Diner Reviews
  • "We've been to Spiedo's on several occasions and always left satisfied. This time, I was a little disappointed. The Minestrone was not, the content of the drinks we ordered were hidden under the ice cubes and the waiters seemed to be afraid to approach us. I'm going to try it again. Maybe it was just me."

  • "There was hardly anyone eating on a Friday evening around 7 and there was a 45 minute wait between our appetizer and entre'."

  • "Went on Friday night for my daughter's birthday. Had reservations and were seated immediately. Wonderful service, not rushing you which I so appreciate. Food was great. I had the nightly special of Osso Bucco which was very flavorful and fell off the bone. My boyfriend helped himself to the marrow from my bones. My daughter had pesto gnocchi which was awesome. I am a gnocchi snob and they were like little fluffy pillows. Love the Spiedo salad !! Great wine selection. Had a variety of desserts which we all enjoyed. "

  • "I took my mom and my friend here for Mother's Day and it was a fabulous experience! The waitress was phenomenal. There was a special Mother's Day menu and I asked the waitress if I could get olive oil on my pasta instead of the pre-assigned sauce because I can't eat dairy. She got me the pasta (with the chicken and peas) in olive oil and had garlic added. She was very nice. My friend had the dish as it was supposed to be and it was also delicious. My mom had the cannelloni and loved it. The food was amazing (dinners, desserts, bread) and the atmosphere was great. I hadn't been here since 2008 and it's improved a lot and is now a new restaurant I'll be eating at regularly. "

  • "I would recommend on the basis of the food, but the service was sorely lacking!"

  • "We had a great girls meal here, 8 of us around 2 tables and we were able to catch up since there was no other noise. Was mystified as to why Spiedo wasn't busier, it was really quiet in there. The food was excellent, everyone of us loved what we ate from Cornish game hen, to pizza. Plus the kitchen accommodated a request not on the menu which was a hit so should be on the menu. The wait staff were attentive, but not intrusive, so overall a good experience. "

  • "Great food, service and atmosphere. My 6yr old daughter had a delicious kids meal with grilled chicken. My girlfriend and I had wonderful meals as well. Our server made great suggestions, was attentive but not intrusive. Would highly recommend!"

  • "Showed up on a quiet Sunday afternoon and sat on the deck. The menu was unremarkable but traditional. We started with the carpaccio which was okay. Good portion size but nothing special. Could have used a bit more arugula honestly. I had the Saltimbucca, she had the Fettuccine. Both needed salt but the port wine sauce on mine was pretty good."

  • "As always, a great place. Good food, very reasonable pricing. And great service."

  • "people were very nice, food was really bad. order Filet mignon ($30!) medium rare. it came well done. it took them 25 minutes to bring another one and it looked and tasted like Salisbury steak from an old tv dinner. Bleh."

  • "This was a Valentines dinner with my wife. Their service was disorganized ...probably due to the large volume of people celebrating Valentines dinner. The food was good but when the bill came they charged me for the salad that I did not get.The waitress was very nice and tried to be accommodating but after the no salad and then being charged for it left a bad feeling for us. We finally go it all straightened out but it was a bit of a hassle and not what we had hoped for on Valentines Day. Moral of the story it is a nice place to go if they are not busy but I would think twice about going there when they are likely to be busy."

  • "I've eaten here before for lunch, it wasn't valentines dinner of course but the food was excellent and you felt like you get what you paid for and the service was great. I expected much the same during my reservation for Valentines Evening. However, my girlfriend and I were disappointed in our food that evening despite ordering a little bit of everything on the menu. The staff however were just as impeccable as ever and service was prompt, polite, and attentive."

  • "The food is good and hearty, and the place is reminiscent of a 60's restaurant. We went on a week night. The place was quiet' and the service was good. This could become a regular if you like hearty Italian food at a reasonable price."

  • "Spiedo sounds like Speedo....either way, I would not eat it! Poor management of the restaurant. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation only to run into the folks waiting for their 6:30 and 7:00 reservations and fighting over tables. The hostess did little except whine over how busy it was."
    Dined on 12/25/2013
  • "They overbooked or did not pay attention to the reservations they had. Took an hour to get seated and then the service was slow and not at all courteous."

  • "This place was a madhouse on Christmas night. In spite of our reservations, the line was out on the sidewalk, the hostess was frantic and disorganized, allowing late arrivals to enter ahead of other people with reservations who had been waiting in line. My son and I finally left and ate at a Chinese restaurant. I'll never return to Speedos. Bah humbug."

