Wow, Sportello never disappoints. This time we went for 3 courses, and everything was great! Yummy take on Caprese - it had a little kick, which I loved. The tomatoes and mozzarella were high quality. For the main dish, the tagliatelle bolognese was out of this world good. Two days later, I was still thinking of it.The gnocchi was fabulous but rich - we didn't finish a half portion between the two of us because of the truffle oil, but that didn't mean we didn't like it! My boyfriend had the farfale with lobster and liked it! It was a different take on a lobster pasta than the normal creamy sauce ones. Their tiramisu was awesome! I didn't love the drizzle, but I never do, so I just should have stopped them. I want to go back now!!

They just do excellent, high quality food. I NEVER order gnocchi in Italian restaurants here in the states, because they tend to be either gummy or like little rocks that sit in your stomach for hours, but when our server said they had been on the menu from the beginning, I gave them a try, and was NOT disappointed - light, fluffy potato pillows, as they should be! (Only place I'd ever had better gnocchi was Turin!!) Bolognese was delicious, polenta, delicious. It's Italian food that is based on the correct principles, high quality ingredients prepared simply and carefully to evoke maximum flavor without a lot of added STUFF. And our lovely server put up with my crazy parents and their bizarre ordering. Kudos to her! will be back!

Only the artichoke starter was a misstep...everything else about the meal was exceptional! Our extraordinary waiter impressed with his knowledge of the wine list and the red we settled on was served at the perfect temperature (both bottles!). The use of seasonal vegetables sets this restaurant apart from many others. Spicy tomato soup, heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella and all the accompaniments that made the fresh pastas delectably mouth-watering. Loved the sea bass with peas and pancetta (great recommendation!) and the desserts did not disappoint. Pricey meal, but worth every penny...a fine dining experience in a trendy setting.

We stopped by for a late dinner after a concert at the ICA, and had salads and polenta with lamb ragu - both fabulous. Sitting at the counter makes it easy to talk despite the energetic noise level - I like the lack of fussiness, and the setup also means good contact with the serving staff. i might have upped the ante on seasoning the ragu in my own kitchen, but my companion thought it was perfect; I appreciated the good judgment on portion size, right on target to be satisfying but not so much you wish you hadn't finished it. Really nice experience.

This came recommended by a Boston restaurant owner. We were in town and trying to find local gems. This hit the mark! Pasta is pretty high priced but so worth it. Fresh made pasta and sauces! We had the tagliatelle with bolognese and it was the best I've ever had. The pork belly crostinis were wonderful too! Great, laid back service and loved the bar seating. We loved it so much we went back the next night for a late night dinner. We will definitely be back!

I am on the fence with this restaurant. Food was good but overpriced for pasta. I have had better for less money. Sitting is strange if in a group of more than four. I just don't know if I would go back. I don't know why my review is nicknamed "Yummy" not my choice.

As a vegan diner my options dining out are often well...boring. Especially when I dine mostly with non vegan eaters. The six or so times I've dined at Sportello they've not only been accommodating but they've been incredibly kind and inventive in their menu options for me going beyond my typical vegetable plate. Each meal has been completely delicious and a wonderful dining experiene and I really can't applaud them enough! Thanks Sportello!

To start with, the food was excellent. We started out with the Pork Belly Crostini and Buratta with Strawberries. Both delicious, although my recommendation is to order snacks instead of the appetizers/first course options since you get more bang for your buck. The buratta was delicious but could have used more crostini (and cheese-- yum!). For entrees we both got pasta and this was a pretty great deal! Our server was great about making recommendations. The ding on service is because the server spoke so quietly and the restaurant is quite loud, plus we weren't sure if the recommendations were heartfelt or what he's supposed to tell you. It just seemed a little odd. The ambiance is a little strange with the counter service.

Although I did not make a big deal about it, being on a business lunch, I was skeeved by not one, but TWO instances of a long black hair: one on a bread plate; and one delivered to the table on the bottom of an iced tea glass. Plus what was up with that server's attitude? There's a fine line between tattooed hipstress and standoffish. You were the latter. Too many choices in Fort Point to put up with that.

