A word from St. Francis
A celebration of sustenance may best describe Chef Aaron Chamberlin’s restaurant, St. Francis. Located in a historic building on Camelback Road, just east of Central in uptown Phoenix, the family-owned, family-built and family-run restaurant welcomes patrons to a neighborhood gathering place. The repurposed space was transformed with a comfortably modern and rustic sensibility that echoes the honest, spontaneous “wood-fired cuisine. St. Francis is for everyday nourishment for families, couples and even for special occasions.
It’s for connecting with the community and sharing the pleasure of simple, honest and good food. The name, “St. Francis,” was derived from the
neighborhood land deed that dates back to 1936. It was originally owned by the Brophy family. In addition, the name, “St Francis,” is Spanish for San
Francisco, a city that figured largely in Chef Chamberlin’s background.

  • "When in the central Phoenix area the St. Francis is a good find!!!!"

  • "My two girlfriends and I met for Sunday brunch on 6/29/14 at 12:30 pm. I have had other delicious meals at St. Francis, but thought I would try something new; the chicken salad sandwich this time. I normally do not eat chicken very often, but have to say this sandwich was SO outstanding that I now find myself "craving" it. It was served like a wrap on flat bread and not a bun. I enjoyed the unusual Middle Eastern flavors that included the zatar spice, apricots and currants. It was blended in a light lemon vinegarette and THANK YOU, NO mayo! The only thing I might eliminate from the sandwich would be the tomato. It really wasn't needed and fell off the sandwich while I was eating it. The live Jazz music was great, too!"

  • "Food was excellent but the jazz band was way too loud. More like a night club than background music at brunch. Customers had to yell to have conversations."

  • "St. Francis is a treat to the eye, the design details were eclectic and unique. At our table we had the stuffed peppers, the pot roast and the Moroccan meatballs. Everything was delicious and impeccably prepared. We will definitely return!"

  • "One of my favorite downtown restaurants. The soups and bread are delicious. Love the French onion burger. Wait staff always super friendly."

  • "If you're into organic and farm fresh foods, this may be the place for you. The restaurant purports to not even own a microwave nor a freezer. I ordered the free range chicken (special) and it melted in my mouth. The plate was creatively arranged with an interesting array of local veggies. We ordered their homemade, fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and shared it at the table...excellent! The restaurant has a neighborhood vibe and we will certainly return again and again."

  • "My wife and I went for our anniversary and St. Francis is truly a gem. Not only is it a beautiful space designed by a well known PHX Architect, the food and service is breathtakingly fantastic! Make sure you grab the bread plate to start - the bread is so good we have to take a loaf home every time we go. She had the pork chile verde with corn bread, I had the pork chop. The combination of flavors that hits your mouth makes your taste buds go wild with delight. The staff was prompt, friendly, and spot on. From fabulous cocktails, bread, food, atmosphere, and service - I'd recommend St. Francis to anyone who enjoys locally sourced, delicious food. A PHX must!"

  • "After seeing the St. Francis on Triple D, we finally had a chance to dine at this wonderful restaurant. Our server, Ryan, was great and the food was delicious. We'll definitely make a return visit."

  • "Great French Onion Burger cooked perfectly to order, Asian bowl excellent with tasty sauce & black rice. Good happy hour. Fun airy ambience"

  • "This was my second visit but the first time was a couple years ago. I always wanted to go back, and finally I did. This time I sat on the 2nd floor which had a lot less noise than the first floor. Food was good; We had Tomato mozzarella salad and cheese flat bread. Salad was good but the flat bread was burnt so although we cut the edge, we couldn't finish the food. Another than that, everything was very nice. The service was good and the ambience was good. If you are new and looking for a local restaurant, you need to go here."

  • "Awesome all the way around. Try the flat bread! Food & service are great. Looking forward to going back."

  • "We wished we could try many things on the menu so we'll have to go back. But lunch was good and good we had reservations. It filled up very fast. The French onion burger was delicious!"

  • "My wife and I had dinner at St. Francis Saturday night before Fathers Day. The restaurant was very busy but reservations were prompt, the service great and the food prepared as described. The only critique would be noise level inside the restaurant; next time we will request outside seating."

  • "We decided to try the St. jFrancis because we saw it promoted on "DDD". The menu looked so creative and it had a funky, fun look. Food was delicious (loved the Moroccan meatballs)and service was great. We will be back."

  • "We went here because we had a meal there previously that was fantastic. We brought friends with us who had never been. The food was excellent, though my mashed potatoes were cold when they arrived at the table. The server sucked big time. So bad that I had to actually beg the matre'd for some bread.. We had asked the server for bread and 15 minutes later, there still was no bread. We also nearly had to ask the matre'd once again to call the server to our table to take our order. I had a great experience the first time there, and we'll go again. But folks, if you feel ignored by your server, talk to the manager --- don't wait and make the experience worse for yourselves."

