A word from Spigolo
Spigolo is an Italian-inspired restaurant on the Upper East Side of New York City. Opened in January 2005, Spigolo has gained acclaim from both devoted customers and restaurant critics. Influenced by his masterful incorporation of seasonal ingredients, Joseph D'Angelo's menu represents a culinary union of contemporary American cooking and traditional Italian cuisine. Spigolo is known as much for its warm, intimate atmosphere and its welcoming staff devoted to attentive service and genuine hospitality, as it is for its food. Diner Reviews
  • "This is a real italian Food, is like you were in a Trattoria in Florence"

  • "My 1st time since the move to 76th. Fell in love with this restaurant when it was on 81st but they changed the menu and I'm not so in love any longer. Service was not that great and although my cavatelli was tasty it was a bit too salty. Like the new space but again, not all that bigger."

  • "Preferred the old location. Lost it's quiet ambiance. still good but expensive for tables that are too Close together and an extremely casual atmosphere."

  • "Great menu that changes seasonally. The restaurant recently moved to a larger space, which is a little less intimate than the original space. While the ambiance is just ok, the food & service makes up for that. It's a true neighborhood gem that stands out from all the other italian restaurants on the UES."

  • "My husband and I had a special tasting menu and it was innovative, delicious, and very satisfying. The service was also excellent. Spigolo stands out in a crowded field of UES Italian restaurants!"

  • "Delicious food! Great wine list. Bravo. So happy about the move closer to my apt!!"

  • "We were not overwhelmed by this new incarnation of Spigolo, which used to be delicious before the old location closed down. While the food is okay, there are better Italian restaurants in the neighborhood at a much better price. They charged $15 for a martini ($11 for the gin and $4 for the "martini"), which I had ordered on the rocks. When I complained, they rolled the price back to $11, saying they thought it was straight up and they charge more for that because there is more gin. I guess I buy their explanation, but, given the very high prices for their food, we won't be going back."

  • "Excellent Italian inspired food. We sat at the bar this time and had a wonderful meal and really enjoyed speaking about wine with the bartender."

  • "We needed a great restaurant on 2nd Ave, below 79th St; we now have Spigolo! Great bar & fabulous food . Everyone works as a team to bring a wonderful dining experience to each table. Looking forward to getting back there very soon. Welcome to the neighborhood!"

  • "They've just changed locations, which is always scary. But they've recreated the same ambiance. The food remains superb. And the service was amazing. Although they were jammed on a Friday night, somehow our wine glasses never got empty before they were refilled. With 10,000 good Italian restaurants on the Upper East Side, this is still my go-to place."

  • "I had heard that this restaurant was very good, but I found it to be mediocre. maybe my expectations were too high, but there was nothing to distinguish this Italian restaurant from the many others in the area. The pasta dish I had was nothing special."

  • "Service and food were top notch. Had wanted to try me since they were farther uptown nut now that they're across the street I will definitely be back."

  • "The intimacy of Spigolo is somewhat lost in its new space, which is somewhat larger and a bit sterile & cold. But the food has remained consistent and delicious. And the servers are engaging and knowledgeable.Overall, a very nice UES dining experience."

  • "In a neighborhood filled with over priced mediocre Italian offshoots of Elaine's Spigolo stands out. Excellent, creative cooking, pleasant service and an unfussy casual vibe,"
    Dined on 1/20/2014
  • "The new space is very nice - at least double in size - and the food was great. Fair warning - it gets quite loud in there when all the closely packed tables are full during the prime dining hours."

  • "Off to a great start for a newly opened restaurant. Food was very good but needs more ambiance."

  • "Excellent food. Tables are small, close together, a bit cramped. Very good food, but definitely overpriced. Restaurant neglected to mention that they had recently moved and address in Zagat's was incorrect."

  • "Great food, friendly & excellent service, easy cab ride to Lincoln Ctr. Recommend this restaurant for dinner. Price is fair, but it gets up there if you order every component."

  • "My wife and I had dinner there on New Year's Eve. We had a nice table next to the window. This was our first time there. The restaurant was quite empty. The food was good but not special. We had heard from our friends that they liked the food in this restaurant. We were expecting more than we found. The service was very good. The mood of this restaurant was flat. No joy where there should been for New Year's Eve."

  • "My husband and I left this restaurant hungry after ordering two appetizers and 2 main courses. When my dinner came I thought it could have been appetizer portion until the bill came. Not at all worth the money we were disappointed after hearing good things about this place"

  • "my husband and i brought our 4 children (8 and under) to the city for the weekend. we were lucky enough to have someone watch them so that we could go to dinner. we ended up here because we heard the food was good. i read some reviews that stated that the service wad just okay at best. this was not at all the case. everyone was so kind and attentive. our server was really helpful and pointed us in the right direction for all the plates and wine that we ordered. I would go back again in a heartbeat!!"

  • "Sensational, delicious food. Really enjoyed all of it. Wasn't thrilled with the table they gave us. Especially since there were other options. It's a small place but it was early and there was plenty of other options. Almost a deal breaker, but glad I stayed since the food was so good."

  • "Had not been here in a while and went on a whim on a cold night. Table was a little drafty but everything else was superb in an understated way. Hopefully new location will be more comfortable. Great service, professional, not pushy - great ingredients prepared with taste."

  • "We live in the neighborhood, tried Spigolo once before, and enjoyed it. Took a friend for dinner who was running the NYC marathon the next day. Superb service - polite and attentive, with waitress working closely with support team providing dishes, cleaning up, etc. Three of us ordered, among other things, eggplant meatballs with zucchini - I want this again; 3 main dishes: gnocchi, fettuccine with mushroom, and vongole linguine. I had bites of each - all delicious. Ordered one more pasta dish which we split to carb up - spectators need pasta too! All pasta dishes we ordered were full sized and ample. I mention that because they also have half sized dishes, a good idea. We were three happy campers."

  • "Had an excellent dinner. Spigolo is tiny and very popular therefore a very tough reservation. Hopefully moving to new bigger premises will ease the problem. Otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience."

  • "The pastas are very creative and fit for foodies. I had the soft shells because I had to have one last shot at them this summer and they were perfectly done, albeit a bit small for the money."
