Spill the Wine is recently re-located to the Uptown, Lynn Lake neighborhood! Recently voted best wine bar in Minneapolis/St.Paul magazine, we offer a New American small plates inspired menu. Our wine list has a regional focus with over 30 by the glass options and several wine flights to try each month.

  • "We went for my sister in-laws birthday. We had wine, appetizers and desserts! Our server was very patient, helpful, and attending. She lead us in the right direction for wine and food. We had a great time and enjoyed everything from food to service. Will definitely be back!"

  • "We have been to Spill the Wine a couple times in the past, and they are chronically understaffed. This time was no exception. My water was never refilled, my food was not served as ordered, what I did receive was tasteless (literally tasteless, and I don't understand how that is even possible given it had peppers in it), and the rest of my group had a similar experience. The best thing I can say is that some of the food our group received was good. It's a gamble here, and we won't be back to roll the dice again."

  • "Food was good, odd menu though. Unfortunately this came with the price of really bad service. Every thing seemed to take way longer than necessary and they weren't that busy. Glasses would be empty for 10-15 minutes without the server coming by - it would take arm waving to get anything more."

  • "We had the fried stuffed olives and the baked bruschetta with proscuitto and arugula which were tasty. There were only four entree selections - three with meat and fries, and a crab BLT. Would love to see some fish (that isn't breaded so heavily you can't taste the fish, which is what we experienced on our first visit). I want to love this place! It's right in the neighborhood and has a good atmosphere, but with all the great foodie places around, they could really stand to serve a little more variety, especially fresh fish or veggies."

  • "Took our daughter their for her birthday for brunch and was terrible disappointed. Three of us ordered frittatas and all three were over done, dry and tasteless. I would not recommend this plus they were out of somethings which seems strange being that they only have brunch on Sundays."

  • "We went to Spill the Wine for the 5 course Chef's tasting menu. Each course was delicious and went well with the wine flights that accompany it. Our server suggested ordering a glass of wine to go with the cheese course because the three wines on the flights pair best with the other courses. We were able to go at our own pace, never felt rushed. Really excellent service. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience."

  • "Had never tried this place before. Spent 55$ on a living social deal that included a 5-course small-plate tasting for two with wine flights. Hostess left something to be desired, but our server, Carly, was AWESOME. Loved the food, loved the wine. Highly recommend!!!"

  • "We arrived with a reservation on saturday for brunch, the arrangements were made and seating was no problem at all. While we were ordering were informed of many items which were suddenly stricken from the menu, mostly the meat choices. The waitress was really sweet and very nice, but we kept getting mix ups with the drinks, the orders and especially the timing of the food coming out. Overall we decided we'd probably come back for drinks but will skip the food."

  • "First thing that you experience here is the friendliness of the staff. Seems they really make everyone feel at home. The menu is composed of a whole bunch of small plates and four large plates. We had a chefs tasting menu and were extremely pleased by the choices and quality of the food. They have an ever changing well thought out wine list which also offers 3 flights. It seemed to me the flights were paired to match the food. This is certainly a keeper and will make for a nice night out without cleaning out your wallet."

  • "Finding a restaurant that is open late with a full menu and great food is sometimes difficult. We love coming to Spill the Wine because we know we can always find these things. This time we had bought a Living Social coupon and received a great dinner, great service and had a very enjoyable evening. The polenta with lamb was so good!"

  • "Something that we look for when dining out is value for price paid. This was not the case at "Spill the Wine". We had wanted to try this place for some time and purchased an online coupon. We arrived during happy hour but coupons are not accepted for happy hour offerings. What happened was that had we not had the coupon we could have enjoyed a bottle of wine and small plates for much less than we paid for our meal and two glasses of wine. It is not a cozy place - it is quite stark with metal tables and chairs and a cement floor. Granted, it was a very cold night but it was very chilly in the restaurant and we needed to keep our coats over our shoulders. Their mussels were disappointing - very tiny. Good flatbread and nice salad."

