  • "Small child who would scream at times at the table next to us, which was very close, did not add to the experience."

  • "Everything everyone has ever said about it. Unbelievably shrimp cocktail. The best filet I've ever had. Great service. Beautiful atmosphere. Great experience. It was our first visit and won't be the last"

  • "Had one of my better prices of beef in a long time. The shrimp cocktail is to die for. The waitstaff is very attentive, informative friendly and quick. I will definitely recommend this spot to anyone traveling in this area."

  • "My ribeye was very gristly, not marbled. My dates filet had several veins? And tough spots in her cut. I generally love this place.... But tonight it was subpar at best...."

  • "Our dining experience was wonderfully romantic as always! The staff is always awesome! I could not begin to recommend a better restaurant for the money1 the best filet mignon I have ever had! we will be back again next year!"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and most specifically our waiter was outstanding. Wine list was amazing and we will count this as one of our very best dining experiences."

  • "Our food was very good, but our steals were cold. My husband paid extra for a larger steak and it looked like the exact same size as mine. O had cheesecake for dessert and loved it. My husband did not especially love his creme brulee. Our reservation was for 5 and we were immediately seated, in the basement in a far dark room. Neither of us enjoyed that when there were numerous empty tables we walked past. Our waiter was great. We would go back, but would insist on hot steaks...especially for the price"

  • "Excellent food, service and experience. Enjoyed the special for Devour Downtown. Highly recommend St. Elmo's for any occasion."

  • "This is, hand's down, the best Filet Mignon you can find in Indianapolis. I was surprised though at a restaurant of this reputation, that the waiter screwed up three times. He was exceptionally amiable, but at my table of five, he forgot that one of my guests ordered a salad, he brought the wrong side dish to another, and he brought the wrong dessert to another."

  • "We took advantage of the Devour Downtown event to experience St. Elmo's. The food was out of this world! Everything had great flavor and the portions weren't so big as to be unreasonable. The noise level was the only thing that was not top notch. We were in the back room and every table was filled so we were almost shouting to hear one another. The wait staff was very attentive and overall, we had a great experience."

  • "St. Elmo's is my favorite restaurant in IN. I convinced 4 first-timers to join me during Devour Downtown. The ambiance and food were both outstanding, but the service was a disappointment, which was a first for me at St. Elmo's. We arrived at 6:45pm for our 7pm reservation but weren't seated until 7:20pm. That didn't bother me as much as not receiving much attention from our server for about 5-7 minutes after sitting down. Throughout the evening, service continued to be limited and slow from our primary server. Again, this was my first experience with disappointing service and I understand everyone has bad days, but I was bummed this was the first experience at St. Elmo's for my friends and the service did not live up to the hype I gave it!"

  • "Our food was prepared as requested. The taste of our steaks was wonderful. It was a very enjoyable experience. Looking forward to eating there again next year."

  • "We went to St. Elmo's for a special occasion in our family. The anticipation was high and we were not let down. We were first seated in a nice room, but was placed against the back wall. I, personally, do not liked to be crunched up against a wall and have to stare at it. So, I asked that we be moved and the gentleman waiting on us promptly granted our request. After a little "history" lesson regarding St. Elmo's, we were greeted with a very nice variety of breads and our drinks. My wife and her son had the famous shrimp and cocktail sauce...much to their delight! At our table, we had the regular rib-eye, a cowboy rib-eye, and the evening special dry-aged 12oz. NY strip. All three were absolutely amazing and the fresh fries were great!!!"

  • "St Elmo's is a must-see attraction in Indy. It has the history and dining experience that you will absolutely not find anywhere else in the city, and few places in the country. Their steaks are wet aged except for typically one dry-aged option so the filet is the very best option and they do it exceptionally well. You might be able to find a steak of similar quality other places in the city but you cannot beat the experience and the history of this place. It is perfect for a special date-night or business dinner with an amazing wine-list."

