  • "My wife and I had dinner here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Chef Tim and his staff were very accommodating and delivered excellent service and a wonderful dining experience. Chef Tim is a talented cook and more importantly, personable. He made a point to visit with us while we were dining and let us know about the restaurant and see what we thought. I liked that touch of personality and his involvement with customers. I would recommend Spring House to anyone looking for a great dining experience as well as, great food."

  • "ate here before an evening at the theater. was a weeknight so not busy. well furnished and comfortable. beautiful outdoor seating. i had the pork loin which was tender and the mango sauce was yummy. whipped sweet potatoes were wonderful. for dessert, lava cake was nothing special, but the bread pudding and butterscotch were outstanding. open table worked fine as expected. told them on arrival we had tickets and they got us out 5 minutes after our requested departure time."

  • "Spring House is the kind of restaurant I really want to love. Unfortunately the service we experience is never equal to the caliber of restaurant Spring House should be. We took a friend from out of town for lunch to celebrate her birthday. My friend is diabetic and ordered half sweet, half unsweet tea. When the server came to refill my friends, I questioned if she was pouring sweet or unsweet. We then figured out she had given me the half-and-half and my friend my sweet. The food, one sandwich and two wraps, took forever to come out. The server would disappear for long periods of time. We finally flagged down a hostess so we could order a dessert and get our check. Beautiful restaurant with good food, but service has always been just fair."

  • "This place was great. It is hidden on a side street and does not have a sign outside. Once you get inside, it's a lovely restaurant with lots of great options. Unusual food and great wine. Wednesday night special is a 3 course prix fix for $20.12. You can't find delicious food at that price too ofen anymore!"

  • "'Tis a surprisingly large establishment, yet never noticed before by either of us. The reviews I read in advance suggested slow service which was not our experience. We did arrive at 6:30 pm for supper, though. The special, Mahi Mahi, was excellent, as was the spinach salad.The white, high-back basket chairs with plush cushions were a nice addition to our comfort. Our server was both friendly and attractive. I must admit that the rich and delicious Caramel Budino topped the meal off with a mood of both pleasure and obligation. Though the bill was a tad higher than I had anticipated, we'll be back."

  • "I had the pork cheeks with crawfish on grits. The grits were delicious. There was not much crawfish. The presentation was good. My husband had the chicken fried chicken and he said it was good. The food was not outstanding, but the restaurant was very classy. And the service was good. Our waitress was very helpful in suggesting entrees. The dessert was fair, but the coffee was outstanding."

  • "Valentine's Day was my second trip to Spring House. I have to say, I wasn't as impressed on a holiday as I was the first time I went. It took a long time to get our food when they were crowded, and it appeared that our server had too many tables. It wasn't the kind of service you expect when you pay $25+ for an entree. What's great about this place on a normal day is the ambiance. It's a beautiful house. It's comfortable. It's a great place to catch a romantic dinner that isn't over-the-top fancy. The drinks are delicious, and the food is, too. The portions are pretty decent for the price. I also like that the small menu changes from time to time to reflect what's fresh."

  • "The waitress was very good - no problem with her work. The wait time for the food was excessive - our reservation was for 7:30 - we received our entrée around 9:00. My wife was satisfied overall with her entrée of Crispy Salmon, although it wasn't "crispy". I was not satisfied at all with my entrée of Candied Pork Shank - it had very little taste and was certainly not sweet or "candied". I would not recommend this restaurant to others and do not plan to return."

The ambiance was great. Then we ate a delicious dinner. I would drive to Winston-Salem to eat here again. It's a great place."

  • "My wife and I ate here last week. We sat in the sunroom which was very pleasant. For a moment my wife and I considered ordering one of every appetizer. Instead we ordered the veal sweetbreads and oysters as appetizers. Both were amazing. My wife ordered the fried chicken and I had the beef short ribs. If you are in the market for winter time comfort foods then both of these will satisfy. The entire menu looked great and I hope we can make it back soon to try something else."

  • "Very nice restaurant in a great setting with great cuisine. I ordered the "crispy salmon," while my wife had the scallop "special" for the evening. We also had the restaurant's signature appetizer, the Portobello & Leek Quesadilla. All were great. Our waitress was very attentive, as well. We'll be back. We look for ward to dining there in the spring when we can enjoy the grounds."

  • "Met with friends for after holiday dinner. We sat in the sun porch which was very pretty and quiet. The scallops were very nice. My friend had the grouper which she loved. We had a nice bottle of sangiovese 2011 from local winery, Raffaldini. We had bread pudding and an apple tart for after. Both were delicious. The only negative aspect was that we asked for bread and were told that it was not complimentary which was fine but when it was served it was not warm-cold in fact. It was nice bread but would have been much better heated. This did not put a damper on a nice meal. Will be back. They have a nice outside dining area for warmer weather."

  • "Everyone at our table loved their lunch selection. My roasted tomato soap was divine!! The oysters were wonderful as well as the egg salad sandwich with salmon. And portions were more than generous. The atmosphere and ambience was so comforting and relaxing, and our wait staff was knowledgable and very helpful from the description of the dishes and their preparation to the wine selection. I can't wait to return and enjoy it all again!!"

  • "The Spring House continues to be the best food in town. Chef Tim keeps experimenting and changing the menu and the Fall Menu does not disapoint. The Bahnsen Burger is incredible - easily two meals. My wife had the Southern "Hot Pot" and loved it - very creative. The staff is top notch! I would also recommend the Toasted Apples cocktail - perfect winter warmer. "Grandma's" Bread Pudding is decadently delicious and you HAVE to get the Butterscotch Budino - words cannot express..."
