Spring Mill Caferomantic delicious gemService was wonderful. Atmosphere is romantic and quiet. Food was delicious!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Brunch was superbOur first visit to Spring Mill Cafe was everything I had heard it was. A charming rustic farmhouse with a gorgeous garden, lovely young staff was so accommodating and charming, and the French food was delicious. Yes, we will return!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love the dining here, itWe love the dining here, it feels like we're away for the weekend! The food is very good and the service is warm and attentive.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMSpring Mill was very verySpring Mill was very very good. Service was excellent, the food superb. My wife had the rabbit and I had the duck both great.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBoth the food and serviceBoth the food and service were extremely good, I have no negatives to say other than how cramped it can get. It was a muggy day when I went; the windows were open and just the number of bodies crammed into a small place. They however cannot control the weather so no fault there.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a terrific dinner toWe had a terrific dinner to celebrate my daughter's graduation. The menu is very nice (French). Appetizers included cheese plate (very good) and poached shrimp over mixed greens with an orange marmalade vinagrete (excellent). Our meals were very good and included filet mignon (grass fed) with a red wine reduction (tremendous and prepared perfectly), rabbit (very good), monkfish and redfish (wow) and pan fried scallops (very nice). Everyone enjoyed the desserts very much too (included mousse and cakes). The atmosphere is very nice. A quaint little house with a beautiful garden and a farmhouse across the parking lot (that you can sit outside or inside). We ate in the house and it was perfect. Excellent find. Expensive but worth it!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant without being PretentiousMy boyfriend and I decided to go out for a fancier dinner on Friday and wanted a BYO. We had heard great things about Spring Mill. Not knowing much about pate and see several different options in the appetizer selection, we went with a pate sampler. It was delicious! For our main courses, my boyfriend ordered scallops over a spring pea risotto and I ordered the braised rabbit in a creamy mustard sauce. There were two side dishes that caught our eye, so we ordered a potato artichoke hash and roasted kale. YUM to everything!! We sat outside, enjoying the ambiance and cool weather. The garden is beautiful and the cars passing by on the road are not even noticeable. We finished our meal with berries and cream. We will definitely be coming back!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently excellent foodConsistently excellent food and service...just keeps getting better. An excellent BYOB!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA mustThe menu was extensive and I had trouble make a choice for an entree. Service impeccable. Lovely setting - relaxing and comfortable.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a treat at the Cafe'Always a good time at the Cafe'. Wife and I sat in the 'barn house' for the first time. Very cool. Food was tremendous, as usual. Wait staff pleasant (a little on the stuffy side, but, then again, they are serving a more upscale clientele, of which I am NOT...lol..)
Only two observations:
1. The barn house had a distinct 'musty smell' at first. My wife and I occupied one of the earlier seating times. The odor was overpowered by the great food when the dining room filled up a bit.
2. Our wine glasses were very water marked to the point of questioning if they were clean. That was not appealing. Take some time to rinse the glassware people! I think the $160 I paid for dinner should get me that, at least.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMHad not been there in a whileHad not been there in a while and the food and atmosphere were fabulous. I told my husband we have to go back more regularly.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMSitting on the porch was likeSitting on the porch was like being in France on Vacation. Our Server was the best!
Thank you for a lovely Saturday afternoon.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAll four of us really enjoyedAll four of us really enjoyed our meals. The hen with
Cous cous was delicious. Mushroom salad was
Good also. We appreciated that grass fed beef
Was on the menu and that we could order
Sides of vegetables like kale and Brussel sprouts.
The service was excellent. I thought the flour less
Chocolate cake was too dry but my husband enjoyed it.
The only downside of our experience: it was much too
Noisy!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a fabulous experienceAlways a fabulous experience at Spring Mill - like a step into a genteel time machine/country get-away. We've enjoyed this restaurant for more than a decade and are continually surprised by how the food and overall experience keeps getting better and better.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the bestSimply the best. Lunch, Dinner, Special Occassion. The is no place like it in the area. In fact you will fee like you are in France--in the wonderful countryside--enjoying a memorable meal.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSpring mill cafe once againSpring mill cafe once again exceeded our expectations on Wednesday night. Great good (try the Duck, new to menu), and great service ( they were super busy and we still felt very taken care of). Looking forward to our next visit.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, a very intimate,Overall, a very intimate, pleasant place with very good food. BYOB makes it even better IMO.