  • "Having been to the Washington Ave location of Spill the Wine, I was excited to try the new uptown location. Our table was nice and the staff friendly, but the food itself was quite disappointing. The appetizer tasted like it had been cooked previously and left under a warming lamp too long. The salad was 2 leafs of lettuce and could have been a garnish it was so small. I had salmon which was tasty, but others who chose the beef ribs were completely disappointed. The meat was grey, fatty, and served with unremarkable potato mash. The meat had an odd vinegar flavor as well, that wasn't balanced by any spice or sweet. I hope our experience was atypical, as this town has too many good choices for mediocre to survive."

  • "Spill the Wine was wonderful. When I go to restaurants the first thing I judge it on is the ambiance and Spill the Wine was very inviting, warm and comfortable. Our waiter was very helpful with providing suggestions for the food and wine, checked-in with us enough, but wasn't overbearing and overall the entire staff was very welcoming and kind. The food selection was unique with some great dishes to share and try. Instead of ordering entrees, my friend and I shared their small plates and it was a better option to get a taste of the variety they had on their menu. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely be returning."

  • "I went to Spill the Wine for lunch on a very frigid (even for Minnesota) day. The restaurant was not very busy (this was a Monday), so the server was friendly, available, personable, knowledgeable, professional and attentive (or, ALL my favorite things). I'm a bit of a wine-snob who complicates things for restaurants by becoming bored quickly and always looking for new things. My server rose to the challenge by recommending a nice blend that pleased my palate and compelled me to quickly order another. The selection of small plates offered (a favorite strategy of mine to try multiple options) was impressive. I ordered their "Octopus" (which was sautéed but NOT fried, thank Squid). It was great, as were the roasted beets. Go there!"

  • "We tried to go to Spill the Wine last summer, but because of storms, it left the restaurant with no power. We finally got another chance to go. Our waiter was quite knowledgeable about the different wines and we ordered a bunch of tapas to share. Everything was delicious. The only two things I didn't like: where we were seated since I made a reservation (right by the cold door opening and closing!) and the fact that they don't have much parking in the back, plus it was a snow emergency so I had to park a few blocks away. Overall, I would definitely go back. Maybe in the summer would be perfect. :)"

  • "The service was okay. I went with my girlfriend and had made reservations 1 week in advance. The wait staff put us too close to the door and whenever anyone came or left we were blasted with cold. This made for a very unpleasant experience. The food was good but by the time we were starting to eating it, it was cold because of such heavy traffic in and out. I have been to this restaurant before but I won't be going back until it gets warmer outside or the establishment puts a better buffer between the restaurant seating and the door."

  • "Great food. Friendly, helpful service. The small plates are the way to go for adventurous eaters and foodies. Plan for about two per person and shae. The Brussel sprouts hash and skillet bread were our favorites. The skillet bread had prosciutto, arugula, and gruyere and was very hearty. The picky eaters in our group of 9 stuck to the "big plates", of which there were only 4. The creative handling for the big plates made the picky eaters nervous but they were all very happy in the end. The pickiest should go for the pulled pork sandwich, which was very basic but still as good as you'll find. Wine list had a great selection of modestly priced wines by the glass. Only one small complaint was that it was rather loud."

We tried the two scrambles and the eggs Bennie.Every thing was hot, well seasoned and delivered as the menu promised. The Peach Mimosa and Bloody Mary's were great.   • "Went here for their prix fixe New Year's Eve dinner (four courses with wine pairings). The food overall was very good, as were the wines that were paired with them. We had soup, a couple salads, scallops, brisket and tres leches for dessert. Every course was spot on. The wines ranged from fine/good to great. Prix fixe can be iffy on a night like this but the food, for the most part, came quickly but was never rushed. We didn't always get an overview of the food or - more importantly - wine when it was dropped off, but our server was knowledgeable when we asked what we had. Overall, a great NYE dinner. I'd love to go back for the wine flights."
