"Our group opted for Spindleshanks after my boyfriend and I raved about our previous experience there. Our first encounter was great -- good, reasonably priced food; great ambiance; good service and a well-priced wine list. Unfortunately, when we headed back with our group our experience was less than stellar. After ordering, they informed us that they were out of a number of items, including baked potatoes (which half of our table ordered). The server was perfectly nice but our order took FOREVER, we didn't get the starter we ordered, our entrees came out at different times, and we ended up with the wrong sides. To top it off, the food wasn't great. All in all, a bit disappointed. Probably won't be back."

"We arrived in Tahoe Vista on Sunday afternoon and did some quick research on where to go for dinner. We realized that up the street was a restaurant we had yet to try and decided after reading positive reviews, to visit Spindleshanks. What a lovely surprise! It was pretty quiet since the skiers had all departed and we had a wonderful meal. The Baked Oysters were a revelation and my husband enjoyed his pork schnitzel. I opted for the appetizer Fried Calamari and Rock Shrimp which was amazing and enough food for several people. The batter was perfect and the seafood tenderly cooked just right. The waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. A thoroughly positive experience."

"The food is quite good, simple old-school stuff but well made; you know, the "surf and turf" and a cesar salad, bread and butter. It's a good place if you want a dumb snowborder server and nothing more then a good, stop, acceptable meal or steak."
