The Squeaky BeanOutstanding Start to Brunch ServiceOn the brunchiest of dining days, Mothers Day, and in the few weeks since midday service began, The Bean nailed it. Custard soaked french toast was the apex of entrees. Textured perfectly with a griddled char and flavored with an exact amount of sweetness. The scramble on ciabatta with ricotta was very interesting and the bennies were good but needed a bit of refinement to make them fit into a their unique menu. Offered a selected list of cheeses (CO goat & FRA cow) which were creamy and fatty to combine nicely with duck mortadella and the Iowa prosciutto. The cocktails were light, spritzy and fresh, well timed for the transition into spring fare. Janna was a delightful server who spoke energetically about their new menu. Well, well done.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe squeaky bean gets no greaseThe food is crisp, eclectic, creative, fresh and never never greasy. The chef's quirks are entertaining, e.g., plating the food off-center in the dish, pouring sauces at the table, etc.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMUM UM GOODTHE FOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT!! MIGHT BE MY NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT!!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMInnovative preparationFood at SB is perhaps the most innovative in Denver which is steadily (but still under the radar) becoming a Foodie destination. Our server, Allyson, was excellent and knowledgeable about all aspects of the cuisine. My wife and I had mixed reaction to the ambiance and noise level. She felt it was typical of Colorado and especially the "energetic" location of LoDo. I felt the cuisine called for a bit more urban casual, quiet setting.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOne word.. amazingEverything that I ate at The Squeaky Bean was excellent. The server was very knowledgeable and provided us with wonderful recommendations. I made a reservation for Sunday night and it was relatively quiet, I'm sure this is not the case on Friday and Saturday nights. I will definitely be back!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMore than I expected.......Birthday dinner celebration. great table for closeness. good view of the street and the restaurant as well. waiter very friendly and offered excellent choices both of food and wine list. champagne on the house after we ordered, for the birthday. chips and dip were amazing. amazing. beets unbelievable and i dont really care for beets. The congee was the best dish of the night, well almost. we had the lamb and the quinoa with bison steak (sharing everything) and we thought the meal just about over the top, until the dessert. strawberry shortcake was something on its own, but got quite outshown by the mudpie with the toffee noodles. Flavor combinations, presentation were both special. The service very attentive-we prob had 7 sets of silverware!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific restaurant. VeryTerrific restaurant. Very creative dishes. A can't miss.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMYum!The menu is eclectic, but don't be scared. Even strange sounding combinations are fantastic, and not just for the adventurous eater. Wonderful service, amazing cocktails (with hand-cut ice!) and great wines by the glass that are well suited to the menu and affordable at that!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMService was amazing, the foodService was amazing, the food was indescribably good. Really a special treat all around.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique, excellent food, good valueI really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The menu is quite unique. Everything we had was well-prepared with great presentation. Let's just say we weren't talking a whole lot during our meal because we were both focused on savoring our meals. The location is a little out of the way for LoDo (at least for me), but worth the effort to get there. While the fare is a little on the pricey side I found it to be really worth it and a great value. Exceptional quality food & service for a reasonable price. We'll be back.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Squeaky Bean is a greatThe Squeaky Bean is a great place to try new dishes that you probably won't be making at home!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location, great food,Great location, great food, with ambiance and flare. A foodies haven.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an exceptional experienceWe had an exceptional experience at the Squeaky Bean and would consider it in the highest echelon of Denver restaurants. The staff was attentive, courteous, and unusually knowledgable about the ingredients and techniques used in the dishes. The food was uniformly outstanding - robust, flavorful, and inventive (and, for that matter, the presentation was immaculate). The Squeaky Bean exudes confidence in its food and presentation and justified that confidence with impressive execution. We're cynical diners who have made the circuit in the Denver/Boulder restaurant scene - and will definitely be returning to The Squeaky Bean with high expectations.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AM54th Birthday CelebrationI held my 54th birthday celebration at "The Squeaky Bean" and we all had a truly memorable experience! We chose from each category plus a drink concoction with hand cut ice. Highlight was the rich flavor sensation of brussels sprouts with runny egg to mix in. Garrett our server, was informative & fun as well as graceful throughout our 7-course tasting menu! Our sincere compliments to the entire culinary team...the food was absolutely delicious!