My first time to Sportello, and I'm already looking forward to the second. The food was excellent, as I've come to expect from all of Barbara Lynch's restaurants. But the service staff make her establishments a dinning occasion. I had a chance to chat with the chefs in this open kitchen concept resto, and they were so welcoming and excited to talk about their craft. Similarly the waitstaff had an amazing knowledge of not only the menu, but ideas on the best wine pairings from a very well curated wine list. If you get a chance, sit at the bar around the counter and talk to team. Follow up with a stop at "Drink" below for a hand crafted cocktail that will blow your mind.

I've been dying to come here. I had the dish w the rabbit meat and it was awesome. The pasta was one inch noodles that looked like someone hand rolled them. I've never had rabbit and I have to say I like it. The dessert was fabulous. The chocolate silk tart went well w the pine nuts and caramel and cocoa krispies! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and Caitlyn was great, she was attentive and seemed like she really wanted my experience to be fabulous.

Not only do the talented chefs and staff serve my definition of comfort food, it remains pretty affordable; a filling pasta meal never goes above $35 total. Though the counter seating was peculiar at first, it still feels intimate. I always love seeing my favorite choices such as the Tagliatelle Bolognese, but occasionally seasonal choices pop up. The first few times I came, the desserts were good but not incredible, but the last two visits, I have had an incredible coconut cake, so all parts of the menu constantly evolve and stay fresh. Service is jovial and prompt, even when the restaurant is busy. Exploring restaurants in Boston has become a (costly) hobby for me, but whenever I want to take someone out, I always recommend Sportello.

Started evening in the "basement" bar where we had to join the lineup of enthusiastic young people to get in. The bar was hopping from one end to the other but the service was prompt and friendly. The bartender concocted a special drink according to my request. Definitely recommend this experience prior to dining upstairs. We lucked out and had Ethan as our server. He was very friendly and had a great sense of humor. We dined at Sportello this week and our food was terrific, but the whole experience was made better by our waitress Haley. She was so knowledgeable, personable and friendly it made the experience even better. My vegetarian daughter couldn't decide what eat, so she asked Haley to 'surprise her' and she brought her two appetizer-portion sizes that were amazing. I had the bolognese which I loved, but my husband had the braised rabbit which was even better, so I'll be sure to try that next time. We finished dinner with their classic coconut cake for dessert. All staff was attentive and made you feel like you were in their home. We will go often and so happy to have had the experience.

The food here was great - I loved that the menu was small and manageable. There was something for everyone. I was disappointed in the daily specials of the day. But moreso, I was disappointed with the very very small wine list and practically non-existent cocktail menu. Go here for the delicious food - but make sure to stop elsewhere for some drinks along the way since you will only be able to have a select wine or two for dinner with your meal.

Read-ups sounded good, so decided to try this place. I liked that the pasta was freshly made at the restaurant, and the main course was relatively good - the Bolognese. Appetizers were extremely small and disappointing. I also did not like the setting however - it was like being in a diner. The stools were very uncomfortable, and the lighting was bright, and the space was stark. The wait-staff and chef's were standing around looking at the customers which was a little awkward. I guess the ambiance and experience was a letdown. Too bad really, because the location and the menu had some good aspects. Just wasn't pulled together entirely.

Great food. The atmosphere is pretty funky, but you can't eat atmosphere. It is definately not No. 9 Park or Menton, although the prices are not much less. We did not get to Drink downstairs, but we had plenty of wine with our meals. The wine list does not have Chardonnay, so we were not pleased, since most of us had fish. The waiter did recommend a decent close second, but not to have Chardonnay is like saying: Drink what we want you to drink, not what you want. We recommend they add at least one good Chardonnay to the List. For the price, I doubt we would go back. (We come to Boston at least once a year, as all of my relatives live there.) For a B. Lynch restaurant, we will go to No. 9 Park or Menton again in the future.
