Thank you, Spice Symphony for an

Perhaps the choice for this
restaurant wasn't the best suited for our party on this particular night - we had just finished working out and were starving. Was excited about the menu - was provided a small amuse bouche which we devoured and then sipped on our water for probably 45 minutes wondering where our food was. When our food finally arrived it was delicious. I understand it takes a while to cook, but with other places being faster, it may be hard to compete in my mind and the slow speed would just be the reason I wouldn't make it my first pick. But if you're willing to wait, I'd definitely recommend it. Desserts were also delicious with a good selection."

We were amazed at the fantastic
food, superb service, and the overall experience. We dine frequently at Indian restaurants in NY, Chicago, London and elsewhere. This it well over the top. Their samoza was the best I have ever had, including ones straight from a bakery in Nairobi, Kenya. There will be stars in the future for this amazing place and its chef and staff. Kudos to all."

My partner and i have been to this
restaurant twice now, and we have been so impressed with the quality anf taste of the food. We particularly enjoy the indochinese food which is harder to find than punjabi food and so delicious. I lived in india for 6 months and this is the only place i have found with indochinese food that really lives up to what it should be!!!!! Thanks spice symphony!!!"

Choice was good, typical Indian,
fresh naan bread. Only two minor cons - the chicken didn't seen to be full breast (a bit tough) and the restaurant was very cold. However we would go back"
Dined on 2/8/2014
My friend and I asked the server
for recommendations and we were so pleased -- avocado chicken was delicious. The service was wonderful. We'll be back."
Dined on 2/7/2014
Food is very good. On this
evening, however, service was only fair. It took over 20 minutes for someone to come over to take our order. Also, the restaurant was quite cold and drafty. We ate with our hats and scarves on. That being said, it has an interesting menu, and all of our dishes were quite good, so will probably give it another try."

Must get Samosas Chaat. We dubbed
them Indian nachos. Potato samosas covered with tamarind sauce, yogurt, tomatoes, onions, cilantro. Delish!!!!! Service very attentive. At times overly so, but we had a good laugh about it. A wonderful dining experience"
Dined on 1/23/2014
Excellent food, and very friendly.
The tables are very small, and the plates are very large. An awkard combination . If we had ordered more, there would be no place to put it!"

I've been to spice symphony 3
times. The first two times were amazing and I couldn't stop telling people about it. The food delicious. The service amazing. I really feel as if the staff cared about your meal and they were very conscious of the level of spice in your dish. This last time however is making me debate about going back or not. I always order the chicken vindaloo. It's always spicy but not to the point where you can't enjoy it. This time it felt as if the dish was missing something. It definitely was not spicy, and that's the whole point of ordering a vindaloo dish. Usually we LOVE the garlic naan. This time it was cold and tasted like raw garlic."

Went to this spice symphony before
seeing kinky boots and just loved this place. The food was outstanding- we ordered things we could not get anywhere else (and could not make ourselves) all tasted great and had just enough spice. The owner waited on us and told us all about his food helping us make good choices. The atmosphere was just as great as the food-small dining room /tables (but this is New York City!) Wish I had this place back home -Washington DC_"

If you want spicy and great food,
that is the place!!"
Dined on 12/20/2013
Good food, nice service but
nothing exceptional that would compel me to come back."
Dined on 12/16/2013
Went with a group and we really
enjoyed it. We stuck to the Indian portion of the menu and the food was excellent - our favs were palak paneer, shrimp briyani, and chicken vindaloo. The staff was friendly, and service was great. Will definitely go back!"
Dined on 12/12/2013
A cut above the other curry hill
joints. Try the butternut squash soup, sublime."
Dined on 12/5/2013
Wonderfully fresh, delicious
Indian/Chinese food at very reasonable prices. An under appreciated gem!"
Dined on 12/4/2013
The key is the greeting at the
door Prem & Jude were splendid in their hospitality and charm to make us feel comfortable prior to being seated at the table The restaurant is well done and just the right amount of seats. We had a few drinks at the bar which were served very quickly The wine pairing by Chad was excellent and showed keen interest in the right food combination While the quality of food was impeccable so was the presentation. Certainly a place to visit again"

Well since you can't officially
give 1/2 stars, I put it in I was a bit hesitant and wasn't sure if my entire party would enjoy it. So it was a party of 7 women, some love Indian food and some have never had it before. To my surprise By the end of the night everyone was thoroughly pleased w/ their food. The not so great side of Symphony: customer service sucked lemons! Our waiter was completely overwhelmed w/ our party of 7. It became so annoying, the manager stepped in to assist. We were not demanding.... Fill a water glass and get the orders right... Isn't that the basic service creed of waiters?? Ps: the bartender is not that great If it wasn't for the final two issues, this would have been a solid 5 stars."

I needed to find a place to catch
up with girlfriends on a lunch hour and one that wouldn't break our pockets but has good food. Great variety, delicious food and perfect portions! This was perfect...and I plan to go back again & again."
Dined on 11/20/2013
We are repeat customers. The food
and the service are both impeccable. A must for Indian food lovers."

It would be easy to miss this
little restaurant, however missing it would be a mistake. The food was excellent. I would especially recommend the salt and pepper shrimp. Loved the intimate size and enjoyed every morsel."

