We've been there for dinner a few times, but this was our first brunch experience, and we were really impressed by the food! The benedicts were amazing (we got the crab & the filet mignon benedicts). We enjoyed the free mimosa and the french press coffee. Stanford Grill is a great place for a nice, relaxing, not-your-average brunch. I took two business associates to lunch the other day and truly enjoyed the outdoor dining. The tables are well separated so your conversations remain private and the food---well I never have anything but high marks for their efforts. Green salad with salmon filet, club sandwiches large enough to share with two and wonderful, witty wait staff with a friendly smile and sense of humor. Although the noise level is high, we still enjoyed the food. The wait staff is always courteous and friendly. Only had a problem with my dessert, but they didn't charge me for it. The hostess was immediately attentive and friendly. Our waiter, Mark, was awesome! We told him we were not in a hurry and wanted to enjoy the evening. He allowed us to enjoy our wine and appetizer before sending our dinner order to the kitchen. We lingered through dinner, and another bottle of wine, and he checked on us without being intrusive. The food was fresh, the service impeccable and the atmosphere energetic! I was a repeat customer to the restaurant and will continue to be so! She knew all the intimate details of the menu items and went out of her way to serve our group. We had two special dining requests due to food allergies. She gave us service with a smile. The ambiance lets you know you're in for a quality evening. There's a two-man jazz group performing to add an undercurrent of class to the meal. The menu is not overly extensive but coupled with the nightly specials there's plenty to pick from. The portions are exceedingly generous, helping justify the pricing, and there's no embarrassment in needing plastic packaging for the leftovers. A good, solid wine list complements the well-prepared food. Service was impeccable without being intrusive and the team concept insures that our needs were always met in a timely manner. The only thing I would comment about is that they've changed their Caesar salad over the years and not for the better; the current one contains unusual ingredients along with a peppery dressing unlike any I've ever had on this type of salad. I prefer the original. Also be aware that soup is a bowl and not a cup and is rather filling. The prime rib melted in my mouth and I was glad I requested that it be finished on the grill which gave it an extra special flavor. Our waiter, Jeff, provided exceptional service exceeding our expectations. What I liked about the menu was the size; small enough to allow them to prepare food well but not too small to allow a good selection. My wife had crab cakes which she said were very good and I had their signature rotisserie chicken which I enjoyed. Sides included mashed potatoes and green beans that were well done. Portions are huge.
Dessert was free as guests of the neighboring hotel. The bread pudding that was so good that it brought tears to my eyes. I was greeted with warm and welcoming smiles from the hostesses and was promptly seated well before my actual dinning seating (8PM). My waiter Mark was excellent! He was well versed and knowledgeable, siting the nightly specials from the menu, and making food and drink recommendations to help me decide the night's meal. My entree' selection was well presented and generous in portions! The night was capped off with the sounds of the jazz trio playing in the distance, accompanied with a very healthy portion of bread pudding which Mark comped from my bill as an annisersary gift. It is quite apparent they focus on the Customer Service Experience as the staff is attentive, friendly, and energetic. The Stanford Grill and Copper Canyon work within a team environment so that someone is always at hand to help. The kitchen is accommodating and the food is always great. They have a great brunch menu on Sunday as well although you should note it is limited selections, with one complimentary beverage. (Nice!) At brunch and dinner, they have live music which creates a very nice ambiance. For me, the portions are large and if they could make them a bit smaller, I'd be able to comment on their desserts. On my recent visit, I was seated promptly, offered a beverage and made welcome while I awaited my lunch guests. We go to this gem of a restaurant to celebrate our birthdays, anniversaries, and sometimes just for lunch. My most recent stay was to give my visitor a send off before his departure back to Raleigh. I think that our meal together here was one of the highlights of his visit. He remarked on the ambience and fireplaces. The wait staff was very personable, I would name each of them by name if I could recall each of them. From the hostesses to the waiters we were very well attended to in every way. Our meals consisted of the crab cakes w/ a side of mash and broccoli, the rattlesnake pasta, and the bbq ribs, and skillet cornbread. We started with the best spinach artichoke dip we have ever had. For dinner my wife had the chicken pot pie and I had the wood-fired rotisserie chicken. All very excellent.
