I don't work for the Grill but like going there and typically do a few times a month. The restaurant is in my opinion, one of the top restaurants in Minnesota. The lunches are excellent and the dinners are even better. The interior is done in a classic dark wood finish which is really warm and inviting. The menu is a bit pricy, especially for dinner but it is absolutely worth it. There was an April prix fixe menu which was a really good bargain. I had lamb for the appetizer, the ribeye with mushrooms for the main course, and a very rich chocolate cake with ice cream and caramel for dessert all for only $50. My wife had delicious trout with asparagus. The noise was moderate -- not subdued, but not overwhelmingly loud either. We were in the far end of the restaurant, though, and closer to the front near the bar was louder and more energetic. Our service was prompt and courteous. The food and service is always outstanding. This past visit the parking situation was a little rough. The St Paul Grill does not have any accessible attached parking, so we due to the very wet weather of Sunday we were quite soaked by the time we got into the restaurant. My husband is in a wheelchair and drives an accessible van so valet parking is not an option either (?) because his van has no driver seat since his wheel chair locks into that place. Never the less once we got into the building we forgot about the wetness and had a lovely anniversary dinner. We shared the wedge salad as a starter, which was great. I had the scallops and she had the swordfish. Both entrees were fantastic. I had a barrel-aged Manhattan, which I would order again. One of the better Manhattan cocktails I have had in recent history. Overall, the restaurant was 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion. Great food and attentive service. Hostess could have been more friendly and the valet service could have been more organized, but those are minor complaints. On a previous visit, I enjoyed the bar area a little more. The night we went, we chose the French Onion soup paired with a Syrah for our first course, a tenderloin and a sea bass paired with a chardonnay for our second, and burnt crème paired with a 10-year old port for our third course. All the flavors were fresh and complemented each other well, and the portions were just right.
