The service was at first slow but once we let the host know they were amazing about getting our food to us! The food itself was delightful! I've never had such great flavors blended together! We started with the licorice salad which was delicious and I got the halibut which came in the most amazing coconut broth! I ordered the Rabbit and it was good but it wasn't fantastic. I think it was to many flavors and the rabbit alone tasted kind of bland. Wine pairings were good but not great. Service the night we dined seemed a little off as there were long spans of time between courses causing our total dining time to top 2.5 hours. All of the intermezzo courses were pleasant surprises, except for the "grilled" cheese which was a tad heavy. Flavors were well matched and balanced. Ample ingredients without being over the top or pretentious.
Our server, John, was very knowledgeable and explained each dish quite well. Nice steady pace to service.
Overall, very nice dining experience. Sprout is in my opinion one of the best restaurants in Chicago in terms of value. certainly, dollar for dollar it's one of the best places to try a tasting menu. the food and service are usually both outstanding. Everything is cooked perfectly. We have been there several times and it is never as crowed as I would hope - would be good to have a bit more energy. The service is very professional and friendly and it has a very welcoming atmosphere.