Spice Symphony made me a hero! I
was put in charge of finding the restaurant for a group of 6 foodies. I took to my iPad and did some research, then found an opening at Spice at the perfect time on a Friday night! From beginning to end it was a stellar experience . Our table was waiting for us, cocktails came swiftly, followed by a complimentary amuse bouche. Our server helped us order an array of appetizers to share and we were drooling over each of them, shrimp, mushrooms, chicken lollipops, etc.. We also shared entrees. Everything we tried was so yummy. I was getting high fives all around. The spices were perfect. You must try the pistachio and cheese dessert. Wow! Definitely our best meal in the city..we were here for 5 nights."

We were looking for a nice Indian
restaurant and this one was nearby and open late. Glad we took the chance. The menu had a good selection of various Indian cooking styles as well as Chinese The food was very good and flavorful with ample portion sizes. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend Spice Symphony and would dine here again."
Dined on 10/12/2013
Service was excellent and fast;
the chef and servers were friendly and helpful. The amuse bouche was a nice way to begin the meal. Found the place through the NYT and glad we tried it. My 9 year old son loved the food and wants to return."
Dined on 10/5/2013
Spice Symphony's menu offers a
fusion of Indian and Chinese, in a nice setting with an eager staff that really cares about the food - and wants you to have a great meal. The wine lists offers numerous half bottles, a nice option. Dinner starts with an amuse bouche, letting you know the kitchen is serious about what comes next. Lots of great and inventive options from the Indian and Chinese sides of the menu. Almost everything is good. For dessert, the rice pudding was a standout."
Dined on 10/2/2013
We loved it. The lunch specials
were delicious and inexpensive."
Dined on 9/28/2013
I give this place six months max.
They are going to have to make massive improvements in both food and service once they can no longer lure customers past the initial "Food Network Chef" draw. There are literally hundreds of fantastic Indian Restaurants in NYC and the region that cook and serve superb, fresh, high quality Indian cuisine, which unfortunately this Restaurant did not even come close to matching!"
Dined on 9/21/2013
Just when you have tried all types
of Indian food, you come across Spice Symphony, which melds traditional Indian foods against the backdrop of Chinese spices and preparations. Some work better than others, but the overall experience is delicious. The appetizers work particularly well and I would suggest trying as many of them as possible. Service is very helpful without hovering. A great find in an area of more traditional Indian restaurants."
Dined on 9/2/2013
We were a party of 8 and whikle
service was a bit slow to start, our waiter did a great job recommending dishes and heklping us with orders for the table. Place is small and noise level is a bit high but food was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and quality of food was superb. True gem."
Dined on 8/27/2013
I enjoyed my food very much. I
ordered appetizers in order to try more things. The vegetable korma $7 and vegetable rice $5 were enough for two full meals, so, excellent value, and they tasted great. But our waiter refused every request. When I asked about vegan entrees, he said he'd tell me later, then didn't. When we asked to be served the next dish before I had finished my soup, we weren't. When we asked for the check, we waited and waited, and had to ask twice. When we first came in at 6:10 we were the only people in the place. Someone was mopping the floor so it reeked of disinfectant; they should do that earlier. By 7:00 it had filled up and become too noisy to bear. I would recommend highly for takeout, not dine in."
Dined on 8/26/2013
Food and service were top notch -
best in the area. We will be back soon with friends!"
Dined on 8/24/2013
Maybe because I live in Queens,
I'm spoiled by the superb restaurants we have here - both Indian and Chinese. Spice Symphony was just OK, a little noisy, portions rather small. I don't think I'd go back nor would I recommend it to friends who love to eat."
Dined on 8/21/2013
Our server made superb
recommendations not only about the dishes to select, but also the portion-size and numbers of dishes to order"
Dined on 8/21/2013
Even if we had booked a table in
advance our table was not ready when we arrived, and we where 5 minutes late. Then we had to wait for the menues for another 10 minutes. And the food took around 1 hour to prepare. They said if was cause they did everything on cratch back in the kitchen, and sure the food was good!, but still, an hour. So don't go hungry."
Dined on 8/19/2013
This place has remarkable food!
Every dish was delicious and the service was friendly, professional. They went above and beyond to make it a memorable experience -- from a culinary and service perspective. They just need a bigger space to accommodate the crowds that are gathering at the front door!"
Dined on 8/16/2013
first visit to this restaurant,
came here for a business lunch. place was only half full, but noise level was already fairly loud. Service was ok, food was less than ok. chicken felt like it had been sitting in the pot for a few hours, not very spicy, and portions were small."
Dined on 8/15/2013
if you can get over the
disorganized (but well meaning) service you'll find delicious, well spiced food"
Dined on 8/14/2013
The combining of Indian and
Chinese recipes yields a delicious result. Lamb with chilies was spicy and replete with fresh vegetables. Paratha was the best I've had. Lettuce wraps were extremely fresh."
Dined on 8/12/2013
We were a large group. Food was
great, service was slow. There was only one waiter working the entire dining room."
Dined on 8/2/2013
That's what I was looking for the
evening I went, and that's what I got. Good Indian food, not much atmosphere, service just OK. Important thing--the food was good."
