Diner Reviews
  • "The decor was old (from the 80s?), and you could tell that it has not been updated in a long time. A bad smell was coming from a bathroom mixed with smoke of hookah. The whole place was cheaply decorated and old. I wish the owners had a glimpse of some restaurants in Russia. Most restaurants in Russia feel so clean and upscale and the service is immaculate! Unlike this one! Can't believe that they are inviting famous Russian singers to this place! This gives Russia a bad name! Another thing that bothered us: the performance. The "Russian" dances poorly choreographed, featuring some awful short costumes (underwear showing - not elegant). What about that image of a pure Russian woman floating like swans? Only the Turkish guitarist was good."

  • "Arrived at 5:10. It took 45 minutes to get a small plate of 3 salmon/cream cheese blintzes. There were 2 other diners total, so not yet busy. We were told everything takes longer because everything is made on site. Ordered lobster pierogi and beef stroganoff. At 6:35 I asked if we were close to ready because we had to leave in 15. Food comes, lobster very tasty but unfiling. Stroganoff had no flavor - just beef with red sauce in a small soup crock and a small serving of half-mashed potato. Ate in 10, left in a hurry and left hungry after nearly 2 hours."

  • "This place should have been closed that night to let their employees off for the fireworks. We were the only table in there that night and the show was somewhat boring. I know the place lost business that night by being open and having to pay the talent. They should have made an announcement that they were going to cancel the performance that night and eveyone would have been happier. The least they could have done was comp some of our food or bought us a round of drinks for staying there all night. We only stayed because we felt sorry for them."

  • "On entering the restaurant, there was a noticeably musty smell. This was made worse by the poor air conditioning. We were not aware that dinner didn't start till the show at 8, and we arrived at 7:15. The wine I ordered was spoiled, but the waiter did readily serve me a better glass of another wine and took the previous off the ticket. The salmon was very good, but the beef stroganoff was very bland, and was served with mashed potatoes! The salad was good but very small. The vaudeville like act started about 8:20. It was very corny but the sax player was good, and Ruskie Rose had a great throaty voice."

  • "This was our third attempt at this restaurant and this experience was the worst. The food is mediocre. The web site said 7:00. We made reservations for 6:45 only to find out dinner starts at 8: 00 and the started later. The show was unprofessional and very disappointing. We left before the end of the show and did not feel that we missed anything. Each visit was worse than the visit before. Their website misrepresents the restaurant and their shows and they don't have half of the items on their menu. Overpriced for the quality and portions of their food. Please stay away!!"

  • "Service was awful with only 2 waitresses for the entire restaurant."

  • "Upon entering, it felt like we had been invited to a special party. The high ceilings were draped with white cloth and the light fixtures hung down in cascades of sparkle. The seating was very comfortable with all tables having a great view of the stage and dance floor. The male singer sung traditional Russian songs, but explained them in English with a little humor. His female dance partner performed a variety of dances and got everyone up on the dance floor. She was very charming and her costumes were exquisite. The food was so delicious, and the waitstaff very friendly that we will definitely make St. Petersburg Nights a mainstay whenever we are here and will definitely recomend it to our friends and family."

  • "Six of us went for the first time to this Russian restaurant. The food was slow in coming out however they cook everything from scratch so we did not mind waiting plus it gave us a chance to visit. We were finished eating by the time the show started. The show was only two artists but they worked very hard to entertain the sparse audience. We enjoyed the show but thought a little long. I would return."

  • "My wife and I went simply because the occasional ads I had seen were enticing. But now that we have been there, we are certain to return. The food was both reasonably priced and simply amazing and the personalized service was wonderful. Our waitress made us feel at home by explaining their dishes and being present when we needed her. The Saturday night dance entertainment was a bit sparse but was nonetheless quite entertaining. And the keyboard player/singer/songwriter was absolutely terrific; very engaging. "

  • "While the food was ok, the music was far too loud past 8 pm for any conversation. I asked our Lithuanian waitress if she could ask the musician to turn it a little lower so we has background music, but she shrugged her shoulders and said she could not tell the musician on his organ to turn it down. The floorshow otherwise existed of two girls that show danced in different costumes. One dance set was clearly Russian but the others seemed to be belly dances from the middle east which does not relate torussiaRussia. I will not be coming back."

