A word from Stagioni
Where tradition and modernity collide. The authentic Italian Restaurant opened in 2014 in the Myers Park neighborhood and features classics with a fresh, modern twist. Since opening their first restaurant 13 years ago, the Moffett's know from experience that life's greatest memories unfold around the dinner table and created Stagioni to bring friends and family together.
As seasons change, so do our appetites and food habits. Stagioni, which means "Seasons" in Italian, sets the stage for what the restaurant is about. Chef Larry Shreiber utilizes fresh, locally sources ingredients to create a seasonal menu filled with hand-made pastas, wood-fired Pizzas and slow-roasted meats.

  • "The menu at Spagioni is not your typical Italian fare. There are several small plate items to choose from and most of them are not recognizable. The stuffed peppers, stuffed cabbage, and quail were excellent. The rigatoni just so-so - sauce to strong. Drinks were top notch. The noise is stifling, but a fun place. All and all - an 7 out of 10."

  • "I had high hopes from a friends review of this restaurant. I unfortunately was very disappointed. The menu was limited. I expected more "Italian" style dishes. The tomato bread was soaked with garlic so much I could not taste anything else after that. I ended up getting a bunch of side vegetables and dish of angel hair pasta. Even the pasta was a disappointment, it was dry and sticky. I really wanted to like this place, the ambiance was lovely. The wine was good, and the best part of the meal was the little bread rolls with dinner. Our waiter seemed very busy, but was attentive and took care of our disappointment by adjusting our bill which was greatly appreciated."

I was there to celebrate my birthday and not only did the restaurant do absolutely nothing not even a "Happy Birthday" thrown my way, but the waitress was condescending and did not attend us well.   • "Really impressive effort here: from the decor, to the service, to the outstanding Italian fare on the menu. Particularly loved the open kitchen in the back of house, and the intimate feel of the space, as though we were in someone's home. Service was very attentive and the meal was exceptional, from the meat and cheese plate to the gnocchi and risotto. Plenty of fresh flavors and thoughtful combinations. This easily becomes a regular for date night or to impress out of town friends and family."

  • "My husband and I dined there on a Thursday evening and went to have salad, wine and Pizza. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The restaurant was full and very noisy. You almost had to scream at times to be heard. We sat at our table too long before any one inquired about some thing to drink. The waiters seemed preoccupied and not attentive enough. We finally received our drinks and told our waitress we had come to just have salad and try the pizza for a light meal. But for some reason, she brought our pizza first as if it were an appetizer. She admitted her mistake but did nothing to remedy it and said our salad would follow shortly. There seems to be some confusion and timing difficulty. Food, though, was great."

  • "We were expecting great things but was quite disappointed. soup was quite good and small pizza was fine (but certainly not stellar nor a value). They're using good ingredients but seem to be they trying to reinvent Italian without first mastering the basics - unsuccessfully so far. A pasta dish was really tasteless, which is amazing, since it was house made. I saw at another table that the same dish was almost completely uneaten at the end of a meal, as was mine. Sausage appetizer with veg was fairly bland but completely overpowered by some chili "jam". Chilies seem to be in a lot of the dishes, without much thought. Food needs a lot of work. OK room decor; only color in the rooms were the red T-shirts of the waitstaff..."

  • "I was disappointed overall. I couldn't get the time slot I really wanted and had to go earlier but yet when the time I had wanted arrived, there were many available tables. The food was ok - nothing too interesting. The appetizer was great. My main dish was basically fish on top of tomatoes and it was pricey for the portion?? Dessert was my least favorite. I know that there is a current trend towards using savory flavors/ingredients in dessert, but it was overkill - my cannoli tasted greasy and salty - not what one expects of a cannoli. Sorry, not trying to be overly negative, but I do eat out a lot and make it to all the top restaurants in Charlotte. I probably will not return unless someone insists on going."

  • "This was my first trip to Stagioni and it did not disappoint. The dining room is quite busy all the way up until closing (at least on a Saturday night). My date and I decided to move into the bar area since it is much quieter. My personal recommendation would be to do the bar area for a date night, but any other time to enjoy the traditional open style Italian kitchen of the dinning area. I will certainly be back with friends to enjoy this. I was impressed with the food. I had the veal saltimbocca and it was excellent. The portions were great also. I cleaned my plate and didn't feel like my pants button was going to pop off. This place is a great find with an excellent atmosphere, very good food, and its in a really cool building."