  • "Have lived in Indy for years and this was my 1st time here. Delicious!! Food and service (Rico, our Waiter has worked there for 25 years! That says something! We had the Devour Downtown special: Famous Shrimp Cocktail or Salad; filet, chicken, or salmon; creme brule (SP?), cheesecake, or chocolate cake. My friend chose shrimp and I chose salad and we split. Even the salad was phenomenal. Both had the filet that came with green beans and mashed potatoes. My ideal meal :) Dessert, one of us ordered the creme brule and the other chocolate cake. We couldn't finish it all! I will say that I will probably not get the creme brule again though. We both thought it was a little too custardy."

  • "Food and service was impeccable. Only negative was it being so hard to hear eachother during conservation. We were in the basement."
    Dined on 8/26/2014
  • "In today's competitive restaurant market, this place continues to offer excellent food, service and ambience. It is expensive, but we felt we got the quality we paid for. The service was perfect. We were seated in the lower level which was great because the upper level was extremely noisy. I would request the lower level I. Future visits."

  • "We had good food and good service, though it was not very conducive to conversation. The room we were in was quite loud."
    Dined on 8/26/2014
  • "Our food was fantastic. The steak was cooked perfectly and the mashed potatoes are some of the best I've had. Most importantly the service was top notch. I left feeling great about the experience."

  • "Ordered steak medium and they served medium rare..but..most cooks will do that Shrimp cocktail to die for. Excellent service."

  • "Had reservatins and were seated immediatly in this busy place. Service outstanding, wine list is one of the very best in town and Not overpriced. Best Filet M., tasty mashed potatoes and crunchy green beens."

  • "Our first visit here for girls night out and we will definitely be back, the atmosphere and the people was just great. Scott was great from the time we sat down to when we left, the food OMG. Great place and great staff. Thank You!"

  • "We brought some out of town vendors from Boulder, CO to St. Elmo's. They enjoyed the local beers, and thought the food was fantastic."
    Dined on 8/25/2014
  • "Very good but still overpriced. One of the better steaks I've had, but I can pay less than half the price and get one almost as good. Also, the "world famous shrimp cocktail" may be famous but you can't enjoy the flavor because it's so spicy. I like spicy food and think it probably had a really good underlying flavor, but it was basically impossible to tell. If you've got the budget it's worth going here to try the steak and shrimp and to say you've been, but it's not worth going back because it's overpriced."

  • "We go to St. Elmo's about 4 times a year ( 13 years now) for special occasions. The steaks are always perfectly prepared, the service is impeccable and the wedge salad and bread pudding are fantastic. Your water glass never even gets low on ice and an empty plate disappears immediately. The best part of all of that is it all happens without a word or a bother. The whole staff knows what to do and the do it very we'll!! BRAVO!!"

  • "If you want the best steak, go to St. Elmos. The shrimp cocktail is a no brainer as well."
    Dined on 8/24/2014
  • "The steak I got was great. Mashed potatoes were good. The green beans were a little under cooked to be honest. Overall, the food was good, but the atmosphere just didn't do it for me. I figured it would be a little nicer. I guess I have pretty high standards, but we were stuck in a room that literally just had white walls. Nothing else. Also, I found it a little strange that there is no dress code. I guess I was picturing something somewhat similar, but obviously a step down from say the Seelbach in Louisville, Kentucky."

  • "As one of our Pre-game ritual the food was excellent! Be back next home game!"
    Dined on 8/23/2014
  • "The biggest turn off was that the waiter made us feel like it was below him serve us. If I'm going to spend that price for food I do not want to be treated like less of a person while I do it! Furthermore, I asked for a rare steak and got medium rare. I understand that it is a hard steak to cook but isn't that why we are going there, for things to be perfect? Not impressed!!!"
    Dined on 8/23/2014
  • "Steak was cooked to perfection. The creme brûlée was so light and fluffy better than some I've had in France! Delicious!! Recommend highly!"

  • "Went for Devour Downtown and was disappointed. Again. Shrimp cocktail was very good and chocolate cake was also tasty. But... This is allegedly a steakhouse. Filet arrived cold and dry. We had a similar experience there a couple of years ago but decided to give it another shot. Unfortunately we regret it now. Plenty of other steakhouses around that deserve our money. Will not be going back."
