St. John's Restaurant Outstanding placeWe always appreciate the food and service at St John's. This is one of the places in town where we often go for special occasions. Their attention to detail is second to none in Chattanooga.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMClass of its ownMy dining experience at St. John's is a class of its own. It had the ambience that I had not experienced in other restaurants. The wine selection is super and variedly long. Food was tastefully prepared at the right temperature and texture. The waitress was very knowledgeable about everything we asked of her. Simply put, this resto is a fine dining resto and I hope they will live up to their good name and reputation. Thanks for such a place.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAbove and beyondWonderful attentiveness. I left an item and the restaurant called me and offered to mail it to me. Where do you find that go above and beyond service.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful dinner. We had a wonderful dinner. Good service. Pleased to find such fine dining in Chattanooga.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food; excellent winesSt. John's is a long time favorite. Over the course of several un-hurried hours, we enjoyed three courses of imaginative food, expertly prepared, with wine from an expansive list of choices. A local gem. A quiet restaurant with a separate "gathering place" bar alongside.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGrweat food/ knowledgeable staffKuddos to the chef for his creative mix of flavors. We loved every bite! The waiter knew about all of the menu items and could explain in detail how they were prepared. Just a wonderful visit!!!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night! My husband and I were celebrating our Anniversary We had a great experience and great meal!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways tremendous! We always use St. John's for special occasions, and fine dining experiences, and they never fail to deliver with exceptional food and service!
My wife and I drive to Atlanta with great frequency for dining experiences, but we are aways amazed at the great consistency and diverse food selection at St. John.s. They never fail to deliver a wonderfully prepared meal with "spot on" service. In fact...we always
leave wondering why we do not dine at St. John's more often!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThoughtful ServerThe occasion for eating at St. John's was my wife's birthday. My wife did not order dessert, but the thoughtful server at the Chattanooga Restaurant brought her a small sorbet serving with one burning candle in it. She expressed her appreciation, blew out the candle, and enjoyed the sorbet.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGood NightThe food was absolutley wondeful - our server was incredible - we told her of our plans and she asked people at the bar what they would recommend and came back with a response from an owner to come to her store the next day. The only downside to our expereince was that the table we sat at was the European style - not our favorite - particularly since this was our anniversary celebration and we wanted alone time.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMthe taste of "WOW!"St. John's Restaurant has all one would expect from a high-class restaurant: friendly hostess and wait-staff, servers who know the menu and wine list well and who can make suggestions suited to the diners' preferences and tastes, quiet atmosphere, and of course superbly cooked food. As is only right, the hostesses and wait-staff serve to highlight the dining experience: not intrusive yet notice needs; not chatty but willing to be a friendly guide. The décor is simply yet elegant. But it is the food that makes this establishment stand out. I felt like I was eating art. Every bite was delicious. I tried foods that were new to me, some that I wasn't sure I would enjoy. It turns out, I enjoy those different foods!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BestWe were greeted cordially and seated promptly at a corner table for two in a spacious room full of natural light. Our waiter gave us impeccable service. The presentation of the food on our plates was beautiful, and the combination of flavors was delightful and refreshing. Overall it was the best dining experience I've had in the USA.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery impressiveExcellent place. Wonderful service. Unusual and excellent food. Highly recommend.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but over pricedThe food/service/ambience were all fantastic. It just seemed a little overpriced...be sure to bring your plastic!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Special Occasion PlaceWe enjoyed every minute, From the special creations of the talented Chef, to the knowledgeable wait staff, it is by far our favorite restaurant and will remain so. We have never been disappointed but many times we have been surprised by the menu offerings. We will always plan for our special occasions to be celebrated at St Johns.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was spectacular,The food was spectacular, as usual for St. John's. The service was excellent. We had two foodies with us who live in Philadelphia and enjoy the food scene there. One of them commented that the service was perfect. It is unusual to find the combination of great food and great service. St. John's never disappoints.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest fine dining in ChattanoogaAnother great experience.
On our Anniversary.
Great service.