  • "Kitschy but so much fun. The food and service were great, and we were super entertained. Be prepared to let go and have some fun; it is not a quick experience, but rather an involved one. Highly recommended for people looking for something new and fun in every respect."

  • "Got there at 8, There was no one to greet us at the front door to tell s where to go. Once we got to a seat, she asked us for our drink order but did not give us a menu or tell us what was the specials. She then came and asked us for our food order but we didn't know what was on the menu. She did not tell us what came with the three courses we had to ask. The salad was just lettuce, tomatoes, and 2 pieces of cucumber with some oil based dressing. The main course as Better. I had the beef and my guy had the salmon. Both were good but the Salmon was the best. The cake was a slice of chocolate cake that was dry and not very good. We left during the show b/c the women were not very cute they were older and it was just not a very good show."

  • "We ate there on a Thursday with free entertainment but it was suggested we return the next night for a better experience as there would be a better show, but we only stayed for the dinner to see how it was and were satisfied with what we ordered. It was good but I wouldn't consider it a favorite."

  • "Not only was there NO PARKING, but when we arrived, my wife and I were told there was a $20 charge for the show, something that was not clear when I made the reservation online. At first, the girl at the door told my wife it was $20 for entry, then she said it was $20 EACH. When I explained that we were not told, she apologized and said that someone should have told us. I decided we should leave. We turned around and walked out, and the girl protested, saying she could make a "two-for-one" exception for us. That was completely unsatisfactory, since we were only looking for dinner. I cannot recommend anything other than that. Personally, on general principles, I will never return. If someone else wants to give it a shot, be warned."

  • "We went to this restaurant with another couple. It took 20 minutes to get a drink order and over an hour to get our food. The Burlesque show was terrible and the sax player was a fake as well as the lip singers. I would not recommend this place to anyone I know."

  • "This experience was entertaining for my husband and I. The food was decent; service good and entertainment was engaging and fun. Show was a little cheesy but hey, we like cheesy. Would do this again and would probably take some others for an entertaining night."

  • "We attended the Suncoast Burlesque Festival Gala and despite there only being a moderate crowd it was like pulling teeth just to get water for our table. We would have loved to get food but considering what it took to get water we didn't even try to order anything else. Our "server" seemed like he had never waited on a table in his life. We were there for over two hours and had to fight to get water and coffee. Then when it was time for us to pay, the check came rather quickly however 20 minutes went by and I still hadn't gotten my change! I finally waived the boy down and told him we really had to go and I needed my change and he had the audacity to ask me if I could "just wait 5 minutes" .... as much as I wanted to go off on him I didn't."

  • "We enjoyed the interactive cabaret mystery show with the talented dancers and singers. Our only disappointment is that we were not offered the extensive buffet choices of vegetables and entrees that were featured on the website. Our choice between three entrees only included a small salad, but none of the mouth watering vegetables we were expecting."

  • "Restaurant smelled musty when you walk in the front door. One of the hokiest shows I have evern experienced, obviously a platofrm for "Lana" to get her 15 minutes of fame."

  • "the show was a bit hokey but it was entertaining. the service was extremely slow, took almost 40 minutes for 2 cups of tea and 2 cups of coffee. took another 30 minutes to get a drink from the bar. we order the cherry perogies that were to be flaming cherry jubile they didn't taste like cherry they tasted more like strawberry and they were very small and did not come out flaming."

  • "We had purchased a Living Social coupon. We drove 33 miles to St. Petersburg on Nov. 1st. The owner of the restaurant would not honor the coupon because she said it didn't go into effect until Nov. 15th, which was not stated anywhere including Living social and the restaurants website. Living Social refunded our money. We won't be returning."