  • "My husband and I dined at St. Francis after seeing their feature on DDD. This place did not disappoint! You could easily see that so much care was put into everything from the impeccable service to the detailed decor to the delicious food. A live jazz band played during Sunday brunch - what a treat. Complimentary valet was an added bonus. Every dish and drink we tried was amazing. It ruined us as we no longer want to eat out for brunch. Every other restaurant pales in comparison!"

  • "We used to really like St. Francis but it appears the prices have risen and the food quality is not as good - sadly, we were disappointed at our last visit."
    Dined on 6/5/2014
  • "Delicious food served beautifully. The flat bread was delicious as were our main courses. The service was excellent and the surroundings fun. I appreciate the valet parking since their parking lot is very small. I shall return. "

  • "We saw St. Francis on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives and thus we were hoping for a wonderful meal. Unfortunately, while we enjoyed our starter courses and the wine selection, the diner courses let a lot to be desired. There were 4 of us and 2 of the 4 main courses were extremely salty. My friend sent hers back and I really should have sent mine back as well and in fact, I did not finish it. "

  • "Two of us arrived for a 1 pm brunch reservation last Sunday to find a blister of humans waiting to be seated. Indoor seating is tight and the bustling wait staff and ambient noise created by energetic patrons and clumsy busboys create an environment that you'll either love or hate. We began with chilled asparagus mimosa, a traditional presentation with dill-infused tartar sauce and diced egg. The asparagus, perfect this time of year, was beautifully prepared. An omelet with roasted mushrooms and goat cheese was made all the more delicious by the jus that tied the dish together. Finished with the signature dark chocolate skillet pancake, a perfect conclusion to a wonderful Sunday afternoon at one of Phoenix's livelier brunch spots. "

  • "This was my third and final visit here. This was supposed to a fun brunch for a friends birthday. We arrived a little early, and were told that we would have to wait for our reserved time. Normally this is okay, however we were sent off to wait, literally hovering over our table, looking at our seats, until the rude hostesses said we could sit. Then we were told that the kitchen was backed up so would be longer than usual. One bartender serving an overcrowded restaurant made it impossible for us to even get drinks while waiting. Our server tried to be nice and play it off, but after consistently receiving awful service, especially from the hostesses, i will make efforts to take my (and my friend's) business elsewhere. So many better options"

  • "The food was very good although it was very loud inside and my mother is hard of hearing so it was hard to have a conversation. If it weren't 100 degrees we would have eaten outside. "

  • "Great lunch at St Francis! The rice bowl was terrific and the service was well paced and friendly."

  • "Saw this on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Location is in a no-where part of town, but quaint nonetheless. There is a large garage door that opens to the bar and dining is on the main floor and upstairs. We enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Service was slow (never did receive coffee with dessert), but we really enjoyed conversing with our waiter when he brought the check. Nice young man."

  • "This place is always excellent. The tomato soup is to die for and the chicken salad sandwich is very tasty but the flat breads are our favorite. They are large enough to split even if you are really hungry. Service is wonderful. If you water glass is empty and your waiter isn't close by someone else will notice and fill it up. Same with clearing plates after you're finished! You will love the St Francis and valet parking takes the hassle out of your arrival as well. Have fun and make a reservation so you won't have to wait."

  • "Fabulous menu! Can go back everyday for a week just to try everything I wanted. A real gem!"
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "The food for our brunch was excellent. The ambiance is very good. The people are excellent. Our only concerns were that the jazz group was a little too loud, possibly resulting in order errors that were quickly remedied."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "We ate there after seeing Guy Fieri on tripple D. The place was cool/industrial chic with oitdoor projector showing Charlie Chaplin on the patio. The food was just average. The grilled hearts of romaine was not grilled, stuufed poblano pepper appetizer should have rice instead of qunoa ( grainy and chewy w/o any flavour). The Morrocan meatballs was overwhelmed with sauce but tasty. The pork with chile verde and fried egg was the best dish. The toffee pudding was OK but the coffee was poor. They were kind enough to comp my sons dish after they messed up the allergy modification we asked."

  • "This place was amazing. The food, ambiance, and the service. We loved every minute of our time here. I liked that this restaurant is so hip and cool, and you can bring the kids! The music was killer too. "

  • "Is that an oxymoron? The change of seasonal vegetables in the forbidden rice and other uses of fresh produce energizes the menu at St.Francis. Each time I have visited, it feels fresh and new yet comfortingly familiar and delicious. I love this place."
    Dined on 5/23/2014
  • "This place lived up to all the good reviews that I read. Both food ans atmosphere were excellent. Only complaint was the noise level - a bit loud."
    Dined on 5/23/2014
  • "Both my wife and I tried the flatbreads; mine was cheese and hers was mama's meeza (bacon, sausage and prosciutto). Both were excellent, had enough left over to take home. Unless you are really hungry, one order of flatbread will feed 2 people. If going for lunch and don't want to wait, make a reservation. This place is packed for lunchtime diners."

  • "Went for restaurant week. Server never told us his name or discussed anything on the menu. Drinks took a long time. We received our next course before we were finished with the previous. Food was excellent but was really disappointed with the service and pace of meal. "