My husband and I were yelling to each other instead of just conversing. We both said thank goodness we did not come with other couples. We would never be able to talk with one another. I don't think we will be going back again....."

Next time, definitely want to sit at the kitchen bar.   • "Mansion looks better from the outside than inside. Noisy dining room which seems to be mostly food preparation area. Drink prices are outrageous including $16 for a Maker's Mark Manhattan and $13 for a Grey Goose Martini. Parking is difficult if you don't get one of the few spaces out front."

  • "We knew this restaurant had mixed reviews, but decided to give it a try. We were in and out in 50 min as the wait staff hurries your dinner along. Not acceptable on a Friday night. To say the least the food was disappointing - Olive Garden would have been much better. Gnocchi that the waiter raved about was flavorless - appetizers were marginal. This restaurant gives a vibe that you can't get reservations (just like their other 2 restaurants) which is laughable. We have mentioned to all of our friends how terrible the experience was and friends that had been completely agreed. We left there and met friends at another restaurant for dessert. This restaurant won't be open long."

  • "I've eaten at Stagioni several times. I've never been disappointed. The place looks great and pays homage to the original home owner, from what I understand. The menu changes frequently and everything we've had has been outstanding. It's a lively place and can be loud but I wouldn't expect different in a small restaurant/bar that is this popular. I guess some people have a cup that is half full sometimes..;) Also, if you don't know the difference from bacon and prosciutto and bacon, you probably should refrain from doing restaurant reviews. Favorites have been the saltimbocca, baby octopus, stuffed peppadews, and the gemelli. As a with all the Moffit restaurants, this is another great one!"

  • "We had an early reservation with plenty of room, for some reason we were seated next to a large party. Our server's attention was either taken with this party or later on it was on his other 2 table of 4, not on us, the couple. The couple next to us also seemed to be frustrated to get attention. The bus boy was very nice and went out of his way to get us replacement silverware and clearing plates. Our server assumed we wouldn't want wine after ordering cocktails and then assume we didn't want anything for dessert. Got the feeling he just wanted us gone to turn over the table. We usually spend $150 - $250 for 2 at dinner, enjoying courses and drinks. I guess we didn't seem like we would be 'big spenders' compared to the other tables."

  • "The service was good. Nothing on the menu was really outstanding except the cauliflower and green onion soup. The arugula salad was nice but just average. Saltimboca was very salty. Portion sizes were quite small which was OK since it was not great. We selected this restaurant based on web site which said it was in a mansion, so I was surprised that it must have been a dark corner, perhaps an old garage. Instead of the more sophisticated place I had expected, it was a low ceiling, rather dark wood lined cave. The table top was extremely small and I felt the need to keep moving my glass, cutlery, etc. to find room and being careful when trying to set my wine glass back on the table. The visible kitchen was clean."

  • "Wife and I went for our anniversary and got seated at 7:50. We ordered drinks and a pizza appetizer. We placed our dinner order about 8:10. We started asking about our food around 8:45pm. We were told our order was delivered to someone else. Then that the kitchen messed up. Again we complained around 9:10. Meanwhile - folks had been seated next to us after we ordered dinner and they had finished and paid their bill. It was unbelievable. Not once did a manager come over to our table to explain, apologize or otherwise. Finallly at 9:25 I told them to cancel our order and that we were leaving. Then.....they brought over our bill!!!! Unbelievable. Truly unbelievable."

  • "Tiny place with parking behind the restaurant off Fenton. Lovely apps! The Arroncini balls with the lemony aioli were amazing as was the pork belly. There were 3 of us and we all share. Loved the pheasant and the pasta special which was lobster, chili and angel hair pasta. Pork chop was very good, my friend loved it more than I did. For dessert the gelatos were delicious, creamy, smooth. The Zeppoli served with them were hot, puffed and dusted with powdered sugar! The chocolate torte was equally excellent . Nice wine list, we had the Scire, Bolgheri Rosso. Will definitely go again."

I may have set my expectations a little high on the atmosphere as it was bright and open and with less décor than I may have expected. The food and service were good.   • "wonderful location, excellent food, impeccable service. lovely atmosphere, but with one overwhelming exception: the noise level detracted substantially from the entire dinner experience. the restaurant was full, and the two of us were seated at a small table. we could not carry on a conversation because of the noise level. i would not return there for an evening meal because of that. perhaps a lunch would be different."