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMIt is not often that my husbandIt is not often that my husband and I are impressed with dining in Denver but the Squeaky Bean knocked it out of the park when we visited on Friday night. Service was top notch. So many times when we are dining the waitstaff will clear plates before one of us is finished, not here. Food was paced just right between courses, the presentation was excellent and so tasty! This will be a restaurant that we will return to with friends and clients.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery morsel was a delight,Every morsel was a delight, I have never, ever had a bad meal or experience here! Highly, highly recommend the "Bean."4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWithout a doubt, one of theWithout a doubt, one of the best meals I've had in Denver. The tater tots appetizer, the pork loin entree, and the chocolate dessert were all memorable. I forget the exact name but the thyme cocktail was refreshing and delightful. Everything is on the "pricey" side which is the only reason I can't make return visits as often as I would like. And I have to compliment the restaurant for having a hostess/greeter who was down-to-earth, thoughtful, and dressed appropriately. I think you'll know what I mean.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBrody is wonderful, we hadBrody is wonderful, we had such a great night. Squeaky Bean - you have just arrived at the top of my Denver restaurant list! Spectacular.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was absolutely amazingThe food was absolutely amazing though the portions were really small. I was out with a group of girls and we all commented that it was a good thing our husbands were not there or they would have left hungry. The atmosphere and vibe of the place were really great. The flavors of the food was outstanding. We will definitely go again.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything from our drinksEverything from our drinks at the bar to our dinner was fabulous. Seemed a bit pricey when selections were made.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodies Only! Very good foodFoodies Only!
Very good food and great service. Menu is limited and food is very creative. That said, this is a "foodies only" kind of place. Don't bring children. If you're not sure if you'd like the menu, check it out online or enjoy one of their amazing cocktail at the bar and check out the scene.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's THAT good!Loved everything about our dinner last night at The Squeaky Bean. This was my 2nd time there, and my friend and I shared everything we ordered. Our waitress Michelle was THE BEST!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMMy group and I had a wonderfulMy group and I had a wonderful time. The food was great and the service was superb. If I had to make one criticism, it would be that the portion sizes were extremely small, given the prices.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFor a restaurant that servesFor a restaurant that serves good food at fair prices their wine selection is VERY pricy. There is only a handful of wines for under $50.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous again! The beetsFabulous again! The beets with yogurt dressing was genius!
We loved it in the tiny space and love it just as much in the new big venue...3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, fresh and trulyExcellent, fresh and truly unique food. The small plates are perfect for sampling the intriguing mastery that flows nonstop from the kitchen. The staff went above and beyond to make sure every need was anticipated and fulfilled. Each dish is an explosion of flavor and a myriad of textures. If you haven't tried this downtown gem you are missing an amazing culinary experience. Best birthday dinner ever!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMVery eclectic spot. The foodVery eclectic spot. The food is great, but you may need a dictionary to figure out what alot of it is! Actually, your waiter will explain it very well. Good bar scene and eating at the bar is fun.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinetely coming backWe will definitely be returning to the Squeaky Bean, and with friends. In the heart of Denver's Lodo, this old grain building now houses a beautiful, comfortable, hip and fun restaurant. The exposed brick interior is accented with elements pulled together from found objects such as a chandelier crafted from old silver spoons, and old bingo sign, and the menus are clipped onto the owner's own collection of cookbooks, wrapped in a midwest modern print napkin. The bar is beautiful, the service was well timed and friendly.
We were blown away by a root vegetable salad with a green garlic creme as the foundation, and every piece of vegetable or leaf placed with tweezers. The lamb was out of this world--we recommend it!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMCarnivores Delight! We had a wonderful dinner at The Squeaky Bean on a really snowy Friday night. Our table was ready when we arrived and we had great service as soon as we walked in. We shared the warm olives, which were delicious. My husband had the quail special, and he loved every bite. The portion was very generous, more than expected for a small plate. He also had the rabbit special and I had the vegetarian entree option. All of our food was excellent. We shared the fluffer nutter desert, which was divine! My only complaint about the restaurant would be that they are lacking in vegetarian options. It is a great place for the meat eaters, with specialty foods and excellent preparation. Overall, we had a great experience and would go back3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and drink!