Some had the entre of lamb....mine was cooked just the way I asked. Lots of seed mustard as a "crust". Two people had the rabbit and it was very good--in a mustard cream sauce (maybe it is just my imagination, but it seems a bit too big for rabbit and the meat a bit too white...more like chicken? Probably just my imagination). The desserts however, were disappointing, IMO.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGerat nightGreat dining experience. All 6 of us really enjoyed. Food, ambience and service all good!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMalways a great choiceAs always, a great evening. We were seated in the "farmhouse" (annex) and everything was first rate. We had filet, poisson and duck, appetizers and dessert. Will definitely return.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSpring Mill CafeBest Place Ever....we love the atmosphere, the employee's, the owners and the Food is always exceptional.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous restaurant. ImpeccableFabulous restaurant. Impeccable service, delicious food, lovely atmosphere. A favorite.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA very romantic spot and alsoA very romantic spot and also very French. It is dependable but the menu also evolves. They are also quite socially conscious which is nice.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOur small birthday group celebratedOur small birthday group celebrated here recently. Food is delicious and prepared to order. I didn't rank it 5 stars because portions are small for a bigger male appetite. It was fine for us ladies! Ambiance is rustic country, service was great however we were one of only three tables filled this night. I would not suggest Spring Mill as an eating out venue as the cafe is right on an uphill rise and trucks were shifting loudly to get up the hill along with cars and motorcycles going by. Otherwise,a wonderful BYOB spot.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectIn an era where every restaurant seems to have as its greatest priority, the loudest possible ambiance where no conversation whatsoever is possible, Spring Mill Cafe remains a lovely temple to fine food. I took a dear friend from France to lunch... he was enthralled with the location - the little stream behind the restaurant, the old house itself - saying that it felt like the French countryside. All good! BUT, it was the rabbit, amazingly tender, enrobed in a marvelous mustardy cream sauce over tagliatelle noodles that sealed the deal. I can't wait to return... because restaurants like this - where one can enjoy beautiful food AND actually discuss the food while enjoying it - are becoming fewer and fewer.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little restaurant tuckedGreat little restaurant tucked into the woods. Very small so be prepared to sit close to others. I've heard outside dining is nice here but it's been too cold each time I've visited. Love the BYOB!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful dinnerWe had a wonderful dinner in celebration of a birthday! I loved being called "madame" which made us all feel like we were in Paris. The wait staff couldn't have been more attentive and made suggestions that were right on target! I will definately go back...oh, and the dafodill cake brought to the birthday girl with a candle was the cherry on top!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything about this mealEverything about this meal was perfect! From the perfectly composed cheese plate through the delicious fish dishes (the Skate Meunière and the Mediterranean poisson du jour) and the side of sautéed kale to the Daffodil cake (angel food) and chocolate mousse. We have been coming here for years. Perfection!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent in every respect.Excellent in every respect. We went for Easter Brunch, with a special menu. The food was terrific, the choices varied, every dish served as requested. Lovely brunch3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA great little BYO in theA great little BYO in the 'burbs with atttentive service, great food and a quiet ambiance.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food! Fabulous space! What an amazing restaurant! I love the building(s) that this restaurant is in -- an old farmhouse turned restaurant gives this space such a unique and cozy feel. I went with my family for brunch and we all loved everything we ordered! From pate to cheese plates, steak and eggs, scallops and risotto to the duck -- everything was delicious!! Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The only complaint I have is that this restaurant isn't closer to Philadelphia! I will definitely be returning. This place has become one of my favorite restaurants.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Romantic BYOBThis was a great little French type BYOB with excellent ambience. We were in the quaint stone farmhouse. The food was very good and great selection of dishes. Very romantic if you chose a special occasion. Will definitely return.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMarch 28, 2013I have been to the Spring Mill a number of times. As usual, our meal was fantastic. This was the first time, however. I had the Plat du Jour, which was Boeuf Bourguignon. It was a prepared in a traditional style and served in a large bowl. The sauce was rich and slightly salty. The beef was fall-apart tender and melted in my mouth.
