glad we had reservations. When we arrive, at 6:15, the restaurant was full and many, many people waiting to be seating. We were seated immediately, but one of the worst seats in the house. When we inquired about moving to the both next to it, were told someone had specifically requested it. That was not believable. It felt like the hostess just did not want to accommodate. Th start, service was slow , bar was waaaaay, backed up, but eventually waitress got up to speed and addresses our every need. The evening was enjoyable with above good food."

  • "We love dining at this Stanford's. It's the best service and food around. The ribs are amazing!"

  • "Good service, a little slow to take our order. The bacon on one of the orders was blackened and didn't look or taste appetizing; my friend ordered her chicken sandwich without bread so the bacon was exposed and overcooked. Deserts were very good. All 3 other meals were good."

  • "The food, service, and ambiance were perfect. At one point we noticed that the salmon was under cooked, which my wife was eating. I called over a server who said "we cook it a little 'rawer' than other places" however our server rushed over and made it right. Took it back to be cooked properly and returned with a replacement."

  • "We were late due to unusually heave traffic! The Hostes still had us seated in 15 min on Valentines eve I was very surprised and extremely happy. The food was prepared just rite and the service was great as always!"

  • "No bread or salad that is offered. The 12oz $30. rib eye had an inch of fat on the outside and middle of steak. The lobster was a joke. Was still a little Hungary after dinner, ordered dessert which was very good.I guess that's why they don't have bread or salad before meals so that you might buy dessert. "it worked"But wont be back."

  • "While a bit pricey, Stanford's continues to be one of my favorites. While their food is what I would consider average-good, their servers are always wonderful and their desserts are scrumptious. During the summer, we love to come and sit on the patio and sip iced tea. Plus, it's great for a couples night out such as a birthday or Valentines Day. We like the bar for Game Day as well. Overall, its really the atmosphere that makes this restaurant and thats why we love it."

  • "They have the most amazing colby beef hamburger with a crab sauce. This hamburger will melt in your mouth. Have that along with their salmon soup which has great flavor and big chunks of salmon in it. Kuddos to the chef, that is why I continue to come back!"

  • "I made reservations for 6pm . Due to traffic we were running a bit late, on valentine's day. One simplebphone call and there was still a table waiting for us. Great service, great drinks!"

  • "The overall taste and quality of food was really nice. The atmosphere is quiet and private, but the whole experience was negated by the cost and lack of side dishes with main courses. When I order a $29 ribeye, it ought to come with salad, soup, or bread. Yet at Stanfords, you will pay extra for any of the above. Our steaks were tender, flavorful, and cooked well. The salmon was bland and unimpressive. Cobbler bad, cheesecake good. For the overall cost, we expect more. We could get the same experience for a lower price elsewhere. We have payed comparable prices for a much better experience elsewhere. We enjoyed the quiet and private environment, but the prices will probably take us to restaurants that price their experience more accurately."

  • "We took my elderly parents to a special Christmas dinner out, because they often go only for a sandwich closest to home. My mother in particular enjoyed ordering and eating the salmon! The service was excellent!"

  • "Had a nice dinner with the family. Food was very good and the service was good. The waiter was very accommodating and just forgot a couple of things, but was quick to act and bring the wine that he forgot, etc. Love this restaurant and will be back."

  • "I met my elderly mother and several family friends for a wonderful 2 hour lunch at Stanfords. None of us had been there before, and we were pleasantly surprised. The cost was a bit high, but the food was excellent and service was well done. Definitely try their cedar plank salmon and their onion rings if you get a chance. Yum!"

  • "But the ads for places open on Thanksgiving were really sparse this year. I ordered a non-alcoholic beer, and was told they had O'Douls and Hackebeck of that ilk. The server brought me -a straight alcoholic Heinekens, and argued with me when I told him it wasn't non-alcoholic. Then he brought an O'Douls, and a few minutes later the manager of some sort came and told us it was somebody's fault, but not theirs. Made a mountain out of a molehill, and long after I let go of it. Meanwhile, the overpriced and kind of meager turkey dinners arrived. They passed out coupons and membership applications for something.....I think they are trying for a dining experience rating; but lack attention to detail as to the things that earn that rating."

  • "My family and I had Thanksgiving here and although the food was tasty there was not a lot on some of their plates. They offered no bread/rolls or salad. Salad is extra and apparently bread is too expensive for them to offer. In that it was Thanksgiving I feel these things shoukd have come with the meal, and how nice it would have been to offer pumpkin pie as a special treat. It was not busy and I feel maybe they just don't come off as a Portland friendly kind of place."

  • "We went here on a Saturday night. Our server was great, very attentive. Drinks were good. The one complaint was with the food portions. My husband ordered a steak and it came out with a 4oz piece of steak with essentially one asparagus and maybe a little jicama (turnip maybe?). It's a good thing he had the soup earlier. I fared slightly better with my salmon, mashed potatoes, and asparagus but everything still only took up a quarter of the space on my plate. I'd been here years ago and I remember the portions being much larger. Everything tasted ok but I think it had sat under the warming lights for a while. We will probably come here again but I might pick my entree more closely."
