Spoon Bar & KitchenGreat Dining ExperienceIt is so nice to get a great dining experience in Dallas at a location that is not a steak house. If you love seafood, Spoon delivers a truly great fine dining experience. The atmosphere and service were superb and the food was great. I highly recommend eating here. We will be back.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful fishA rare restaurant with such an emphasis on seafood . The tasting menu was wonderful in concept and preparation. Counting the amuse there were seven seafood items followed by desert. I would recommend getting the wine pairing with each course, all well chosen and presented. The tasting menu included all of the best fish on the menu for that evening. A great evening!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMObserving the Chef and hisObserving the Chef and his crew was extremely impressive. The most focused team I have seen, and that is saying a lot being in management all my life. Quiet, efficient, and team leadership produced magnificent dishes, with immediate delivery to the tables. The Chef and staff are to be commended.

The wine list is varied an creative . The chef's tasting will take you to many different experiences . If you haven't tried Spoon then you have not eaten at one of the top 3 restaurants in Dallas .5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated a friend's birthdayWe celebrated a friend's birthday here and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The food was wonderful, the ambiance was great and the server was easy on the eyes. I had the Arctic char with pea puree and it was good--however my friend had the gnocchi with crabmeat and it was fabulous. Highly recommend it.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat birthdayMy partner took me here for my birthday. The food was excellent, and the service was excellent. We had the tuna and foie gras appetizer as well as an assortment of crudos. The cuttlefish and the hearts of palm were amazing. I loved the pink peppercorns. For our main course we had the seafood Ramen and the swordfish steak. The swordfish steak was simple but amazing. And the Ramen was complex and delicious. For pre-dessert: caramel, chocolate, and sea salt was out of this world but, the yuzu sorbet blew my mind.I was in heaven. On top of the amazing food it was great to see and meet John Tesar. As big fans we were not disappointed!5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Food but a bit awkwardThe tables are way to close together so it was a bit awkward. The food was astounding so I didn't mind paying $250 for 2 people(& we weren't even drinking alcohol). The wait staff seemed like they were just doing the motions. I had to ask for refills 3 times.
The restaurant seemed a little sterile and uncomfortable but the food was 5 star.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial PlaceThis place is casual elegance at it's best. Delicious food, excellent wait staff and overall beautiful environment. The details of the flatware, dishes and accessories is extraordinary as well. Don't miss this one!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb, truly, food and service.Superb, truly, food and service. Just difficult for conversation for more than two people, in our opinion. But it is a smart looking place with the channel backed banquettes and photographs on walls.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMSpoonReservation was for 7:30.

Our main server was very knowledgeable and passionate about his job which made the experience that much better. Food was also excellent and I would advise trying the chefs tasting menu. Definitely a good place for foodies!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was beyond amazing! IfIt was beyond amazing! If I'd known it was that good, would have gone earlier!. Will definitely be back with other couples.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb from start to finishImpeccable service - beautiful atmosphere - delicious food...one of the absolute best spots in Dallas. Fresh seafood flown in daily and prepared perfectly. Desserts were also outstanding. Highly recommend.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe WORST truffle pasta everWhile the initial flavor was delicious, the underlying saltiness tasted like someone opened a salt shaker and poured it onto the dish. That killed my enjoyment of this highly touted dish. Other than that everything else was top notch. I would have rated the restaurant as excellent.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMperfectI took my 84 year old Mom here for Mothers Day... we loved everything... service was impeccable...for my Mom, the noise level was upbeat but not loud... and that's hard to find... we would highly recommend this place...5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFine dinning in a relaxed settingFood, spirits and fun all in an upscale dinning experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMamazing imagination hits the platewonderful experience all around, friendly greeting, attentive service and incredible food for every course!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit- pre theaterWe had early pre theater dinner. I agree with Dallas Morning New Food Critic Review.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA top flight seafood restaurantA top flight seafood restaurant that is great for lunch as well as dinner. Quieter and more serene at lunch. The menu adds sandwiches but not ones you'll find anywhere else: lobster on brioche and swordfish club. The most user friendly iPad wine list I have come across.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular food!Really outstanding food! Great layering of flavors and textures. Well developed and perfectly cooked dishes. The gnocci was our favorite this time around but everything we ate was perfect and delicious!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Happy Adventurous Eaters! The Adventurous Eaters Club was very pleasantly surprise with the widely diverse selection on the menu. However, we didn't even use it. For about $99 a person, we have a Chefs choice tasting that was amazing! This is a do not miss! From Geoduck to Cuddlefish and Bone Marrow everything was amazing!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMSpoon = FantasticGreat experience from the time the hostess opened the door to the time we walked out the front door. We each had the 7 course menu and it was well worth the price. We will definitely return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific add on to DallasTerrific add on to Dallas restaurant scene.
Loved the food and excellent service.
Very creative and every dish hit it just right.
Also priced very reasonably for such a great experience.
