  • "Spoon once again delivers one of the best tasting menus in Dallas and one of the best culinary experiences period. My wife and I have made Spoon our go to restaurant especially when we want to impress and inspire friends or family. This trip delivered and then some. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated like family more than customers. The food was fabulous especially the Scallop and the Artic Chard courses and the service was spot on. "

  • "Another incredible experience. I brought a friend who was visiting from Phoenix and he was absolutely amazed...which is difficult to do. The food, the wine the service and the overall experience was absolutely amazing."

  • "How is this restaurant on every top 10 list in Dallas? It was amazing. At every turn the restaurant delighted us. Whether it was with the amazing food or the fantastic service. There were dishes that literally left me breathless. So good. So so good! No kidding. Go hungry and go adventurous. The sturgeon headcheese was one of the best things I had. Really. And dessert!!!!! Wow. Make your reservations now!"

  • "From the tuna Tatar to mealy heirloom tomatoes to swordfish overcook, the flavor sand selection of ingredient is lacking."

  • "With so much to choose from, we decided the tasting menu gave us the best opportunity to try all that we wanted. We were thrilled with every course and it was easily one of the best meals we've ever had. Absolutely stunning plates of art and flavor. Our service was perfect and it was a well orchestrated ballet of delivery and removal of each course. 5 Stars!"

  • "Food incredible. We shared a number of appetizers and entrees in our party of four. The dessert was a little lackluster compared to the entrees. The drinks were inventive and fun."

  • "The condensation from the cocktail caused a suction from the glass to the marble table top and both my friend and I kept spilling our drink because they stuck to the table. Also the booth was too small for four people. Very awkward dining experience. We had to use our dinner napkins and bread plates for our drinks so they wouldn't stick. Weird . Also my friends highball glass rim was chipped. Waiter replaced it."

  • "First, the service was outstanding. Our server was very attentive and except for a small delay between the fourth and fifth course, the timing of each dish and wine pairing was spot on. We each ordered the chef's tasting menu with win pairings and we both felt halfway happy about the dishes and the wine pairings. The first three courses and pairings were excellent (well, except for the white sherry that was paired with our diver scallop dish; my wife could not drink it and frankly, we both were not sure why they were paired). From there, the pasta dish was very good, but frankly, too much food for a six course meal. The last two fish dishes were prepared well and looked great, but frankly, lacked flavor, needed salt or some other spice."

  • "A mind blowing experience in all respects. Stellar service by knowledgeable professional staff supporting a stunning presentation of fine cuisine artistry. This place easily makes the top 2 Dallas restaurants. The cuisine is genius, fresh, beautiful to look at and amazing for the taste buds. Looking forward to more visits."

  • "We have dined at Spoon twice and on each occasion it was simply fabulous. Intimate booths and knowledgeable staff with a sense of humor makes for a good setting. Each time, the food was prepared perfectly and most of all it was inventive, fresh and delicious. The wine list was not expansive but there were a couple of good selections in each category. Dining here is not inexpensive, but you do get what you pay for in this restaurant."

  • "First time to try Tesar's new spot, and it has firmly landed at the top of our list. Love the service, thanks Mark. And, the menu selections, presentation, and flavors are just top notch. We will come back, and highly recommend."

  • "I have read some great reviews about this place. While the food was good (entrees were the best part, for sure!), the appetizer/salad portions were very small. I get that as Americans we tend to overindulge so I can let the small portion size slide. Especially since the entree portions were totally normal. The servers were nice, although nothing out of the ordinary. Also, the location is not ideal for a fancy place like this. They would be better suited closer to downtown to pick up the businessmen and travelers. Lastly, I think it is pretty overpriced. To pay $40 for entree and $20 appetizers I was expecting a bit more. Overall, I had a nice meal, I just wasn't "wow-ed" ... but I also went in with high expectations."

