We selected this location due to it's proximity and menu as well as availability, I am happy to say we were not disappointed! The food was superb, the service was great and the price was outstanding. I hope it stays a best kept secret as I want it to be available next time I am in New York and want a great meal out before a show!

We were initially hesitant due to a few bad reviews on service, but there were enough good reviews to decide to go. Our service was excellent. We were on the 2nd floor at the window which I liked. The menu is pure Scottish. The food was pretty good and they had a pre-fixed menu, one with unlimited wine & beer, another without, which was a terrific deal. Although the chicken soup was a little bland but everything else was really good. Our steaks were cooked as ordered, our creamed spinach was delicious. My husband mentioned for me to choose the dessert since it was my birthday, and without being asked, they came with a candle singing happy birthday. The chocolate bundt cake dessert was absolutely scrumptious. I would go back again.

The food was quite good, but the portion of grilled striped bass I was served (as a main course) was very small. Very tasty, but hardly a reasonable dinner portion. My companions' portions were larger and they had no complaints. I guess I ordered the wrong item The only other sour note was that my wife was charged for soup even though that was included in the price fixed dinner she chose. The waiter corrected the "mistake" quickly, but it left me wondering.

I selected this restaurant because of the whisky list. I wasn't disappointed by the selection even though a few choices weren't available. The food was fine but nothing about which to write home. While the waitresses were very accommodating, the kitchen did not send the proper side orders. All in all there are better whisky bars and much better food places, but if you want theater district and great whisky, this restaurant is high on the list.

Pre-theatre, east of Broadway, is not always easy and is somehow always expensive. St. Andrews wasn't inexpensive, but it was a good value for the food provided: tasty and plentiful. Our appetizer was a little late to arrive due to a large party in the next room, and the server and host both came over to assure us it was on our way and that we'd be out in plenty of time for our 7:30 curtain. Impressed!

My girlfriend and I chose this restaurant given it's proximity to a theatre and open table reviews. We both ordered the filet mignon. The beef, while cooked perfectly to order, was flavorless. The red wine reduction sauce was equally as bland. The blue cheese butter was tasty though overpowering given the lack of flavors in the beef and sauce. The potato cake was good. Service was very good; we were one of a few tables occupied given the early dining time of 5:30.

I am in the service industry, and never in my life, while dining all over the world in many many restaurants, had the worst service ever. It was the first time we left before desert and coffee and did not leave a tip. I have no more words to say, but simply the worst restaurant experience I've ever had in so many ways, just stormed out leaving cash with exact change, hopefully the staff will receive better training in customers service. I'm embarrassed to not have left any gratuity, but the server certainly needed to be taught a lesson, as does the restaurant! Needless to say, we will never be going there again, and continue to post about our horrible experience!

We have eaten at St. Andrews many times over the past few years. This visit was the worst. The service was poor. Our steaks were not served correctly, the ribeye was given to the wrong person and the rare strip steak was served to the person who ordered it medium. When the bus boy cleared the table, he took the steak knives that had been placed for those who ordered steak and the forks. When new silverware was requested, it took so long our food got cold plus the side dishes of creamed spinach and the mushrooms did not come until we asked to speak with the manager. Fortunately, once the manager came, the service greatly improved but the evening was still ruined.

My husband found this great restaurant while looking at reviews for restaurants in the Theater District of NYC. He liked the online menu so he took me on my birthday. What a great restaurant... and the food was to die for! The wine selection was extensive, and the single malt scotch selection would have any connoisseur smiling. The wait staff was knowledgeable about both the menu and drink listings. They were also very friendly. Prices were reasonable for NYC. We will definitely be back to visit this lovely spot.

My wife's Trout stuffed with Crab was amazingly delicious and Boneless! My Haggis dish was attractive (served as 3 layers) but there was too little Haggis & Neeps and too much Tatties (I'm not big on mashed potatoes). My daughter's Horseradish encrusted Salmon was delicious & well prepared, but she could Not taste any horseradish (which she loves). The Apple Crisp was delicious & the Cinnamon Ice Cream on top was even better. The Cranachan was just right (light and not too sweet). The Very Best, though, was the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Fantastic! The Whiskey Menu is also amazing.

This is a lovely, comfortable, not too loud restaurant, right off Times Square. The service was excellent and perfectly paced for a pre-theater dinner. The food was very good. We tried the haggis, which was surprisingly tasty, and the fried oyster appetizer, which was excellent. The portions were large and we all had the prix-fixe theater dinner which tasted good and was a good value for the price. There is an extensive beer list and the Scotch based cocktails were delicious and good for Scotch novices. In an area where restaurants can be cramped and overly loud, not to mention overly priced, this is a great place.

I made reservation after seeing the extensive Scotch list and menu. How is it that our waitress has worked there for over a year and knows nothing about the Scotch? I am not sure she can spell the word. Then, while finding help to get information completely forgets the wine for my wife. the food was terrific and the service could have been more coordinated so that 3 people would know what had been asked and done and what had been forgotten. I emailed the restaurant weeks in advance to let them know it was our anniversary and they emailed that they would write Happy Anniversary on the dessert plates...guess what? Not a mention during the entire dinner, nothing on the plate. So disappointed!

Loved the relaxed, club feel with a different plaid on each chair, white table cloths and kilts on friendly waitresses-well trained staff-large, open window panels on a perfect evening. Husband said Scottish Ale best he's ever had. Hagis and Salmon presentations were both colorful and delicious though ask them to make salmon on the rare side-it was a bit dry. Both had tasty sauces. Mahi mahi was great. Two prix fixe options and grilled plus 2 sides and a sauce in addition to a la carte. Fun dinner experience and lovely reminder of our visit to Scotland. The atmosphere is fun and laid back. We ordered off the Pre-theater menu. The food was good. Both steaks came out cooked to the proper temps. My salmon was a little dry and over cooked, but tasted fine, and the artichoke raviolis on the plate were very good. The Scotch list amazing and the bar tender left his post to come up and make recommendations, which were spot on. He was very friendly and knowledgable! Service was a little slow, but very friendly. I suggest giving extra time before a show so you don't feel rushed.

They've successfully shifted from a true Scottish Pub comfortable experience, to the Times Square tourist and after work corporate place. There are times when they're less busy and it still has its old charm.....but it's just not what it used to be. However, the food is quite good, and there are still some exceptional servers to be experienced. Also, if you want Scottish fare, or modern fine dining cuisine in such a setting, the cloth and crystal approach in their upstairs dining area will probably be right up your alley.