  • "There were not a lot of choices for Christmas dinner and chose Spiedo because it has a great reputation. Even with a 6:30 reservation, it took 15 minutes to check-in There was a crowd out the door. When finally seated, we were greeted by a very nice, yet exhausted server. There were some foods no longer available from the fixed menu and were also told when we asked for more bread, that we had the last of it. It seemed that the restaurant was not prepared for the onslaught, and/or they overbooked. At any rate, the dinner was nice and the food good. I did not have high expectations for a holiday meal, so I was not disappointed."

  • "There were 6 of us who ate dinner on Saturday night, early, before a movie. We arrived at 5pm and the restaurant was nice and quiet. We hadn't been in years since we moved from the area and didn't have high expectations -- we were pleasantly surprised! The men all had the ossobuco special -- it melted off the bone. Bread was nice and warm. My sausage pasta dish was flavorful and cooked al dente plus served really hot. The other ladies had the shrimp risotto and really enjoyed it. Nice meal! We would have loved to have sat in a booth but other larger parties had those or smaller parties of 4. Oh well... really enjoyable though!"

  • "We had the mussels and clams for appetizer. We loved how fresh they were and the sauce was so good that we soaked up everything with the bread! The roast duck special was amazing and the portion was large. Pasta was equally tasty. The service was still good eventhough they had two holiday parties in the main dining area. I will definitely will be back."

  • "Horrible Thanksgiving Turkey Dinner they served - should have ordered off regular menu - bad turkey and trimming!!!!!"

  • "Spiedo has great and great service. The antipasto platter was delicious, rabbit cooked to perfection and the veal was very flavorful."
    Dined on 8/3/2013
  • "I am a little bit disappointed with the entrees...we ordered 7 different entrees for 7 people and all of the entrees are not as good as it should be. The duck/lamb chop were too dry, and the truffle pasta had no taste. The pizza and the appetizers were good though."

  • "Seafood was fresh and oh so flavorful! I know I'll be back, just for that. At 1530 on a weekday, blessedly quiet. So if you like seafood and hate noise, this is it."
    Dined on 4/24/2013
  • "food was good, but too expensive for lunch. Need to broaden their lunch menu for less expensive options than the regular price. I think this is why it is so quiet during the day."
    Dined on 4/16/2013
  • "The food is nothing to get excited about but the staff is very nice and service was good. The best thing about Spiedo is that it is not at all crowded, so it is great for being able to talk during the meal."

  • "Food was good but nothing to rave over. Dessert were just plain boring. Would recommend for a quick bit but nothing fancy."
    Dined on 3/24/2013
  • "Food is consistently good, but they use the same sides (mashed potatoes and steamed veggies) for almost all of their entrees. Frequent diners will long for variation. The fish portion was very small (I almost sent it back but didn't want to make a scene in front of my guests.) Always friendly."
    Dined on 3/1/2013
  • "staff seemed a bit unprepared for Valentine's Day volume. service was slow and not as friendly as before."
    Dined on 2/14/2013
  • "Whereas the wait staff was really friendly and efficient, the food just wasn't very good. My fish was mushy, my daughter's filet was under cooked and my husband's salmon had a red sauce on it that was not expected (grilled salmon)."
    Dined on 2/9/2013
  • "Menu is misleading "housemade" does not mean "homemade" or "fresh". Gnocchi is "housemade" not "homemade" or "fresh". To the waiters credit he did tell us when we asked."
    Dined on 2/6/2013
  • "This used to be a hot place but isn't now.I hadn't been in a couple of years & was disappointed that the food is old fashioned. I had the clams vongole which was wonderful, a friend had the linguini with seafood which he loved but the others-ravioli & duck were just so-so. I think they need a new, hip chef. The place is good looking but there were at the most 20 people eating there on a Friday night."

  • "The wait staff was very attentive. One of the men spoke some Italian. It was nice because it felt so authentic."

  • "We didn't feel like cooking on Christmas evening, so we ended up at Spiedo. Our party of six ordered the bruschetta, 2 soup & salads, 2 turkey dinners, and 2 lasagne plates. An hour later, after threatening to leave, the two salads arrive. *FIFTEEN* minutes later, we get the turkey dinners, minus the mashed potatoes and gravy that was supposed to be included, according to the menu. The manager delivers the last two dinners. He put some french fries on the table and said they ran out of mashed potatoes and for us to enjoy the fries. We finally were able to get the missing items issue solved, but the wait time was unacceptable. The fact that they did not address it immediately was unprofessional."

  • "We had a wonderful time and although they were busy we did not feel pressured to leave our family reunion. Great service and very good food."
