Diner Reviews
  • "Server picked our course selections according to our needs. Extremely intune and knowledgeable "

  • "I have never had a bad experience here. Visited once again for a special occasion and the four of us had a fabulous tasting menu that consisted of more than 20 small servings each. The food was remarkable, sublime, out of this world and 4 hours later we emerged with an unforgettable memory. Expensive but absolutely worth the price. Splendido stands out with many little touches that put the service beyond anything anywhere else in the city. I only wish that at the end of the evening alongside the good-bye cookies they handed out a menu of all the dishes we tasted as a souvenir."

  • "The 5-course dinner was exceptional - both in taste and presentation Can't wait to go again"

  • "The food and service at Splendido is always off the charts. The eggs/Salmon Benedict was the best I have ever tasted. My husband's croque madam was equally outstanding. The first course was unexpectedly delicious and surprisingly unique for brunch. Well worth the price tag (coffee/tea extra). They also have a children's menu. So we shall return with our offspring."

  • "My girlfriend and I very much enjoyed this restaurant. Definitely great for a special occasion."

  • "My wife and I ordered the tasting menu, and were told that it was a 'blind' tasting menu, so we figured why not leave it to the chef to surprise us. Well, if I wanted to eat 8 of the 10 courses (and I use the term course very lightly) with a spoon... I would have went to Dairy Queen. I found the courses absolutely tiny and pretentious beyond belief.. Not to mention dated. It seemed also there was zero flow to the food, some courses would come out on top of each other- then we'd sit with nothing in front of us for 1/2 hour or so... I love a food adventures, but this was a major let down, the staff were great, the room is beautiful, but the tasting menu was a farce. I was going to order a pizza when I got home, but had no money left."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating a special occasion and Adi and the staff at Splendido went out of there way to accommodate us as we wanted more than the prix fixed menu but didn't have the appetite for a full 12 course tasting so the chef agreed to a 9 course tasting menu that was out of this world. The wine pairings were spot on with the food and the you must try the smoked oyster dish. At no time were we rushed through our courses and when asked for a nice jazz spot to finish of our night Adi had a number of suggestions that turned out to be perfect. All in all I would highly recommend Spendido for a romantic or casual dining experience and look forward to our next visit."

  • "Everything about our evening at Splendido was outstanding! We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and out came plate after plate of interesting and exquisite taste sensations. Each dish was appetizer size, which meant we were treated to a large variety of inventive but delicious offerings. The wine and alcohol pairings were carefully chosen and complemented the meal superbly. The service was excellent, with careful attention to detail. This was a special anniversary dinner for us, and Splendido made it an even more special occasion for us by treating us so well. We've been to Splendido for several special celebrations and will keep coming back!"

  • "Splendido is and always will be the best restaurant in Toronto. We had the winter 10 course menu along with the wine pairing - simply divine. Victor is such a rare talent. Will have to try their weekend Brunch soon!"

  • "Great spot for celebrations. The staff are grade A and the food is divine. Not too thrilled about them changing to a Prix Fixe / Tasting Menu, liked to mix and match, but the dinners are always so divine and they get every detail so perfect that I can't help but come back time and time again. Always a pleasure to introduce new friends to the experience."

  • "Splendido is a must try for anyone in Toronto! The food was great and the portion sizes were more than generous. You definitely do not leave the restaurant hungry. The dishes were creative and full of interesting flavours. I had the regular 5-course tasting menu and the first two dishes (Oyster and Salmon Sashimi) definitely set the tone for whats the come."

  • "It was great. I would have preferred if the menu stated that I was going to be charged $8 for water. Not a big deal, but it was a little annoying to find that at the end of the meal. Nevertheless, it didn't really impact my enjoyment of the meal. I appreciate the efforts made to accommodate vegetarians."

  • "Sharing plates consists of breads, jams and terrines were really good. I had lobster sandwich and bone marrow on the side. My only complaint is the size of bone marrow. Service was friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend."

  • "Five-star ratings are tough to give out but I feel like 4 would not be doing my experience here justice. The place is modern, classy and airy, and without being pretentious. Service was outstanding- right down to the "take-home bag" being stored for us by the door so that we didn't forget it when we left. Brunch starts with "The Spread", which is a wonderful sharing board of terrine, prosciutto, cheese, fantastic home-baked white bread and croissants, etc. You then get to choose your "second course", which in my case was mascarpone-stuffed French toast topped with caramelized banana. Truly decadent. My aunt had the flank steak which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Highly recommended!"