  • "First the hostess recommended we sit in the back at the "interactive" chef counter =mistake! There was no interaction at all, they barely even looked at us. Plus, the counter wall was too high & there were dishes pilled up...couldn't see anything going on, so I don't even know the point of the chef counter at all. Only "action" we saw was the owner eating off the plates as they were about to go out. ?? The crudo was a rip-off ....you get more w/same or better quality at a 4star sushi restaurant. Dessert was very underwhelming. We WON'T return. Wish we would of just gone to Stephen Pyles or Nick&Sam's!"

  • "The food was excellent when we dined here the other night. The service was a bit lacking in that our server lacked some knowledge of the menu and she spilled my beer as she was pouring it. And the price point was a bit high for this to be anything more than a special occasion restaurant. However, I highly recommend I for that!"

  • "The recent experience at Spoon was amazing. If you want a memorable experience with outstanding food, the Spoon Tasting Menu is phenomenal! The evening was a bit pricey, but well worth the experience."

  • "I found the selection of food at Spoon Bar and Kitchen to be unique. The courses from starter to deserts offered choices not found in many of the restaurants I have eaten at in the Dallas area. The seafood choices were fresh and selections prepared in a manner that made you feel totally satisfied and looking forward to the next course."

  • "I had made this reservation based on a blurp in Texas Monthly. We like to try new/different places and wanted to see if Spoon could live up to all the great Austin restaurants we've been to. IT DOES! Everything about the food was excellent. We ordered appetizers that were to die for. We each ordered the beet salad. YUM. And our main dishes were as beautiful as well as delicious. No room for dessert. The only thing I didn't care for was the seating. A tiny 2 top between 2 other tiny 2 tops...just not my liking. But, that's the only thing I didn't love. We will be going again!"

  • "And the food is outstanding. I got the garden salad thinking at least one course of simplicity, and while it was, even that simplicity was creative and delicious, particularly the spicy greens on the baby carrots and the bloodshot radishes. The scallop appetizer was delicious and prepared perfectly, and the gnocchi which they allowed me to select from the tasting menu was incredible. That all being said, while our server was very good, the front of the house operations seemed a little off kilter and timing was just not what you would expect from this kind of place."

  • "Rainy Tuesday night, still busy (all tables filled). Asked for a booth (had a reservation) and told they were all reserved. Waiter had a strong accent so difficult to understand nuances of the menu (many descriptions needed further discussion). Entire dining experience took 2 1/2 hours (too long - and not due to our indecision or lagging). Man at table next to us actually asked the waiter how many tables he had, because service was slow. This was a special occasion (birthday) so we were willing to spend the extra $ but it was not worth the price. We seem to be in the minority as other reviews were more favorable."

  • "Our choice of crudo sampling was a nice introduction to an all evening fish with 3 different textures: geoduck-firm, ceviche-crunchy, and uni-soft. The addition of trout roe to an already sharp and clean razor clam tartare gave the apetizer another dimension. The tender braised octopus and its mild sauces were a nice composition of mellow flavors (no need of pastrami). Our two entrees were solid with the artic char prepared in japanese style, broth and mushrooms, was lovely, and my favorite of the night, the sturgeon, was a complexe composition of sturgeon, pork belly, poached egg, and caviar. The fish was absolutely perfectly cooked (a rarity in this meat and potato town, no offense): seared on the outside, warm on the inside. Outstanding"

  • "We've had the pleasure of dining here twice, and both occasions were memorable! Ambience is bright and fresh, wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive but never intrusive, and what can I say about the fish except -- everything is wonderful! Dinner at Spoon is more than a meal, its an experience..."

  • "I took my husband here for our Valentine's day date. We both tried the chef tasting available on the menu - and boy was it worth it! Each course was an absolute delight to the taste buds, and visually pleasing. Not only that, but also we left incredibly full and happy. The restaurant is small, which was also very nice. The service was outstanding. It is expensive, but I felt that it was well worth the cost. I highly recommend this restaurant, and hope to go back soon ourselves!"

