SpigoloI had a great bowl of pastaI had a great bowl of pasta there, wonderful gravy, perfectly al dente penne. Service is extremely friendly and attentive.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice meal, until...We were a party of four and enjoying our meal a great deal. The whole experience was kind of ruined though at the end when, barely 5 minutes after we finished our coffee, the hostess came to our table and asked us to leave because she had another party waiting. The restaurant was full, but there was only one party waiting. Very bad form, and we probably won't go back.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMStaff was vry accommodatingStaff was vry accommodating when we added a person. Portions are smaller than other places which I liked. Delicious preparations.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSpigolo rocksA bright spot on the upper east side. Try the pappardelle with duck confit.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been dining at SpigoloI have been dining at Spigolo since it opened under the Frantangelos. Over the past few months, after a new chef took over, I have found the food to be over-salted. I am disappointed.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe live in the neighborhoodWe live in the neighborhood and have eaten at Spigolo several times
It is never disappointing. The food recently was excellent- wine list is good and the prices are pretty reasonable. overall a delicious meal.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMPasta was good, salad andPasta was good, salad and desert were outstanding.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMwe met friends for dinnerwe met friends for dinner near their apartment on the UES; inconvenient for us coming by train into Penn Station. we ate early so the small space with hard surfaces never became noisy since most table were still not occupied. The service was fine since I had no requests. My husband needed a bread refill and there was no offer after our main course was served; he was disappointed not to be able to mop up his pasta sauce. On the positive side, the food was very well prepared and I liked the fact that pasta could be ordered in half portion size. The prices for a basically neighborhood store front are kind of high. However, if I lived in the neighborhood I would return.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSpigolo is an excellent restaurant.Spigolo is an excellent restaurant. I don't give it five stars only because it is not as lavish or elaborate as NYs more upscale restaurants, but the food is impeccable here. Delicious sliced, cured meats, meltingly tender pastas and gnocchi, perfectly cooked fish, beautiful vegetables. Terrific cocktails as well. This place is a gem.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and very nice staff.Great food and very nice staff. Everything I ate was wonderful: baked clams, pasta with fennel ragu and the steak. I will definitely return.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good and interestingVery good and interesting food. Will definitely go back.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOn the recommendation of aOn the recommendation of a friend, I thought I'd try this place after a late afternoon visit to the Metropolitan Museum and Neue Galerie. The decor and cordiality of the staff immediately impressed me and the menu certainly appealed. Spigolo did not disappoint. The plates were superbly presented, the service was perfectly attentive and the food was exquisite. One minor fault, not unique to this place, drinks and wine are overpriced, but I will definitely want to return.
