Service, presentation, and the table-side finishing touches and explanation of the dishes were the strongest points. The food itself ranged from good to great, but I was definitely more impressed with the presentation and plating than the food itself. They were out of several menu items on a Friday evening, and they offered no warning, so at several points we had to stop during ordering and pick different selections. Also, this is a casual place located next to a $5 pizza buffet in a suburban strip mall - commenting on someone wearing flip flops is rude and obnoxious.

This is a fun place with great food at a decent price. If you are looking for traditional Thai food then go elsewhere, but if you are looking for delicious Asian fusion cuisine then this is the place for you. The plates are intended for sharing although you can get your own dishes. The Lamb on the current menu is to die for. The Duck confit is also very good. Many dishes pack some heat and several items are also available gluten free. The dishes are also heavy on the meat with veggies; if you are looking for a high carb meal then this probably isn't the right place for you; although you can get a side of rice with anything.

We have eaten here multiple times and it is still great. They have changed the menu a little since our last visit and we found some new favorites...Salmon Takat (no sure of spelling) and the Quail. Our favorites are the pumpkin starter and the chicken starter and the Tiger's Cry and beef dish. This place is a gem in the food void known as Cedar Park.

All the dishes we tried were delicious. The food is an updated take on traditional Thai flavors. The Salmon Tataki and Tiger Cry were both fresh and delicious. The Clay Pot Brussels were very good too. They're served in a hot clay pot and are mixed tableside with noodles, egg, and vegetables. The Rib Ping didn't have much of a Thai influence to the flavors. My favorite was the tempura Soft Shell Crab dish, which reminded me a lot of a fried fish dish I had during a recent trip to Thailand. Service was very friendly and attentive. One minor gripe: there were no blinds on the windows, so half of our table had the sun in their eyes until it went behind a building, but this wasn't a big deal. I'm sure they would've moved us if we asked.

This place was awesome! What a surprise so up north in Cedar Park! The owners were proud of their product, the servers did their best to take you on a epicurean journey when they delivered each dish, and explained how it all worked very well. We had the Taro root appetizer (tasty!), then the Duck Wing taster- SO delicious, I'm a big fan of duck, then the softshell crab in panko-- this was SO SPICY, I haven't had something that actually knocked me off my feet with spice but wow, it did and I love spicy, so beware! It is DELICIOUS though omgosh!!! And then to finish it off we had the Coconut Panna Cotta-- WOW. Just try this please, it's absolutely a delight, so mellow, creamy, wonderful. I also had the wine from South Africa- it was alright.

I highly recommend SPIN. Their fusion style is not a gimmick. Their food is creative and delicious, a fresh take on a Thai cuisine that can be predictable, if still delicious. Our waitress was very helpful and attentive. This is also a great spot for gluten-free dining.

Not sure the menu change from my earlier visit was for the better. Seems to be fewer things I'd care to order. Portion sizes seem to be smaller vs. price -- like, now Uchi-sized. For example, the meat skewers and the full Spin items were okay, but I don't need to order them again. The corn tempura is still very good.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 2/7/2013
Spin is an up-and-coming Thai restaurant located near Lakeline mall. While it is not exactly fusion, many of the things on the menu are Thai dishes with a "spin." I enjoyed the Tiger's Cry dish most; it is similar to beef carpaccio but with Thai flavors (ie. Thai chili, fish sauce, lime). Another one of my favorite dishes was the clay pot shrimp. It comes in a heated clay pot which cooks the contents right in front of you. The waiter cracked a raw egg into the glass noodles, shrimp and smoked bacon and the heat from the pot cooked the egg. The result was delicious. One thing to note is that anything with a chili next to it will be very spicy, even if it is just one chili.

Great atmosphere. The clay pot shrimp and the corn fritter are both must-taste items. Lots of wonderful variety in beef, seafood, and even vegetarian options. Very reminiscent of other great Austin eateries Uchi and Uchiko - but in some ways tastier and definitely more affordable. Don't let the odd location keep you from discovering this one!

Dinner was very goood and our waitress, despite being very busy, took time to fully explain the menu and every course when it came out. The only problem was with my dinnerr course that was suppose to be only 1 chile in hotness, I could not eat it because of the heat. I was a little disappointed that they did not offer to change it out for me.

Overall we were pleased to find this place in our part of town and we are happy to report that the food was creative and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was fairly informal....almost too much so for dinner. I thought the tables (for 2) were a little too small and the decor was minimalist and seemed to lack a theme. But the value factor was very good so we can't complain too much. Will definitely go back for the food.

    Dined on 1/2/2013
Spin's take on Thai cuisine is consistently tasty, and it is nice to have an alternative to the more straightforward noodle house. If you enjoy experimenting or have an adventurous palette, you will likely appreciate Spin. Be prepared...the dishes are not terribly kid friendly, so make this a date night stop rather than family dining experience. Try the vanilla ginger lemonade! Our server took a while to warm up to us--the secondary server was warmer and more accommodating. But all of our orders were correct and everything was brought out promptly. In the end, we enjoyed it, but are unsure that the value for the price tag was completely worthwhile. The entrees especially feel as though they are priced $2-4 over what they merit

Service was very slow. Our drinks did not come until half way from receiving our food. Our food came out one plate at a time resulting in our group of 8 not even having food at the same time. Never did receive the wine we ordered. Saw was noted as kid friendly when deciding when to go. We brought our three children in hopes of finding a new restaurant. If you mean kid friendly as in loud and thus drounding out the noise from kids then yes it is kid friendly. But there were few items available even for our foodie kids tastes. The green papaya salad was so spicey and strong fish sauce flavor it was difficult to even taste the rest of the food we did order. We will not be coming back.

Fantastic food. Preparations were always at or near perfect. The only small issues is the timing of the dish delivery. As such expect to share what you order with your table mates. All in all a very very good place. I would recommend this highly. One other thing, when they mean spicy they are serious. Not 'murica spicy levels.

The food was well presented. Really enjoyed the Sweet Corn Taro Tempura and the Moo Ping - though the fish sauce on the Moo Ping was a bit strong. Panang Curry Alfredo - much too peppery. The flavors of the dish were totally masked by the pepper. I like spicy foods but all I could taste was pepper. A hint would have made this dish much better. Tom Yum Salmon - fellow diner enjoyed this immensely. Pad Cha Soft Shell Crab - fellow diner also said the pepper spices masked the flavors of the dish. Would not order again. The service was attentive, but the waitress forgot our desserts, which when discovered, were quickly comped. We didn't care for either the panna cotta or the fried ice cream. Nothing exciting.

Ate dinner here days ago and cannot stop talking about how amazing this place is! Seriously, the best meal my husband and I have had in years. We had: Moo ping appetizer - pork swekers with just the right amount of spice. Could have ate 100 of these! Lin Wau - this is beef tongue and it melts in your mouth! The chef said they slowly cook this meat for 14 hours! I was a little afraid to try this, but SO glad I did but it is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Baby Octopus Yaan - Delicous salad with perfect sweet and sour tang. The chef said they have the organic octopus flown in fresh a few times a week and cook it over Japanese coals to give it the flavor. So good! Panang Curry Fettuccine - Perfect amount of heat

My friends and I were very excited to eat at SPIN last weekend. We made reservations that morning and were sat immediately upon arrival. You could tell that this was a new and hip spot due to the clientele that were seated. The service was fair and the food presentation was great. The only negative thing that I can say is that all of the food that I tasted was very salty. I could certainly tell that this was a new restaurant that is still trying to figure things out. We still managed to have a good time and may return further down the road after it has been open for some time.
