St. AndrewsHidden gem in the theatre district!46th street just west of 6th avenue seems to be a street most people do not frequent - they are further west heading down Restaurant Row. However, St. Andrews, a Scottish Bar and restaurant, is not to be missed. The ambiance is lovely, the service attentive, and the food well prepared. The menu is varied, but fish and seafood are highly recommended, and you can have your fish served any way you like. If you prefer less formal "pub grub" ask for the pub menu, which has fish and chips, and burgers. Have been there on several occasions and never disapppointed. You can make a reservation but you don't usually need one.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre theatre restaurant.Great pre theatre restaurant. Service was fast and efficient. Food was good and good value. We had the prixe fix dinner.Nice selections.I had the salmon. It was tasty and flavorful! My husband had the steak au poive. The steak was excellent. Sauce was just ok. Would definily go back.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe fish is very good - andThe fish is very good - and they give a selection of sauces which are excellent. The upstairs dining area is deceivingly large, so our party of 8 was easily accommodated.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat hamburgersSt. Andrew has a wonderful bar, good hamburgers and both allows you to sit and talk with a friend and can get you out in time for a show. Have always liked this place.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMTheaterHad dinner before 8pm theatre performance. Great Price Fix menu. No trouble finishing dinner in timely manner. Food was good as usual. This is my 4th time eating here. Ask to eat upstairs. Bar on both levels if interested but more crowded downstairs. Upstairs window looks out onto street level.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMScottish DelightOf course my salmon was fabulous. This fun restaurant is in the theater district and an excellent place to begin an evening of entertainment. The prix fixe is worth every penny! We love eating upstairs. There are tables overlooking the street, nice large windows look out, offering natural light in a city where many dining establishments rely on candles and overhead chandeliers even during the daytime.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were staying in Mid-TownWe were staying in Mid-Town and were referred to St. Andrews by a friend of a friend. Not knowing what to expect we nonetheless made a reservation...what's the worst that could happen? We were pleasantly surprised. It was a Friday evening, a vibrant bar crowd, and were seated immediately by a friendly hostess. Our server was pleasant, thoughtful and attentive. A wide variety of food and drink to choose from including a pub menu. Save room for dessert. We enjoyed ourselves so much we returned the following evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great time! Our serverWhat a great time! Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, the food was perfectly prepared (we had two cuts of steak)and the flavors were well balanced. We were sat upstairs in the front of the restaurant by the window. There was a larger group 9 or so, in the room with us which had this been a romantic type occasion could have been a distraction but the room was large enough to carry it off. There is a lot of seating throughout the restaurant, so don't be afraid to make this a meet up spot for friends in the city. Just be aware, if you make this a meet for one and split locale you may never want to leave. St. Andrew's is on our NYC short list for "go to" spots in the city. Make it a point to go, and use OpenTable to book it!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough I live in CT, I amAlthough I live in CT, I am a frequent diner at St. Andrews for pre-theatre dinners with my colleagues in NYC but this time I brought my husband and friends (2 from PA and 2 from Westchester) - all 5 said they enjoyed their meals, the price was right and the service was terrific. St. Andrews did not disappoint. Even my request for the round table upstairs was fulfilled. We'll be back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMHaving eaten here many timesHaving eaten here many times with only positive reviews and recommended St. Andrews to friends who thanked me later, I have nothing else to add. Only that this time I had the wild sea bass which was delicious.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMTrue Scottish Pub ExperienceSt Andrews provided the exact ambiance we were looking for; traditional Scottish Pub look. Wonderful to dine off a table cloth again!! Food was upscale and contemporary but traditional as well. Quality of the food was excellent! Loved every minute of my dining experience and hope to be able to go again!!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI've tried Bucca at home,I've tried Bucca at home, and now on our vacations to NYC. It is really nice. Be aware that portions are huge. We were 5 adults, 2 middle school age boys and a younger girl. Ordered 1 appetizer, 1 salad, 2 pastas, the girl ordered her own food from kids menu... (all small) and it was plenty...4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe servers were FUN and niceThe servers were FUN and nice to talk with. The FOOD was simply put - DELICIOUS! The sheppards pie and scottish salmon were yummy and the scottish cookies/ice cream were just enough for a sweet end to a great meal!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI've been to St. Andrews beforeI've been to St. Andrews before and always have a good meal. The prix fixe menu is a great choice. The salad was large and had a very tasty dressing. The salmon was excellent, with a nice crust. The chicken and steak were really good too. And how can you go wrong with creme brulee?3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMbest scallops we ever hadbest scallops we ever had and the waitress from Dublin was great3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAn outstanding scotch list! TheAn outstanding scotch list!
The food was very good. I enjoyed the haggis and my father loved the ribs. I also had the grilled salmon. I liked how they had a good selection of grilled fish with different side vegetables and sauces.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our third or fourthThis was our third or fourth time dining at St. Andrews, and we were as pleased as ever. We both chose from the prix-fixe menu, salmon for me and steak (surcharge) for my husband. The entrees and accompanying sides were delicious, as were the Caesar salads we both chose. Desserts were yummy...ice cream and sorbet, helping us to stay within our diets somewhat (portions were very generous). Service was truly outstanding, especially the busboy. Keep it up and we'll be back again and again!12/16/2012 12:00:00 AMSteak night in NYCUnbelievable, highly recommend. Great staff. So, busy but very friendly. Well done!