Scallops and salmon that can't be beat anywhere.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful evening! The staff was awesome, the food was delicious... the makings for a wonderful evening. We had the scallops w/ grapefruit and radishes and the potato/ramp/lobster soup for starters. I can't say enough good things about either dish. Both were just perfect. Zabuton Steak and the Pork Tasting were also delicious. The sausage on the pork tastings could become a meal in and of itself! We look forward to our next visit.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe don't live in the area,We don't live in the area, but visited last year and were impressed by St. John's. Dinner this trip was even better, and we highly recommend this restaurant. Upscale yet historic ambiance. Service was excellent and knowlegable. Every item we had, from the amuse bouche to dessert, was superb -- beautifully presented, skillfully prepared, and delicious. Can't wait to return!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreatMy wife and I went there for our anniversary and we were treated great all night. Even got a couple special dishes brought to us at no charge.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTake the time to savor. This establishment is of consistent, high caliber.
Wait staff is well trained.
Take the time to savor each course...each is noteworthy.
Save room to split a dessert.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTopNotchAwesome experience at St John's Saturday night. It's easy to see why it maintains the reputation as the finest dining experience in Chattanooga. Beef Tartare was a surprisingly generous appetizer, Antelope and Leg of Lamb dinners were out of this world. And the service was perfect - gracious, prompt, refill the wine but without hovering.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!We celebrated an anniversary dinner there with another couple. It was great. The service was fabulous and they acknowledged our special occasion with a mid course treat from the chef. Our food was delicious and the ambience is great. St. John came highly recommended as we are from out of town. We will for sure go back there next time we are in town. It was the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOur anniversary dinnerMy wife and I went to st John's for our anniversary. The food was excellent. I ate the bacon and eggs for my first course and it was awesome. My second course was a seasonal special with a N Y strip and short rib. Both were prepared excellent. Our waiter was very patient and gave excellent suggestions. I would l love to go again.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMUnbelievableCompletely Satisfied with very aspect of our dining experience. Will definitely return5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistencySt. John's consistently produces great food and service. A real gem, and quite frankly better than some top rated restaurants in Nashville. Every restaurant occasionally produces a bump along the way, but St. John's always makes it right. When we visit
Chattanooga we dine here at every opportunity.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGood timeMy husband and I enjoyed our dinner. The food was well prepared and was presented in an elegant manner. The waiter
fully participated and was helpful. The special dessert, panna cota, fell below expectation. Overall had a good time
celebrating my husband's birthday.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSt. Johns, Chattanooga, TNService was outstanding (Olivia served our table) First course, "Bacon & Eggs" excellent!. Entre's very nice. All was well. Nice experience.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNew Jersey DinerSt. John's rivals the best in New York but stays true to its Tennessee roots. It has only improved each of the five times I've been here since 2008. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great dining experience. Prices are high by Chattanooga standards but would be extremely reasonable in, say, New York. The menu emphasizes locally raised produce, meats and fish treated inaginatively and artfully presented. The menu identifies the provenance of many ingredients: by county, district, farm or ranch. Service was impeccable with our waitress helpfully explaining certain dishes. The staff displayed that natural Southern friendliness and charm that characterize Chattanooga and make it such an endearing place to visit.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinnerDinner for anniversary, reservations were handled very well, staff was attentive but not forceful. Nice atmosphere, wonderful evening, waiter answered all questions about wine and menu.