  • "Hands down the best seafood in Dallas! Amazing, world class and gourmet!! Every entree was heaven in your mouth!! My husband and I went there for Valentine's Day dinner. We had the oysters, king crab, surf and turf, scallops and the white album for desert. The only thing Spoon lacked was ambiance. They don't play any background music.. so it's too quite. It's always nice to set the ambiance with some tasteful, soft tunes in a nice place. Other than that, the place was fabulous! We will definitely be back. ;)"

  • "We loved the food, the service , the place was so different! Really neat place. I don't know where those bad reviews come from. Probably for people that don't like seafood. That's all to get. Amazing seafood. Totally recommend it!"

  • "The food is great for a sensitive pallet. Everything was cooked to perfection with wonderful flavoring that did not overpower the food item. The drinks were very nice as well and the service was good; not great although there seemed to be plenty of staff. They didn't seem to notice when refresh might be required for bread or drinks. The restaurant is small and while the booths for 4 are good, everything else feels a bit crowded. The bar feels excessively large and perhaps a downsize there would make the space more comfortable. Or perhaps a better positioning for the staff would help to avoid the feeling of crowding. It's a great place to go with a group of 4 if you want wonderful fish and seafood."

  • "Our table of 4 had the tasting menu with wine pairing. The entire experience, from start to finish was nothing short of spectacular. This is the kind of dining experience that has found it's way into our top 10 life-time dinners...and that's saying a lot. I rarely go with the wine pairing, but the finesse with which the sommelier selected the pairings was a rare treat...and a delightful education (even for a table of experienced oenophiles). The food was superbly prepared and presented, service was attentive, but not fussy. Spoon is a a new favorite and we are already planning our next visit."

  • "We were excited to go to this restaurant and Tesar was expediting in the kitchen which was cool. Unfortunately it was a cold night and the place was freezing. Each time the door opened a blast of cold air would hit us. Since the maitre'd did not take my coat (although he did for other diners) - I was happy to have it spread across my body while I shivered and waited a long time for each course. We were told 3 times that our entree would be out in a few minutes. My husband pointed this out and they comped an app. I really don't understand the wait as it was not crowded. The table next to us started 10 mins after us and were served 5-10 mins ahead of us.The food was good. My husband liked it more than me. It was hard to enjoy with the cold."

  • "The food was fantastic. We were asked if we wanted to sit at the chef's table, and we would highly recommend it. It's a bar top that backs up against the open kitchen where you can see all the action. The portion sizes are perfect and the presentation is beautiful."
    Dined on 1/24/2014
  • "First of all let me begin by saying that the food was excellent. The service was equally as good but sometimes a little too much. We had a difficult time carrying on conversations for the following reasons: the music was so low you could barely hear it (which usually allows for more privacy when dining in a closed space with tables closely on either side), the two tables on either side were so close that we could hear their conversations so I know they would be able to hear ours, service was great but I'm pretty sure we weren't left alone for more than 5 minutes the entire time we were there."
    Dined on 1/22/2014
  • "I requested a table away from waitstations on reservation. Friends arrive five minutes before us to an almost empty restaurant and the hostess would not seat them. We arrived and the table that they took us to was smack dab in front of a large wait-station. Asked if two tables could be put together in another part of the restaurant and they said no and sat us as close as you could get to the front door. Waitress made numerous mistakes during the meal. Tried to speak with the manager (or so he says he was...lacks in people skills) and he was of no use, though they ended up not charging us for my husbands salad and entree."

  • "I had a very high expectations about this restaurant, having one of the chefs from Top chef shows I was thinking on having a super experience and to be honest the food is good but nothing out of this world , you can find better restaurants on that price range, the design of the restaurant is good because everything looks very clean. They invited us to sit at the bar table in front of the kitchen to see the chefs working but the design is terrible because is way to low so you can't see anything. so be sure to choose a table instead. overall the food and service is good but not that great."