John Tesar was in the kitchen the whole time.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFollowing Tesar's career beforeFollowing Tesar's career before and after his stint on Top Chef Seattle, his newest restaurant provided innovative food in a contemporary atmosphere. From the drink menu on an iPad to the, unexpected, pre- and post-dessert desserts, this restaurant is one of a kind in the DFW metroplex. Allow yourself time to sit and fully experience the ambience, and adhere to the suggestions of the staff.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA true star in DallasExcellent service...very knowledgeable and well-trained staff. The food was amazing...the raw scallop or the gnocchi with crab meat apps are not to missed and the cuttle fish entrée is a fantastic.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious New Seafood FlavorsSpoon Bar & Kitchen provided me & my Friends with a brilliant fine dining experience! The amuse-bouche was an exciting rainbow of flavors. We were blown away by the Smoked Swordfish & Fennel Salad, and the Crisp Pork Belly & Scallop Appetiser. We felt like breaking out into spontaneous applause after enjoying the delicious, complex tastes of our entrees: Gnocci w/ Lump Crabmeat, Crisp Halibut w/ Tapenade, and Seared Scallops w/ Peas, Mushrooms, Butter/Fish Stock Sauce. The service was very professional, helpful, and friendly. Don't forget to try the cheese & procuitto bread too. Soup Bar & Kitchen is highly recommended!!!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe 3 of us sat 1 table fromThe 3 of us sat 1 table from the kitchen, and being a Sunday, our waiter commented that Friday and Saturday nights are for amateurs, which I agree. The food was very complex, and it worked. Octopus was amazing, the Fois Gras from Hudson Valley was seared just right to leave the bottom creamy. Had the faux cuttle fish pasta as a Second which was a stand out...had the Char, Halibut and Seafood mix all again excellent - poached then seared. The the desserts were just a excellent with the mixture of crunchy, salty and sweet at the same time for the Corn sorbet with sponge cake, chocolate and popcorn. Will be back as long as my brother is paying as when the bill came the envelope had printed on it "The Damage" which is indeed,in a good way4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience and foodWe had such a great dining experience at Spoon. It was unique and very well done. We started with oysters wich were amazing, very fresh. My wife opted for a half portion of one of the pasta dishes (which was plenty). She got the crab lasagna which was basically a like of crab meat with one homemade noodle on top. It was amazing! I got the halibut off of the simple fish menu which was very well prepared and excellent. We shared a dessert which was a variety of textures of chocolate with caramel ice cream.
Overall, it is pricey but the experience and little unique things they do make it worth it in my opinion. From the sommelier to, the finishing selection of small bites accompanied by the check at the end we were very pleased.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI thought the atmosphere wasI thought the atmosphere was romantic and quiet. And it was definitely worth the wait. We were seated by the open kitchen so we could see all of the action. We decided on the tasting menu so we could try many different menu items. Everything we tried was outstanding. The absolute best dish of the night was the potato gnocchi with lump crab and truffle essence. We told the chef that we wanted that for our dessert course it was that good. 7 course meal turned in to 10 with all of the dessert courses. Dallas has needed a great seafood restaurant for a long time. Wine list is a little limited and pricy. We will be returning soon. There were several other menu choices that we want to try.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMfood outstanding but servicefood outstanding but service continues to be a mess..everytime we are there, it is over 15-20 minutes before cocktails/wine order is taken..forget getting bread, never offered..great place if the floor service could be improved4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest food we have had in DallasBest food we have had in Dallas -EVER! Best in class in service and food.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurantsOne of the best restaurants I've ever visited: greatimaginative food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAll of the 5 star reviewsAll of the 5 star reviews are well founded. Bright white interior. The crunchy amuse bouche sets the tone, wonderful mix of flavor and texture. The oysters recommended by Ben, servicing as bartender and waiter, were superb. No accoutrements needed. Then, on to a fascinating combo of tuna steak with squid ink, topped with the buttery foie gras! Fantastic. The wife's scallops, while very good of course, were not as outstanding. A nice selection of different than the norm wines, with the help of the knowledgable and friendly sommelier, made for an excellent evening. HIGHLY recommend for the special occasion, or when you deserve a splurge.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMINCREDIBLE FOOD!!!!!! SuchINCREDIBLE FOOD!!!!!! Such a diamond. Will refer this place to everyone I know.
Didn't even see it as a seafood restaurant, but more of an artistic over the top menu that tasted as good as it looked, even better!! Not disappointed with anything we ordered. Every choice is excellent.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest seafood in TexasThere are very few places in the United States that have seafood coming our of the kitchen at this high level. The products that Spoon are the best quality available from around the world. Chef John knows what to do with them all. Each ingredient on the plate is there to give taste combinations hard to find anywhere else. New on the menu was a tandon roasted Hamachi and Maine lobster with roasted beets, beet puree, port wine reduction, arugula and beet foam which were outstanding. The first two courses of smoked sturgeon headcheese followed by a surf and turf of Nantucket scallop tartar on top of Texas Kobe with caviar and pomme may have been my favorite course. They have a friendly, knowledgeable staff to guide you through it all.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways good :)Spoon Bar and Kitchen never fails!
