We stayed at the Flannigans Inn four years ago and had breakfast at the Spotted Dog, this time we had an evening meal and it was excellent, the service was great and the staff were very friendly. My wife had the lamb shank and I had the river trout, both meals were cooked to perfection. We would recommend the Spotted Dog to all.

Spotted Dog Cafe was recommended by some locals so we decided to give it a try and were we ever happy we did. First, it is located near the Zion Park entrance and is a stop on the local free shuttle that runs through Springdale so it is easy to get to and from. Second, it is located on the west side of the street so it gets shad from the mountain behind it starting around 4:30pm which makes it great to eat outside after a hot day of hiking. The wait staff was excellent, being prompt, responsive, attentive and courteous. The food was freshly prepared and the wine list was very nice for being in a wilderness/national park area. Highly recommend if you are in Springdale, UT at Zion National Park south end.

When i arrived for breakfast it turned out to be buffet only. I was initially disappointed but I stumbled across their fruit portion. They had some amazingly fresh local fruits that were absolutely fantastic. I prepared myself a nice fruit, yogurt, nut parfait. It was just the thing to start my morning out in Zion. I also had some random bites of bacon, sausage, and biscuit with gravy. They were all fine just not my favorite, bacon was the best of the rest of the buffet.

Did not expect to find gourmet food right outside of Zion National Park! Amazing view, delightful and attentive service by Anthony, and delicious locally produced food expertly prepared by chef! Decided to try appetizer specials -wild mushroom soup and heirloom tomato caprese salad-both were fresh and tasty! In addition we had a smoked trout appetizer to share- also from local area. The hearty entrees of braised lamb shank and buffalo and elk meatloaf were excellent choices. Almost made us skip dessert - but we couldn't resist sharing an exceptional Creme Brûlée - great vanilla flavor. Dinner was washed down by the featured house label Cabernet and the Ramy Chardonnay from the noted wine list!

Caprese salad and steaks were terrific but the pasta was tasteless with bland tomato sauce-the veggie burger was also boring. The mushroom appetizer was huge and the flatbread was a good addition. By far the best feature of the restaurant is the awesome view located in the back room. Parking is tight

Attentive service; very good food; enjoyable to sit outside and have dinner and enjoy the night sky; but no matter where you sit in the restaurant you will have an excellent view given there wide, tall windows. Drinks were good, made just the way we asked (which doesn't happen often); had the beet salad, French Brie and wild game meatloaf. All excellent. They do get busy, which says a lot, so reservations are helpful, but if you don't have a reservation they will try their best to accommodate you. Highly Recommend; would definitely return. Ate there twice while in Springdale.

I have been to many restaurants in Springdale and Spotted Dog is among the best. The staff suggested we sit inside due to pending thunderstorm. The rain arrived about 20 min. later so we had a nice inside table with great view of the surrounding hills. I started with the Beet and Blue Cheese Salad. The quality of the ingredients was top notch. I then had the Gourmet Game Meatloaf which was great with a unique flavor due to the mixture of meats. The vegetables were done perfectly with a surprising mild curry flavor. Our server was attentive but not intrusive as we enjoyed our meal. The only complaint was my wife ordered a medium rare steak which had to be sent back as it arrived very rare. I highly recommend this place

Perfect evening for outside dining with amazing sunset views of zion mountains. Humming birds also a treat to watch. Inside was beautifully set as well. Our food was hit and miss. Steak was served well done when we asked for medium. The tomato spicy soup was delicious and unique as was the homemade tasting hummus. Service a bit off perhaps the individual waiter.

I had a special evening planned for a birthday surprise dinner. I asked for a special booth/table and a dessert to be served and none of it happened. My previous requests went ignored. The drinks from the bar were terrible. We ordered a lemon drop and a cosmo martini's. The lemon drop was made with sweet and sour and when I told our server that it was just vodka - he said well do you want a lemon wedge. LIKE REALLY? Then the cosmo had a sugar rim on it. Both drinks were terrible and the waiter was not cognizant of us after we complained about the drinks being terrible. After the manager served our meals, we were never asked how our food was. The only good things about the place is the view and the pesto penne pasta. Nothing else.

Don't let the casual name fool you. If you have been hiking all day and want a quick simple meal your in the wrong place. Good wine list , casual but more for adults and kids who are use to eating at finer restaurants. Nice ambiance. Fairly priced in comparison to surrounding restaurants. Nicely done, not superb, but was a welcome meal after all the local hamburgers, pizza etc.

If you are looking for a upper scale spot with comfortable seating and a nice view in the area, then Spotted Dog is your kind of place. The food was decent and nicely presented. The flavors are mild (surprisingly light on salt, which is nice). Smoked trout appetizer was good; pear 'pillow' pasta was creative; wild meat loaf was okay (however, I didn't like the cumin in it). I do want to point out that service seems to be good - it was just unfortunate that our server had no energy and didn't want to be there at all.

We were very disappointed to find out we weren't able to bring an old bottle of wine, that we were saving for our 27th wedding anniversary, into the Spotted Dog. We were informed that it is illegal to bring a decanted bottle of wine into a restaurant in the state of Utah. After some research, this is not illegal in the state of Utah. Although our entrees were cooked perfectly, the chicken was very very salty.

During our two night stay at the Flanigan's Inn the obvious choice for dinning was the spotted dog café. With a splendid service, great menu, (special) wines from all over the world for the wine lover and a breath taking view on Zions canyon walls. Oh I forget to mention the lovely humming birds who visit the spotted dogs special feeding places in nice but none disturbing numbers. The service during both our visits was optimum and so was the food. A great menu to choose from, with some outstanding dishes. If coming back to Zion, the Flanigan's Inn and the Spotted dog café will be the first choice! Ewald & Saskia from the Netherlands

The Spotted Dog was highly rated on TripAdvisor and it was close to our hotel. We were looking for a "nicer" place in Springdale that went beyond the pizza/burger place. What a gem we found. The back patio was off the street and very quiet and peaceful. We had pasta dishes that were excellent, both recommended by our waitress. I've been there twice. The first time I was unimpressed with my dinner, but I had never had lamb shank before, so it may have been fine and I just don't care for lamb shank. The food on the second visit was much better. We sat in the back room on the first visit and the sun coming through the windows was so blinding I had to change my seat. I noticed other diners had the same problem.

There was a fun vibe at the Spotted Dog. The crowd was mostly hikers and outdoor lovers as told by their casual clothes. The patio was the first choice to sit and full so request when making reservations. Dinner was very good. Two of us ordered trout and one ordered the pasta purses. We had to send back the pasta because it was not hot. Our server took it back with apologies and had it back to us in no time at all. The wine selection was good and the wine our server recommended was wonderful.
