  • "Being new to the Indy area we had no idea what a wonderful experience we were about to have. I will return for sure!"

  • "My wife and I dined with another couple while visiting in Indy. Wonderful steaks, great service, ambience of a bustling old time fancy restaurant. Great place to splurge on a meal and a dining experience!"

  • "What a great place to celebrate our 21st anniversary. The shrimp cocktail was tremendous as always. My wife does not like the spicy cocktail sauce so they gave her some on the side that was toned down to just the right amount of heat. Our steaks were perfectly done. She had the bone-in filet and I had the bone-in ribeye. Both were incredibly tasty. We followed this with the chocolate cake that was very good. A wonderful evening for a special occasion."

  • "This is now an annual event for my kids and I for our back to school activity. They love the atmosphere, shrimp cocktail and especially the steak! Thanks for being a part of our routine!"

  • "The food and service were excellent as always. St. Elmo's is the best in fine dining. I have been to many restaurants around the globe and St.Elmo's is second to none."

  • "I made reservations for our anniversary, notified St Elmo. They put a nice note on our table, however; placed us in a corner with little to no room. Our waiter Juan did a mediocre job was not very attentive. There was a party of 6-8 directly next to us so the noise level was loud, there was also a disabled individual at the table that kept raising her wheel chair I felt like she was in bed next to us as she was elevated so high and completely lying down. I certainly understand disabilities as my husband is missing a leg, it would be as if he took his leg off in the middle of dining and placed it next to the table. For two the price was about $200, we dine out so the price would have been ok of all was good."

  • "Didn't care to be seated in the basement when we had a 5:45 reservation and the restraurant wasnt 1/2 full They did move us to an upper level. The Steak was very good, my wife said her bonbe-in-filet may be the best steak she has has ever eaten. My bread plate was wet with water from teh dishwasher- a huge turn off at these prices. The baked potato was cool due to the amount of butter and sour cream added."

  • "Would not recommend this place Food was fair only. Steak was tough, shrimp was very average and overrated. Service was poor. Waitress was snippy, haughty and of no help. This place is overrated. Will not go back"

  • "If you are looking for the best steak in town then you must make a reservation here. I have been going to the restaurant for over ten years when I am in town and it has been excellent every time. If you have never eaten here it is a must."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "Had a fantastic meal and one of the best wait staffers ever! Prime rib was too big to eat! My friend had a New York Strip that was also delectable. Couldn't even consider dessert when we were finishing. Newly remodeled upstairs bar looks like a happening place, too!"

  • "Quality and friendly service from all those who work at St. Elmo. It is hard to attain elegance and a low key friendly environment but some how St. Elmo manages to pull it off every time we have dined there."

  • "Third time at St. Elmo. Food always top-notch. Service terrific. Love this place. Only complaint: In a restaurant where the wait staff all dress in tuxedos I would expect the clientele to dress accordingly. We sat next to a "Larry the Cable-guy" wanna-be. Lowers the ambiance grade significantly. Suggest you change the dress code from casual to business casual."

  • "I have been here before but did not meet previous expectations. I ordered the fish of the day which was halibut. It was a nice thick fillet but there was no flavor or seasoning added. If you go order steaks and get the shrimp cocktail with their famous horseradish sauce. Definitely avoid the fish dishes!!"

  • "Was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my recent visit. Had out of town guests and they wanted to eat at St Elmo's. I had not been there in about five years - preferring other local steak restaurants. Could not have enjoyed myself more. Everything was great - from valet parking, to greeting and seating, to table service and the meal. Will go back soon."

  • "It was my first time at St. Elmo's. I had heard nothing but positive things before I went. I was excited to go! Everything was fine, but wish I would have ordered something different. Being Indy's best steakhouse, I know I should have gotten a steak. But I was in the mood for seafood and ordered the tuna. It was ok, but I expected much better. I'll go again and definitely order a steak and anticipate my review to be much, much higher. Lesson learned."

  • "This was a special occasion as we were celebrating our 1st anniversary! The service was great from the time we walked into the door until the time we left. Food was absolutely wonderful and we loved our free dessert at the end! Thank you to all who made our evening special."

  • "This was my fourth visit to St. Elmo and let's just say that I'll ALWAYS find a way to get there when in Indianapolis. This is simply a classic steakhouse and a "must visit" restaurant in this city. The steaks are always cooked to perfection. And, what can be said about the shrimp cocktail that hasn't been written before--it's a religious, and sinus-altering, experience. The wine list is spectacular."