We also had a cheese plate which included a very intense blue cheese and a cheese which had been washed in Belgian beer (Chimay). The latter had a very complex flavor and was absolutely delicious.
For dessert, we had the Montmorency. It's a rich, dark chocolate flour-less cake, served with a very light whipped cream and an intense cherry compote. Extraordinary.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA little gem outside Conshohocken.A little gem outside Conshohocken. Very relaxed atmosphere which captures a French countryside bistro quite well. Menu was excellent for a cold weekend lunch. I had the croque monsieur which had a nice thick cut of ham and melted swiss cheese on a thick, toasted slices of fresh bread. Salad was very nice as well. Dessert was a (big enough for two) slice of coconut cake with lemon and other fruits. Service was relaxed and thorough. BYOB.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe dinner menus was wellThe dinner menus was well done, with a range of selections from salad to pate to quail for appetizers and an equally diverse choice of skate, braised rabbit and others for an entrée. Service was energetic and attentive.
I have been going for almost forty years and I took my daughter for her first time. For both of us, it was four star experience.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Spring Mill Cafe andWe love Spring Mill Cafe and have been going there for over 30 years. The food's outstanding and made from fresh ingredients with Michele's own recipes. The staff are wonderful people who really care that you have a great experience. The owners (mother and son) are delightful, and the setting is truly cool. If you're a stuffed shirt who needs to be pampered and buttered up, go somewhere else - this place is simply the real deal.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMhappy birthdaycelebrated a birthday there last night ...... the deconstructed cassoulet was a real winner .as well as the mushroom salad.. lamb chops ....angel food cake and apple bread pudding
worth every calorie and then some

as an aside, the server figured out it was a birthday celebration ( no direct info given ) and put a candle in my dessert ==== was i impressed == you betcha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways exceptional food, delightfulAlways exceptional food, delightful ambiance, outstanding service, and nice people.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant close to PhillyIt was great! Can't say enough about the food, service, ambiance.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experienceI have been dining at the Spring Mill Cafe for years...I thought it was a well-kept secret, but they were fully booked this night. I was seated early (6:30 p.m.) By 8:00 there was a couple without a reservation waiting. Staff made a three-top out of a two-top and gave the couple waiting a complementary glass of champagne. Awesome to see.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe St. Martins LadiesWe love the Spring Mill Cafe...we are welcomed and feel like part of their family. The food and ambiance are exceptional.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner Great Menu Words are WRONGWe ate in the Farmhouse extension. It is warm, French inspired and beautiful. The service was good. The entrées were delicious. The escargot appetizer to die for! My only complaint - the dessert. Described as Praline Apple Bread Pudding, with Caramel Ice Cream – it was a very good bread pudding with only 2 apple slices, and no taste of praline to be found. When I inquired about the praline - I was told that it was a "Style" of caramelizing the apples. Every dictionary says NUTS in boiled browned sugar = praline. The ice cream had chocolate in it, and I could not detect caramel. I think the server handled the inquiry badly. I was disappointed with the explanation as I know better. I think the server handled the inquiry poorly.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great Valentines DayHad a great Valentines Day Luncheon. Food was great as was the ambiance.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorites for 30 yrsSpring Mill Cafe is a wonderful, romantic little place with great people, food & service in a great old house in modest condition filled with interesting junk. The food's basically country French, but the owner (a wonderful & creative woman who is French through & through) loves to add little twists & nuances that make the food so much more than "just" French. Michelle & her son Ezra proudly oversee a true classic, where everything is fresh & beautiful on your plate. All food that can be is locally sourced, including the wonderful beef (available both grass fed & grain). Bring your best wines & share them with the staff and other diners - this place is quite simply what life's all about.12/22/2012 12:00:00 AM
