A word from St. Francis
A celebration of sustenance may best describe Chef Aaron Chamberlin’s restaurant, St. Francis. Located in a historic building on Camelback Road, just east of Central in uptown Phoenix, the family-owned, family-built and family-run restaurant welcomes patrons to a neighborhood gathering place. The repurposed space was transformed with a comfortably modern and rustic sensibility that echoes the honest, spontaneous “wood-fired cuisine. St. Francis is for everyday nourishment for families, couples and even for special occasions.
It’s for connecting with the community and sharing the pleasure of simple, honest and good food. The name, “St. Francis,” was derived from the
neighborhood land deed that dates back to 1936. It was originally owned by the Brophy family. In addition, the name, “St Francis,” is Spanish for San
Francisco, a city that figured largely in Chef Chamberlin’s background.

As social director for Sunday brunch...I get to select the eatery. We have been here 3-4 times and enjoy the food and especially the servers. There is jazz being performed during brunch. This it,do we found the music overwhelming . We could converse. The remedy will be to request an outside table...must return!!

The house salad is a winner, the most amazing salad dressing, just the right amount bacon. Sad to report that the scallops ,were as ordinary as the salad was great. Our server raved about the scallops, based on his presentations I ordered the dish, my mistake. They were small, and basically tasteless. In contrast my Wife ordered the Meatballs, which she loved.

This place was featured in one of food networks shows so I had been wanting to check it out. My wife and I decided to make a date night out of it. The place is absolutely beautiful with the patio seating by the fire place. We loved the decor. The food totally matched the decor is quality. The service oh the other side was disappointing. You would expect better from a place of this calibre. It was slow, confusing and all in all not commensurate of the place.

The St. Francis was recommended by a friend for a pre theater dinner. With a formal sounding name, I expected white table clothes, etc. Quite the opposite; the bar was indoor/outdoor when the garage door was opened - tables stainless steel. Food was delicious, and very fresh. Love that they take reservations - and I would highly recommend them - the place was packed when we left at 7:30.

We were in town on business and tried this restaurant based on the reviews of the food. While earlier reviews had some negatives about service, our experience was that the service was top notch. We were seated immediately upon arrival and had everything we needed provided in short order with no more than one request. The food was excellent-lovely combinations of flavors (pumpkin soup with some pomegranate seeds-Wow!) and interesting takes on different items (roasted cauliflower-VERY good). We enjoyed the experience tremendously and now have the restaurant on our permanent "When in Phoenix..." list.

We dine at St. Francis nearly once a week. When we went for brunch this Sunday it started off as usual, then ended up very marginal. It seemed as though halfway through brunch our server abandon us. We then had to flag down another server in order to give our order, which he took happily with a smile and we finished our meal. Our original server then came back to deliver the track. We were very disappointed in the service! The food was awesome as usual. The ambience wonderful as always and we will definitely go back to St. Francis.

A groovy little restaurant whose food lives up to its atmosphere! I had the stuffed peppers which were spicy hot. Luckily I like spicy. The filling was quinoa, and perfectly cooked veggies. Hubby had the skirt steak, which he will not stop talking about. If we didn't live in New Jersey, I'm sure we would be there once a week. Drinks are awesome. Can't wait to visit AZ again to come back to this gem.

We learned about St. Francis from a TV show that featured the iron skillet pancakes, which piqued our interest. We made a reservation prior to the football game for Sunday brunch. It was a wonderful choice (even though a little far from the game). The assortment of goodies on the baker's board were some of the best breads we've ever had. Around the table, each raved about the frittata, the benedict, the tomato-baked eggs, the chorizo scramble and, yes, the iron skillet pancakes. A very pleasant treat was the live music (we hadn't known there would be a jazz trio), which elevated what was already an outstanding brunch experience. Service was excellent. St. Francis is definitely on our list for our next visit to Phoenix.

Looking for a spot outside of our neighborhood and this was recommended. Four adults and two kids went. We had the onion burger, salmon, and pork Verde all wonderful. Kids had flat bread pizza and meatballs. They loved pizza but the meatballs were Moroccan and had a spice that they didn't like but the adults did. The desserts were also yummy...we ordered one of each as there are only three and shared.

Eggs Benedict reigns supreme for Brunch at St Francis. A delightful mix of fresh ingredients come together in sheer perfection. The atmosphere that accompanies the food is hip and trendy. All the way around it was not a good experience. The seating was uncomfortable, the food took at least if not more than 20 minutes to come out and once it did my sandwich was burnt. The waiter hardly checked on us and with the water glasses so small we didn't have anything to drink. Once we were ready to leave I couldn't get the waiters attention so we sat there for a long period just waiting. It was very frustrating but because it was my sons birthday I did not say anything. Had I been in a different situation I would absolutely have brought all this to their attention. It was very disappointing.

Had the Pig Dip sandwich and rank it right up there with the best I've ever had. The roasted pork, gruyere cheese, apple wood bacon and caramelized onions on the French baguette were like a symphony of flavor. And the flatbreads are huge and tasty. The ambiance is more like Chicago or New York than Phoenix. Very lively crowd and busy for lunch. Make a reservation. And oh yeah, I had the flavorful salad with the sandwich and glad I did, the sandwich was huge and the fries would have been over the top. Although they looked really good. We took some close friends to dinner at St. Francis on a Saturday night -- go early (e.g., 6 pm before it gets too crowded, loud - upstairs better than down) and we found it to be just great...staff friendly and attentive; food - guys had the pork chops and ladies the fish - salmon and scallops -- was outstanding -- easily among the top three of places we have eaten at in Scottsdale and Phx area (and, we have eaten at many in our 20+ years here). Not a fancy place (think not like an Eddy V's - no white table cloths) however, it is a great price value compared to Scottsdale restaurants. We are looking forward to going back for a lunch - the pizzas looked fabulous! Give it a try...worth the drive over from almost anywhere in the Valley!

Our first trip to Phoenix has been a lot of fun. St Francis helped to put an exclamation point at the end of our trip. With 3 hungry 20ish sons we knew we had a winner as soon as we walked in the door. The place has got a great vibe with a excellent varied menu that allowed us to try lots of different dishes. I enjoy going to Phoenix Public Market, the sister restaurant to St Francis, so I thought I would check this place out. The food was very good and plentiful! I delightfully took home half of my meatballs and enjoyed them again for lunch the next day. The service was the only thing that was a little lacking. Our waiter worked on his schedule, not ours. Although it was a not very busy Tuesday, he seemed to be trying to rush us out to flip the table. I also had to ask for water several time. I would definitely go back for the food!

Took a friend for her brithday to St. Francis for Sunday Brunch. Food was very good (potatoes were to die for), but it took us quite some time to actually get it (after we ordered we waited about 30 minutes for our food) and the place was not that crowded when we arrived. First time that I ever sat upstairs and I liked it. Less noisy up there. We did have a very pleasant waiter. The coffee was terrible (had to send it back) and the waiter indicated that the coffee is from Cartel coffee and they have gotten multiple complaintas about it. I hope they get a new brew.