Wine list appears to have a high markup, BUT for a special occasion it was worth it and I had read reviews online that mentioned this so I was well aware prior to visiting. Still a great restaurant for a special night out.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding dining in ChattanoogaWe've dined at St. John's several times and it has always been oustanding. This time was no different. We had cocktails to start, both of which were wonderful. We started with raviola and a salad. For mains, I had venison and my wife had halibut. That was followed by ice cream and brownie for dessert. Food was perfectly prepared, with lovely temperature, texture, and taste. All food was plated well and served at a nice pace. We paired it with a great Chateauneuf-du-pape. The waiter was attentive, but unhurried and we had time to enjoy the meal. We dine out a lot around the country and I would rate St. John's as an excellent experience and good value. Great choice for anyone in Chattanooga!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLove St. John's!We absolutely love St. John's! Have celebrated many special occasions there, and made several ordinary days special too! Food is always excellent, service is spectacular, staff is well-versed on all items on the menu. Already looking forward to our next visit!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff knew it was ourThe staff knew it was our wedding anniversary and they went above and beyond their job to make us feel extra special and make our night extra ordinary. We are very appreciative of the way we were treated and the food was excellent!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AM20 stars - a memorable nightA friend recommended your restaurant for my son's first prom date dinner. It was a pleasure to hear both their comments afterwards. Both were extremely satisfied with your establishment. Two of my son's quotes "The atmosphere was like out of a movie scene." and "The food was amazing." His date stated she felt like a princess. Thank you so much for making such a special night more memorable.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSt. John's is a favorite restaurantSt. John's is a favorite restaurant and my wife and I, who live 50 miles away, go there several times a year. It never disappoints. The selection of mains is fairly small but changes fairly often so there is never a 'been there done that' feeling. The fois gras rivals that I've had in the Dordogne. Wherever possible their ingredients are local and organic. I know some of the farmers involved in their supply chain and they are very good choices. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. The chef has managed to maintain a very high level of quality over a number of years and that's something very rare in a restaurant.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant in ChattanoogaGreat find. We have many great restaurants in Cincinnati and St. John's takes a back seat to none of them. Great taste, presentation, and quality, with creativity in every plate. Would recommend it to all who are in Chattanooga. Expected to pay a fair price and was not disappointed in the quality vs. value.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMaybe Chattanoogas best RestaurantEach meal can be prepared "Gluten free" (some items of the meal will be changed/replaced).
I have been there 2 times now (both times with friends) and we experienced a high class dinner. Although I'm a guy taking care of what I eat and not so much what it costs, I am also able to recommend this restaurant for the fair prices. I travel a lot and experienced a lot of good cuisine world wide - however the St.Johns is in my personal Top 10 (and I'm really picky).4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food-- Each dish hadGreat food-- Each dish had great presentation and all flavored were masterfully added in each entree-- exceeded all expectations4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMind blowing as usualDelicious as always and the presentation was amazing. My beet salad was a work of art and kale ricotta gnocchi, are you kidding me!? So good. Wonderful ambiance and nice anniversary dinner.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOVERALL THE MEAL AND SERVICEOVERALL THE MEAL AND SERVICE WAS GREAT, HOWEVER THE NOISE WAS LOUD. WOULD HAVE LIKED TO OF BEEN SEATED IN A MORE QUIET AREA. THE HIGH CEILING AND FLOOR MAKE IT VERY NOISEY.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSt.John's is a great venueSt.John's is a great venue to have a nice dinner with a friends and be able to hear your conversation and get great service at the same time.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMVery very small portions withserviThis restaurant is very expensive but divine! Our server Meagan was the most outstanding and attentive not to mention kind and fun.
Only suggestion we would make is make the portion size a little bigger. We you spend that kind of monies please make the portion a little bigger.
If you are looking for very small plates with great service St. johns is the place. Expect to pay about 100.00 per person with great service.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDevineI truly enjoyed St. John's. The "bacon and eggs" dish was wonderful and the Vontre Sante wine was delicious. We went for a special occasion and weren't disappointed. I would highly recommend St. Johns for a special night out or a great place to experience excellent fine dining.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Downtown spotExcellent service at St. Johns. The food is very good - outstanding steaks. It's a little pricey, but good for a special occasion.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AManniversary dinner, great ambienceAnniversary dinner worked out great with the ambience and pleasant service. Chef even sent something special to celebrate our anniversary. Ordered lamb leg, came with yucca, sauteed bells peppers &onion on spinach bed; my hun had pork chops...everything blended so well and portions were just right. BTW- Best experience eating yucca (normally dont) &the sauce was one of a kind. Had read good reviews online, didn't disappoint. Great server...thanks Misty.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always have such a greatWe always have such a great time at St. John's. My sister and I bring our husbands there every Valentine's Day. They look forward to it all year. The food was outstanding and our server(Ahley M. according to my receipt) was awesome so informative and so efficient. She was knowledgable about the menu and shared when asked. The food was prepared perfectly even my well done steak which some restaurants refuse to do. We were upstairs and the snow was falling it was a perfect experience and it's closeness to the Tivoli works out perfectly to follow up with Big Band Fever.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