  • "Famous for their shrimp cocktail but their lobster bisque was outstanding. Steaks were delicious and the service was spot on. Definitely recommend."

  • "My wife and I decided to eat at St. Elmo's to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It was a bit of a splurge, but well worth it. Jason, our waiter, made us feel very comfortable and welcome. He explained the menu completely and made sure we had a great experience. The steaks were exceptional. I ordered the 14 ounce ribeye, while my wife had the 8 ounce filet. (I cannot imagine people eating the larger cuts. We took home half of our steaks as it was.) For sides, I had the red-skin mashed potatoes and my wife had the green beans. We shared these with each other and found them both delicious. We then opted for the bread pudding for dessert, which was also delicious, sweet, and rich, served with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce."

  • "The Sunday dinner special at St. Elmo's is a wonderful experience. The quality of the food for $40 per person is outstanding. You must start with the 3 shrimp version of their famous strong horseradish sauced shrimp cocktail, just remember to breathe through your mouth. The filet is cooked to perfection, accompanied well with the seasoned mashed potatoes and green beans. The special even includes three choices for dessert: chocolate cake, cheesecake or creme brulee. We celebrated a family birthday with our Sunday dinner and I highly recommend it. The ambience leaves something to be desired, as the tables are small and the dining area is a little crowded, but you will find no fault with the food or the service."

  • "We visited on Saturday 19th July, and were a little disappointed. Our table assignment (basement, as far back as you can go) wasn't a good start, but the service was friendly and attentive despite our location. However, the speed of delivery was a little to "fast food" for our liking, with very little time to relax between courses. It was almost as though the kitchen staff had somewhere else they needed to be. The food was fine, other than the green beans (way over-boiled), but not sufficiently good enough for the price. Disappointed."

  • "Seating was way to close we felt like we was sitting with the couple beside us we could hear everything they was talking about.. It took around 45 minutes to receive our food once we received it the steaks was under cooked I had to trade my husband steaks cause he could not eat it that under cooked when our server finally came back my husband had already cut the steak up so we did not want to wait another 45 minutes! The couple beside us had the same problem they sent their steak back to only get the same steak they cut and handle meaning they put their steak back on a grill that other guest steak was being prepared not sanitary at all! Don't think we will be returning..."

  • "went here for anniversary dinner. all I can say was that the highlight of the entire meal was the spicy shrimp cocktail. it was fantastic. i ordered filet mignon and my wife had pork chops. both were good, but very much overpriced. i can think of at least 2 other steakhouses in indy that i would choose over st. elmos. glad i tried it, but will probably not return unless for a a beer and a shrimp cocktail in the bar before or after a sporting event."

  • "We celebrated our 17th anniversary. It was great service and the food was wonderful. The steaks were so tender. Would go back again. The shrimp cocktail is the best ever!"

  • "Went to dinner July 18. Rushed through meal. No time to even talk before meals brought to table. Waiting to pick up plate before my silverware even hit the plate. For 125$ Plus tip, would think they would give you more."

  • "St. Elmo's is known as a Class Act, and it proves it on every level. From the reservations, to the staff, to the food, to the atmosphere, St. Elmo's is the gold standard for any nationally known steakhouse."

  • "St Elmo is perfect for those special occasions that deserve something extra. It is well known for it's steaks and shrimp cocktail. Recommend the Sunday afternoon special pricing which is a bargain for an elegant establishment such as St Elmo. Food, service and atmosphere will not disappoint."

  • "Amazing food! Classic vintage steakhouse atmosphere."

  • "St. Elmo's is a fantastic steak house deserving of its' high marks. The famous shrimp cocktail is indeed to-die-for and a must have appetizer. I've dined here a few times while in town on business and made a point of dining on my most recent trip. Even though I dined alone, I was provided excellent service from the reservations stand to the bar to the dining room. I even met a young lady on my flight home who works at the restaurant...she remembered me from earlier in the week. Overall, an excellent meal!"

  • "We took out of town friends to experience St. Elmo's. The evening was great and our server (Derek) was outstanding. Everyone said the food was "some of the best" and certainly the steak was superb! Our out of town friends said they would definitely be back!"

  • "We chose St. Elmo's as our fancy dinner out while traveling out of town. We really enjoyed our evening. Cocktails, wine and atmosphere were perfect. Food was good, but nothing better than our steakhouses at home. While the famous shrimp cocktail was good, I think the fame comes from the horseradish in the cocktail sauce. It was yummy but not unique."
