  • "I really enjoyed eating at St Elmo's. Thankful that my son had given me a gift card for Mother's Day, it made this experience a little more affordable. The food was out of this world good, the serving size was enough that it allowed me 3 days of left overs. The waitress was very good and delightful, also very helpful as this was our first time there. The only thing that was ok was that our group went from 2 to 4 and we had to eat in the bar. At around 6:30 quite a few business men came in and were standing in the isle waiting for there tables I guess, which didn't give you a lot of elbow room. When we were finished with dinner, we ordered chocolate cake, which I got free since it was my birthday. Thank you for a good dining experience."

  • "While I travel quite a bit I have come to learn that service rates right up there with food quality. I found both to be very good and would highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "The Prime Rib was absolutely melt in your mouth like butter...Baked potatoe was huge and perfect. and the Navy Bean Soup that they bring out as appetizer was the best ive ever had. Scott, our server, was fantastic. I took my mom there and she had the best time and best meal of her life thanks to Scott. Cant wait to go back to St Elmo's...if you want the BEST Steak you can find anywhere....then this is the place to go. Frank~"

  • "Went for first time for birthday celebration. The steak was perfect! The rest of the food was middle of the road. The service was less than desirable, but ok. It's a nice place for special occasions"

  • "Very reliable steakhouse with massive steaks and a shrimp cocktail that'll blow the top of your head of because of the horseradish. Food is. Dry good and great old decor. One of my favorite places to eat at when I visit downtown Indy"

  • "There are a lot of fantastic restaurants in Indy, but none come close to St Elmo."

  • "The steak is wonderful, best ever, the prices can be a bit pricey, best to go on Sunday's and do the 3 Course Meal special."

  • "The filet on the bone was remarkable! The asparagus was WAY over cooked. The baked potatoe was also WAY over cooked and terribly dry. The wait staff was great."

  • "Heard about St Elmo's watching Colts. Checked it on line. Made the shrimp cocktail recipe which was good but nobody cooks shrimp like St Elmo's. Had to make a point to stop and try it. Great time"

  • "This was our first visit; the service all around was outstanding. The food was unbelievably delicious. I have never had a steak that good...everything was wonderful. The waiter was so understanding and just right in attentiveness. The ambiance and the history of the place was amazing."

  • "The famed shrimp cocktail was delicious and fun. Although, it was merely cocktail sauce with too much horseradish. Luckily, I really enjoy any food with a kick. I ordered salmon. It tasted just like salmon. Perhaps, cooked a bit too long, but appropriately cooked. Nothing done to it to warrant $30. Mashed potatoes were odd. I've had similar quality from a box. Green beans tasted like fresh steamed green beans. Once again, nothing warranting the increased price tag. I am perplexed by anyones jnfatuation with this place. My fork was dirtied with a chocolate sauce upon seating. The restaurant smelled like a buddies grandparent's home. Foreign, musy, and old. I will never go back."

  • "St Elmo's is the restaurant to go for an elegant atmosphere and top of the line food. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, the sides were delicious, and our waiter was very attentive. Thank you for an evening to remember!!!!"

  • "The meat was some of the best I ever had, highly recommended if you appreciate good steaks like I do. Shrimp cocktail has to be tried, it is a bit weird but hey. All in all a very enjoyable visit."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed the food and the service was very good. However if you like quiet dining this is not the place. There were little kids near our table that were running around yelling and hiding under their table. Parents and staff didn't seem to care they were bothering other customers. If I am paying $150 for a meal I expect it to be more peaceful than a McDonald's Play place!"

  • "St Elmo's is an awesome place to dine..it can be pricy depending on what you order, .but worth every penny. My wife and I always go when we're in Indy ,and are never dissapointed. We went on July 3 2014 and look forward to going again. They make the best steak ive ever ate and their World Famous Shrimp cocktail is awesome. Plus it used to be a speak easy during prohibition , so that makes it extra cool..Great Restaurant."

  • "While traveling to Indy for work my flight was delayed getting in and missed my reservation. Called the restaurant from the taxi and they worked my party in even though there were no reservations available at the time we arrived. Overall everyone enjoyed their meals. The best part was the Lobster soup and of course the Shrimp Cocktail. You could serve anything with that sauce and it would taste good. Great service, good food and plenty of drink. Overall outstanding night."

  • "If you happen to visit Indianapolis, do not miss an opportunity to dine at St. Elmo's. It is such an experience and the food is spectacular. You cannot miss a chance to dine here because it will be worth the trip to Indy itself. Steve, our server for that night, was awesome and engaging. Very knowledgeable and even gave us a great history lesson of not only the restaurant, but the area itself. This was such a great experience, thank you Steve and thank you St. Elmo's."

  • "We were pretty excited to finally try st Elmo's after all the talk we've heard and all the recommendations. I would have to say that I was highly disappointed. The best thing I are was the bread. Shrimp cocktail was okay would be nice to offer a less firey sauce. The chicken I ordered was a bit tough and free beans tasted like they were washed in dish water. I the setting was nice and liked the layout. Would return to the bar but wouldn't waste my money on the food. The homeless man sitting outside enjoyed all out leftovers."

  • "It was my first time to visit Indianapolis and my brother recommended St. Elmo's for business dinner. Excellent recommendation! While I have an occasional allergy to shrimp, I figured I had to try their specialty shrimp cocktail and had no regrets. Everything we ordered as well as the service was outstanding!! Definitely will recommend St. Elmo's when visiting Indianapolis . . . <3!"

  • "As a first timer at St. Elmos we were impressed by the moment we walked in , very friendly service and our waiter was wonderful and a joy to be around. The food was one of the best meals that we have ever tasted, and we have been all around the world dining at restaurants. The ambience was not the usual high class dining boring atmosphere. My advice is do not even waste your time at any other restaurant, go directly to St. Elmos!"

  • "Went here with my wife for our anniversary. We made a reservation and were quickly seated when we showed up. Service was prompt and attentive the entire evening. The food that my wife and I ordered (steak and a surf & turf) were appropriately seasoned and cooked to order. Additionally, the wine list is extensive. We found a great choice, but be ready to take a minute just to examine the possibilities on the list. Our only minor complaint was the seating. Being in the "wine cellar" for a couple hours did detract a bit, but that was a minor issue. We will definitely return again in the future."

  • "Our Glendale, Ohio Corvette Cruisers group of 10 all raved about the steaks. They were cooked exactly as specified in the "doneness" chart and had that wonderful "char" flavor on the outside, while moist and tender inside. We were there over an hour and a half, but it seemed to flow faster with the courses of bread, appetizers, soup and entree. The only problem we had was being too full to take advantage of the dessert menu!"

  • "Made a reservation, we were seated right next to the linen/silverware shelf so the staff was constantly right by us getting supplies. The shrimp cocktail was good but not sinus emptying like I prefer. My wife ordered the prime rib not noticing it is 32oz. I had the cowboy ribeye. We are meat eaters but it was almost embarrassing to see the quantity of meat that they delivered, one entree would have been plenty for both of us. The prime rib was grilled rather than roasted so it tasted like as enormous steak rather than the anticipated roasted flavor. We expected. My cowboy ribeye was ok, it was too thin to allow a proper medium rare preparation. Overall it was a $160 evening for two that I could have prepared better at home for $30.00."

  • "There's no question St. Elmo's has great steaks! There's nothing too fancy or over the top just a nice steak and nice sides to compliment. Steaks were perfectly cooked."