  • "When we went there it was early evening 6PM I guess they are not used to having people come before 7PM. They had to give us a table at kitchen entrance though we were the only customers as they were trying to do the table arrangements for the evenings reservations. The waitress was attentive, but she was also required to set up the rest of the restaurant, so there was no real ambience, just people moving tables around. The food was okay, no much in spices, but this was our first try at "Russian" food. The potato & garlic starter was good, but everything else was bland. Not a great night for a birthday out, but it was "different" It was decorated in typical eastern block style. A little of everything put in a old building. But they did try."

  • "Once a month, St Petersburg Nights hosts the 1001 Nights Dance Showcase. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time and, if you are interested in eating, it's best to get there before the show at 8pm. The dance show is put on by an amazing group of artists; you don't want to miss it! St Petersburg nights is the best venue for it also. Come out for a great show and really good food!"

  • "at the "nights", my wife and i were greeted immediately and seated. our waitress was timely and very helpful with menu and drink selections... and some russian lessons in language was educational as well. the beef stroganoff and the lamb kabobs were perfection and authentic as i remember during my stay in russia. the live entertainment by natasha on violin was first class and kept us spellbound throughout our appetizer, main course and dessert. all served with a smile and lively conversation. the bar staff was professional and well experienced. we definitely were impressed with St. Petersburg Nights and plan on attending their many functions and shows as well as authentic cuisine done perfectly!"

  • "The show was the only highlight. Waited over 2 hours for an entree I could not eat- was the worst food I have ever had at a restaurant. Will never, ever go back."

  • "This restaurant transports you to to another place (Russia) and time ! As a dinner club, the entertainment by The White Russians was fabulous and the cuisine authentic Russian. The Chicken Kiev was mouth watering. If you want to have a unique dining experience give this restaurant a try!"

  • "I live in Tampa and was so thankful to have found this place. The show was cute and cheesy... and awesome. The host was wonderful and the dancer was charming. The service could have used some help, but she was sweet nonetheless."

  • "We never ate because we got there early and the guy at the door told us there was no entertainment and he didn't know what we were talking about. He also told us that the web site is not up to date. We didn't understand. There was no one there and this was around 7 o'clock. So, we told him, we would pass as we wanted a place that had entertainment too."

  • "I had heard of this place through Hip Expressions dance studio and was very impressed! I took a group of ten people to the restaurant for my birthday. Unfortunately, the beach entertainment was rained out, but that's Florida. The restaurant was great. The food was amazing! The band was fantastic and the little ones really enjoyed the dance floor. The service was very slow, so it's not a place to grab a quick bite, but for an event or get together I would highly recommend the place."

  • "I am an Activities Director at a retirement community. My daughter and I personally went to check out restaurant/show prior to committing to taking my seniors there. I was a little disappointed in the decor upon entering. We had to wait for service, drinks, bread, salad was tasty but small. Plating of food had no pazzaz! A small amount of Beef Stroganoff (meat was tough), two small mounds of mashed potatoes and two wedges of tomato, dessert was a small slice of chocolate cake. The cost of Dinner and Show was $50.00. The show started slow (and late) but picked up momentum. Encouraging more audience interaction would have added to the show. Overall the evening wasn't BAD, BUT it wasn't GREAT either!"

  • "Some of the best food I've ever had, I want the recipe for that dipping sauce. The entertainment, though mostly in Russian was very good but the restaurant itself looked like it had not been updated in the last 20 years. The fact that it is on the street mentored parking is a problem, especially for the handicapped as there are no handicapped parking spots anywhere near the restaurant"

  • "If you are looking for something different to eat, then St. Petersburg (Russia) restaurant has some interesting and tasty foods, Not spicy at all, but very flavorful. Nice beer list, but not every beer is available. The ambiance just wan't there. It was just a dark room with dark colored walls and cute tables. It could have been just any type of local restaurant in its past. Even a local pub. The lighting was low and we had to lift our menus up above the table to read them. Maybe that's the way of the old eastern block? IDK. I recommend this restaurant only for its interesting foods."
