Diner Reviews
  • "The Tavern was a surprise for us. The menu has a little bit of everything, an a full bar. The ingredients quality was outstanding and the preparation was not very buttery, I love that. We had dinner inside, but the outdoor dining room looked beautiful. The service was a little slow, I guess it was because of the hour. I totally recommend it."

  • "I do have a complaint. I made a reservation for 3:30pm on a Sat. and it was confirmed. When I got there I was told they close between 3: 30 - 4:30. They were willing to seat us if we would hurry up and order lunch. This was a dinner for my daughter's birthday. I didn't want to hurry up and order anything. We came back at 4:30, but I was not a happy patron."

  • "Been going here for many years. They have the best crab in any manner in town, Execellent friendly service and a pleasant room . The3 menu has changed over the years but it reflects great variety and quality as it expresses the traditional American food. Only negative was that they no longer accept Amex"

  • "Don't know if our server was having an off night but we had to repeat requests (bread, drinks, refill water glasses, etc.) and the place was not busy. Otherwise, food good as always."

  • "The other times we've eaten at Springhouse Tavern, we ate in the restaurant, which was more of a special occasion feel and quieter - this time we ate at a table in the bar. The bar was full of life and a lot of fun for a night out with friends. We've enjoyed the restaurant when we've gone with our parents, but for younger folks, the bar is a great option!"

  • "Good place for an expeditious New Years Eve dinner. With a limited, but varied holiday menu and no substitutions they were geared to getting you in and out to your next stop - be it movie, party or early bed. While there were only Christmas decorations and no music, hosts and servers contributed to a festive atmosphere by dressing up in gold and black with bangles and beads, and cheerful party attitudes. Our waitress was a treat. Dinners were well prepared, although my filet was too salty. Since we were served so quickly, we even had time for desserts of wonderfully creamy rice pudding and a superb apple pie."

  • "I tried to make reservations at a few other restaurants for Valentines day but they were all booked. Spring House was close to home so I tried them and was surprised they had seating available. I got lucky, not only because of the great service but the food was excellent as well. I had been here before some time ago and wasn't all that impressed but I will making it a more frequent stop."

  • "We got their pre-fixed menu for Valentines Day. I ordered the prime rib of beef which tasted very good, but I was disappointed in how small the portion was. After our meal while waiting for the bill, the table next to us also received their meals which were both prime rib. their portions were nearly 3 times the size of my portion. I asked the people of they ordered off of the pre-fixed menu, and they verified that they did. When I asked the waitress why their portions were so much bigger, she said that when we placed our order, they were almost out of prime rib, and the cooks were trying to stretch it out, but that they had made more, and that's why the other table got a large portion, and why we got a smaller portion. Not going back!"

  • "My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day. We both agreed that the food was okay, but the atmosphere of the restaurant is very old-fashioned. You can tell they cater to an older crowd. I really think that the 70s decor needs to be updated or at least made to look like it goes with the building. Our server was great and we liked that they gave us a heart box with chocolates at the end. Great beer list! The food seemed old-fashioned too, something my grandmother would expect to order. It was just OK and the price we paid was outrageous for what we got. We won't be going back but I'm sure there are lots of older people who enjoy this place."

  • "First visit to Spring House Tavern. Attended the Sunday Brunch Arrived at 10:15 am, had the place to ourselves until 11:00 am Food was great, large selection for brunch The carver and omelet Chef, "mikey" was Very personable and made our visit worth coming back. Keep that employee! Carving room/areas do get "smokey" from the cooking Perhaps the installation of an overhead exhaust fan would help our clothing absorbed the odors and had to be washed as soon as we returned home. enjoyed our visit Will definitely return for their dinner selection Will definitely go back for dinner"

  • "My wife picked this restaurant for her birthday dinner. Unfortunately, they did not do too well in preparing her entree: Shrimp Scampi. Other than that, the appetizers, the soup, and the other entrees were good. It was a bit pricey ($40-50 per person)."

  • "Enjoyed a good dinner with out-of-town relatives. Even though the room became noisy as the evening progressed, the overall atmosphere was relaxed and conducive to lingering over food and drink. The waiter was very pleasant and professional. Food was excellent, especially the yellowfin tuna, rice pudding and pecan pie. One problem - the floor under our first table was so uneven, that my chair teetered on only two legs. Fortunately, we could move."

  • "The items on the menu are traditional (i.e. crab cakes, shrimp scampi), but they are prepared beautifully and the restaurant, which still maintains the feeling of a colonial home, is lovely."

  • "Unpretentious Old Fashioned Restaurant/ Tavern Atmosphere; Good, Hearty Food; Extensive Beer, Wine And Spirits Selection. Thanksgiving may not be the best day to try a new restaurant, but the Springhouse Tavern passed with flying colors. You could tell they had a long history of experience with holiday crowds, because everything came off without a hitch and barely a delay. Our waitress was animated and chatty, with a pleasantly friendly manner straight from your favorite local diner. Dinner was good -- scallops fresh and well prepared, turkey a bit dry but with tasty, moist stuffing and fresh green beans. Desert - rice pudding and pecan pie - was great. This was our first time. We’ll be back."

  • "We made a late decision on New Years Eve to grab an early dinner and a local movie and were surprised that this restaurant had a 5:45 reservation available on OpenTable. When we arrived, the hostess told us that the restaurant was booked and OpenTable should have shown no reservations available at that time. But she was able to place our party of two in the bar area. Service was prompt and the food was excellent: crab cakes for my wife and sauteed crab for me. The Snickers moose torte was a delicious dessert. We will certainly return. And we made our movie with plenty of time to spare."

  • "The staff, that is. Had a reservation, luckily, because a long wait otherwise. But were not greeted, just shuffled off to a table. Server was courteous but not very present. Food was bland, over priced & under spiced."

  • "I've been here many times and this time I will not go back. The menu was very limited, there was only one salad with house dressing as only option, you could not choose a side and the bread was cold. I will NOT go back for the price we paid. And I wasn't not offered sherry with the snapper soup."

  • "My daughter and I frequent Spring House Tavern even though it's a bit of a ride for us compared to all we have locally. She really wanted to have Christmas Eve dinner there and it was perfect! The restaurant was decorated beautifully and the food was excellent! It was a limited Holiday Menu but I still had a tough time deciding! I went with the Filet and "Famous" crab cake...both cooked to perfection! My daughter loves the shrimp cocktail, chicken fingers and most of all...the coffee ice cream! She can be picky but tried my crab cake and loved it! That makes them "famous" to me! We love the place and will be booking my daughter's confirmation dinner there for April!"

  • "Made a 12:30 reservation for 4 people. The lady at the desk (presumably the owner), told us they were swamped with walk-ins and we'd have to wait 15 min. or go into the bar area. What was the purpose of my reservation if we had to wait? That day a garden club was doing a house tour. This has been going on for YEARS. Why didn't Spring House put more wait staff on? We chose the bar area so we could get seated. The bartender was our waitress and she was swamped with bar duty and now getting our food. No fault of hers, she did her best. We waited 45 min. to get our food. The food was good, but service wasn't because of the amount of ladies that flowed into the bar area because they didn't want the long wait either. Poor planning!!"

  • "Springhouse is a favorite of ours. The food is always good. We sat out in the dining room closet to Bethlehem Pike. We were with my parents who are elderly and found it to be a bit cold. Other than that we had a wonderful night. Thank you."
