Splashes at Surf & Sand ResortGreat location, good foodWonderful location on the beach in Laguna. The food is very good, although they change the menu periodically and I miss some of the old menu items. I like their vegetarian Farro Risotto, but I would swear that the portion size has shrunk in the last six months.
The bar is small but is also a good spot for meeting friends, sharing appetizers, or even dining.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSeaside CelebrationMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our wedding anniversary dinner celebration at Splashes. The wine list is extensive, and it offered one of our very favorite and sometimes hard to find wines. Our appetizers and entrees of "Seared Ahi" and "Beef Tenderloin" were delicious and were prepared to our orders. Being able to see and hear the ocean waves breaking right outside our open window added to the romantic ambience of the comfortably decorated dining room. Splashes offers a very unique dining experience for those who would enjoy a seaside flaire to complement delicious meals and outstanding service. Can't get much closer to the ocean, unless you're sitting on the beach. Food is always outstanding. Had some friends in from Oregon and they were thrilled with the ocean views and dolphin watching while dining. They also loved the food - Summer Menu: Mussels with vegetables- a lighter take on mussels meuniere ( use bread to soak up the delicious broth). We also had the new seafood salad with poached seafood which was light & refreshing. I enjoyed the Romaine salad with the add-on of grilled jumbo shrimp. The food was outstanding and the service very attentive and efficient. It was a birthday celebration, and the restaurant gave us a complimentary dessert to share, which was also delicious. We went during the day, for lunch so she could see the ocean and walk to the sand. The restaurant has extremely easy access. We pulled up our car to Valet, walked to the elevator which took us directly to the restaurant. We had in an indoor table with direct view of the water. We had an outdoor view table, which was perfect. But when the sun set I got cold. Our waiter took note of our valet ticket info and within moments my wrap had been retrieved from our car.
