A word from Spina
Spina is a fresh Italian pasta house located in the East Village. Fresh pastas handmade by Blanca Rincon are decadently adorned with sauces and ragus. Small plates focus on Italy's love affair with seafood as well. Sommelier Rob Terek's wine list goes international and local with some expert
…
selections from traditional wine regions as well as the Finger Lakes located in upstate New York.
Spina's brick walled, cozy dining room contains a fresh pasta bar where guests can watch Blanca prepare fresh pasta throughout their dining experience.

I read about Spina on a list of "10 Great NYC Restaurants" and immediately made a reservation. The overall experience did not disappoint. It's all the way over on Ave B, and it's hybrid blend of high-end/casual service reflects that. The food, however, is of a quality you'd see in some of NYC's fancier hoods - UES, Central Park South...with a vibe that brought in a younger crowd looking for a delicious Italian dinner. And, save room for the dessert - the tiramisu is uniquely cakey, the creme brulee is crisp on top and perfect in the middle, and the chocolate souffle will warm every cocoa lover's heart.

Nice ambiance. Small place, quite charming. Good for a group or just a romantic dinner. The food is good although the portions are very small. The pasta dishes while rich are so tiny they are not nearly enough to suffice for a main course. If you have any kind of appetite you definitely have to order an appetizer, pasta dish and also a main course. Considering this, the place is very expensive.

The staff is amazing - very knowledgeable and so friendly. Our reservation was at 8:30, we were seated at 8:50 but it didnt matter because they were so nice about it. Been here before and will absolutely keep coming back.

2nd visit in 2 weeks! Very impressed with the fresh home made pasta and main course menu. Me and my wife and both chosen different dishes on each visit and loved it yet again! Not the biggest of portions which I like as it means you can enjoy your starters without fear and still just about have room for their great Tiramisu!

Had a fun time at brunch. It was really loud because of the large parties and exposed brick. Food was decent, $10 bottles of prosecco was the real selling point.

heard this was a good Italian and pasta place. We ordered four items, 1 was delicious (lamb chops and risotto), 1 was okay (pasta with a bolognese like sauce), 2 were pretty bad (endive salad didn't have much endive in it; seafood pasta which was barely warm)...
I would not come here again...

The pasta is the thing here. As good as you are going to find. But, the portions are pretty small. I had an appetizer, a salad and the fettuccine. Still went home hungry, and I am not a big eater. Total per person was about $64 with one glass of wine.