  • "A thoughtful and creative menu that put forth consistently flavourful food. I am a fan of truffle, but was unsure about getting the agnolotti & black truffle supplement. Having eaten recently at Alinea, I did not expect to be impressed by that dish because I've had Grant Achatz' Black Truffle Explosion (don't get me wrong, I love Alinea & Chef Achatz). But I was surprised to find that the agnolotti had better taste and texture than the ravioli in the Alinea dish - and sung splendidly with the truffle. The Homestead Farm's Hen's Egg was probably the one of the most fun and creative dishes I've had with eggs and duck confit (highly recommended). Delightful meal throughout with impressively delicious and well balanced dishes."

  • "Although we've had dinner previously, hubby and I did brunch this time. Great service as always....love the purse stools and wish all restaurants had them! The starting pastries and charcuterie were a very nice starter. Brown butter sauce on the the poached eggs was delicious and the perfect amount. So many restaurants drown eggs in oily hollandaise. Hubby's steak and eggs were perfect. Look forward to returning soon!"

  • "Not much choice - but no choice needed - excellent blend, and perfect portions (5 Course)."

  • "It was a pleasant but really ho-hum experience. Disappointing for a supposedly top-tier restaurant charging top-tier prices. There are better restaurants in Toronto in that tier, and even others who charge less."

  • "We have lived just up the road for years now, and figured we'd better eat here at least once before moving away! The food was excellent, the service outstanding. This was a treat! Although the service was so formal it made me a bit uncomfortable. You just kind of get whatever the chef is cooking that day, which is excellent, and we opted for the wine pairing, but they aren't listed on the menu so the lady comes over and says some stuff to you and it's hard to hear what exactly it is that you're consuming. I think we were supposed to just let the chef give us whatever, pay our 400 dollars and act aloof? Just "ahh, yes, this smoked puree of white stuff goes really well with this wine from somewhere, but whatevs, I eat like this every day.""

  • "One of the few restaurants left for a classic dining out for the evening experience. One of Toronto's great chefs."
    Dined on 1/17/2014
  • "As always, Splendido delivers a great dining experience. First class, attentive service and delicious food, and a great vibe in the room. My only comment would be to let diners know in advance that it is a Prix Fixe menu only. Luckily, they were more than happy to accommodate my wife and her vegetarian needs, as well as my desire for a juicy rib-eye."

  • "#1 Didn't like how the food menu is not given at the same time as the drinks menu, people order drinks based on what they eat. #2 limited menu #3 was looking forward to the seared foie gras but it didn't have much taste and the bread under the foie was super oil #4 overall food was disappointing had so many random things on the plate that people didn't like such as blood sausage and whole piece of fat when it is supposed to be yorkshire pig (only one piece) the rest was not not good #5 bill not incorrect with additional wine I didn't order I have been to splendido for a few times and I liked it before. However, this time was so bad I didn't even want dessert or come back. Quality of food is not good and overpriced"

  • "Went for lunch at Splendito, and while there were only 2 tables occupied, the food and service was amazing. It completely makes up for the disappointing dinner I had there 2 weeks prior. My love is back for Splendito."

  • "From the moment we walked in the door, the service was outstanding. They take your coats, offer a place to put your purse, and escort you to your seats in a timely manner. The flow/communication between servers was fantastic. I have never been so impressed by the level of detail for which they provide their customers, including acknowledgement of any dietary restrictions/allergies (call to reserve and they will ask these details beforehand). We had a wine sommelier consultation, a chef to giving insights, and great/attentive servers throughout the night. Food was fantastic (sashimi to die for, desserts are delicious). Some dishes are a bit salty (agnolotti) but overall quite amazing. The black/white truffles are a must! Amazing experience."

  • "I was recently at this stylish restaurant for an early dinner with my 3 university age kids and I was very impressed. This place struck the right tone starting with the ambience (stylishly decorated, comfortable spacing of tables, dinner-appropriate decibel level), continuing with the staff (attentive service without being overbearing) and all-importantly with the food itself. The food was excellently prepared and artfully presented. The waiters knew their stuff and the sommelier her wines. We had an overall outstanding experience. Congratulations Splendido."

  • "What a difference a few years make! I hadn't dined at Splendido in almost 8 years. At that time, Splendido was consistently excellent in food quality but times have obviously changed. The service is charming and highly attentive if a bit intrusive but the food is distinctly disappointing. I and my guest both had the sea bass which was overdone and its accompaniments were bland and quite unappetizing. The sides of french fries are cooked from frozen and were soggy. As an added note, whatever happened to the valet parking? I don't think I'll return here anytime soon."

  • "Although the service was outstanding and the room is great, the food did not live up to the very high prices. It was 300 plus tip for brunch for four of us, which was only with three alcoholic beverages in total. My eggs benedict was not very appetizing, and though the charcuterie introduction was a nice touch, it's a bit of a production for what is essentially just a charcuterie platter. I'm happy to pay these prices for incredible dining experiences, just unfortunately this wasn't one."
