Square 1682 presents a Modern American Kitchen menu thoughtfully and masterfully created by Executive Chef Caitlin Mateo. The menu features small & large plates, as well as dishes designed for sharing during dinner. With emphasis on local and organic products, Chef Mateo entices the taste buds with every bite, through her lens of culinary America.

The bar showcases a pure wellness program of all natural ingredients, where fresh fruit and juices, infused spirits, and housemade flavored simple syrups are created daily from our Lead Bartender Chauncey Scates. Square 1682 invites guests to a full experience of dining, libations, and lively ambiance on every visit.

  • "We came in for lunch and were warmly welcomed by the hostess. Our party expanded by 1 and we were accommodated without the bat of an eyelash. The service was really top notch--friendly but not overbearing, prompt and attentive. The carrot soup special was a special treat, especially with the bacon!"

  • "I had the Crabby Benedict. It was the first time I ever had eggs Benedict and it was great. My sister ordered the chicken salad sandwich also bursting with flavorful greatness. I know because I managed to grab a few bits before she consumed it all. No complaint about the service either. Everyone was friendly and our food was brought out in a timely fashion. The only thing I wish is that I had the opportunity to try the french toast and gelato. I was so envious when I saw a plate with two thick slices of french toast accompanied by the creamy, perfectly scooped gelato being delivered to the table next to us. I guess that gives me a reason to come back."

  • "We ate dinner here on a Saturday night; there seemed to be few diners but a lively bar scene. The food was excellent, and the vegetarian in the group particularly appreciated the choice of vegetarian dishes. The thud-thud-thud of the bass of the soundtrack made the place noisy for dining (but probably lively for drinks). We won't be back, because the ambiance isn't what we wanted for dinner. A pity, because the food was so delicious and beautifully presented."

  • "Unquestionably a very tasty meal from start to finish; the meals all tasted extremely fresh; the vegetables cooked just right; one of the few places that knows how to cook salmon perfectly so it retains total moisture; service was attentive and friendly; the one negative is that the place has a big bar with a big screen and I think that during certain sports events the dining experience could be overwhelmed by the sports bar scene. But I am sure that food will still be just as tasty."

  • "Three of us went for brunch on a quiet Saturday. I had a frittata with short ribs, peppers and mushrooms; my friends both had the Crabby Arnold (eggs benedict with crab cakes instead of Canadian bacon.) All were served with breakfast potatoes. The food was tasty, the servers were attentive. All in all a nice experience."

  • "The wait staff at Square 1682 are freindly and attentive without being intrusive. I had the bacon wrapped dates as an appitizer. It was decadently rich. A perfect marriage of sweet, savory, and a little heat from spice. For my meal, I had the lamb shanks with a side order of roasted corn. The lamb shanks come with a hash of summer vegtibles and and creamy bulgar wheat. Since a major component of the hash was roasted corn, I should have skipped the side order. My desert order was their cheese cake. It was good, but would have benefited from a little more lemony tang. Overall, the meal was an excelent end to the day."

  • "I scheduled a last minute brunch with family, first time at Square 1682. The food was great, fresh fruit juices were delightful. They were accommodating to my 3 year old as well as the other adults at the table. It was a little loud for conversation at brunch but otherwise was a great brunch location that I hope to return to."

  • "Like the room space and the high chairs and tables, and staff were both attentive and helpful re recommendations. Food was good - the bacon wrapped dates were delicious, and my husband enjoyed his burger. My shrimp special was just ok. Not much ambiance but it was a Saturday night during the month of August when people were obviously at the beach. Expect that will change once September rolls around."

  • "Our server was very helpful and friendly. For a light dinner for 2, we ordered 3 small plate items (salad, skewered shrimp, hummus platter) and parmesan fries. We loved almost everything. The fries might well be the best I've ever tasted -- and up to this point, my favorites were in Europe. The salad was perfect, and we enjoyed the cheese base on the salad plate. The shrimp was very nice. The hummus -- we wish we hadn't ordered because we didn't care for the flavors of the hummus or the toasts. Still, it was a lovely meal. Thank you! The atmosphere was nice -- not stuffy but refined. It was a very nice evening, and we hope to visit again soon to try breakfast or lunch."

  • "A friend and I decided to try Square 1682 for a much needed get together in order to catch-up. It was the perfect spot. Having had our reservation on a lovely late Summer day, we sat outside and were not at all distracted by the hustle and bustle of Rittenhouse or overly stalked by the wait staff. It seemed as though we were always getting great service and had delicous food on our table. I would definintely try Square 1682 again to experience inside dining."

  • "I liked the menu / space / service much more pre-renovations. Our server was extremely personable and nice when he came to the table, but it was a bit of a wait in between his visits to the table. There is no need to go out and socialize with your friends outside the restaurant before putting in our drink order. The drinks and food were unimpressive at best. There are many other restaurants and bars in the neighborhood I would recommend before Square 1682."

  • "The restaurant was not crowded and the truffle popcorn was a nice bridge between our drinks and meal. Food was delicious and plentiful. The options for either ordering an entree or a pairing with an appetizer & dessert were a nice touch. Only negative is that we coould not find our server when trying to pay the bill."

  • "This restaurant is a gem. The staff are wonderful and attentive. Food is amazing. We are very picky about our food and have only good things to say about Square 1682. My husband had the burger which was fresh and delicious. I had Amish chicken which was moist and perfect. My daughter had fettuccine with veggies. Another great dish. Vegetables were fresh! They grow their own and locally source. They are serious about farm to table food and it makes all the difference. We had the cheesecake for dessert. Light and perfectly sweetened. Eat here for a hip and delicious meal in Philly!"

  • "it's my second time there. while i loved it for the first time, this time it was a disappointment. the food was average. my cold soup felt more like salad dressing and the french fries accompanied to the burger were cold! the service was slow and they forgot things (and the restaurant was not full). overall a mediocre experience. second time there, but won't come back."

  • "Recently Square 1682 downsized. That was probably a good decision given that the bigger space wasn't full very often. But it also changed the place. With the smaller size, the wait staff seems to be less attentive. The good news is the food is still a terrific blend of original flavors with hot food served hot and cold food served cold. Food excellent, service acceptable."

  • "I understand what they're aiming for at Square 1682, but they don't quite get there. The food was very good and very inventive, but the staff was distracted. Maybe because they television above the bar is loud and obnoxious? Maybe because the staff is to thin for the room? I'm not sure. I was expecting the whole farm to table experience. That's what I had been told I would get. Our waitress confessed that she wasn't really certain that the local chickens actually tasted better. We ordered a bottle of not inexpensive white wine, which was brought to the table room temperature and was off."

  • "Square 1682 was easy to find and park close to for Sunday Brunch in Center City Philadelphia. The menu was diverse and had enough gluten free selections to satisfy those who are sensitive including my daughter. We also had my 11 month old grand daughter, the service team was especially sensitive to our needs in that respect. The food was tasty and the servings and served quickly - the restaurant was not busy or crowded. There was outdoor seating which looked appealing although we did not take advantage of it. We enjoyed our meal and would consider returning."

  • "When you look at the menu you see it's expensive and even though the food was very good, it's way overpriced. But the Salmon I had was excellent. the salad was good as well. great variety of alcohol choices. The waitress was very nice but spoke so quiet that we couldn't hear her and needed her to repeat several times what she's saying. we also needed to wait several time for the check. but in general, food came fast. water glasses were always full. good experience that would have been better if it was cheaper. and last thing: why the restrooms are at the 2nd floor of the hotel. a long journey and i think it's disrespectful to the costumers at the restaurant and affect the overall service experience."
