Spice MarketA trip to the far EastEverything we ordered on this "Disney ride" was excellent, especially the chicken samosas, beef fried rice and thai basil cocktails.
Sitting at the bar, each dish came out "when ready" as they often do from wok kitchens. Our bar staff kept our plates and silverware fresh and our Chinese beer flowing.
WARNING - don't order the ginger margarita. It comes in the worlds smallest rock glass and literarily has 2 ounces of beverage. I thought I was on candid camera when he put the drink in front of me.
We came in from the 9th avenue patio entrance and were harassed by the staff outside, but once we broke the gauntlet, everything was fine. The manager even stopped by the bar to check on our food. RARE, but great gesture.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is an experience. From the time you enter the spice market you feel like you have been transported to another country, the architecture is stunning and the staff is dressed appropriately; but the real adventure starts with the food. We had four in our party and everyone was amazed at the quality of the food. The waitress was extremely knowledgeable regarding the wine list and made excellent recommendations to pair with their spicy foods. The duck is magnificent! Best meal of the trip.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceAmbiance and decor were pleasant and soothing, service was attentive without being overly solicitous and the food was delicious. The price of the meal with drinks and dessert was reasonable. I like that food is served family style as we are adventurous eaters and we all like to try a little of each item.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMexotic placeyou fell that you are in some place at the far east6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was very good as always,Food was very good as always, but we had an early Father's Day sitting at 6:00 p.m. and were rushed out the door. The waiter would not let us stagger our order of appetizers first and then entrees. And, our entrees arrived before we finished our appetizers.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSticks outSpice Market really offers something different from the general restaurants. They have some really interesting dishes and as they are well put together in menu (or as tapas), you get to taste a lot of different and interesting dishes.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMtasting menu and matched winesGreat food & good variety in tasting menu. fair size portions.
Unfortunately none of of our wine or side dishes arrived in time for the matched food.6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFoodgasmI cannot believe my husband and I took so long to try this restaurant. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be back! A great place to share food in groups, but also a romantic feel and decor for couples.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMReturning customerBeen to spice market every time we've been in NY. Never dissapointing. Great food and good service.
Would highly recommend the place for anyone who like great food and great ambience.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went there for second timeWe went there for second time with my husband, 19 yr old and 16 yr old. In a word, "YUM!!". Everything was great, everyone was happy. My son said it was one of the best meals he'd ever had (we take our kids to many nice restaurants) We got the halibut, lobster, curried duck, and a few apps. I'm a very healthy eater and generally stick to fish and whole grains. I couldn't stop eating the duck my son ordered because the sauce was sooo good. Splurged and got the sticky rice (I usually opt for brown). Worth every bite. Staff was great! Definitely don't miss out on this great restaurant!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMlikedVery nice experience. White tablecloth experience, yet casual and fun. Love the open windows and decor.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMALWAYS A HIT!It is rare that you can go to the same restaurant 10 times and ALWAYS enjoy yourself, but that's SPICE Market. Great food and atmosphere!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for Date Night!!Great Decor, Awesome Staff and Phenomenal Food......Perfect for Date Nights. The music was not to loud and the drinks were perfect.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome restaurantTook 2 customers from Australia with me, we know good food and wine and this place was exceptional ..... the Cod with Malaysian Chilli sauce and thai basil dish was a standout and exquisite.....as was the crispy pork belly + tamarind salad ad also the Hamachi Sashimi!
awesome, wish i lived in NYC ........6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous! Most difficult thing about dining here is deciding what to order! So many excellent dishes on menu of Asian street food gone gourmet. Chili-rubbed skewered beef with basil sauce uses excellent meat; wild mushroom egg rolls with galangal emulsion are a different take on the egg roll; sauces really elevate dishes. Avocado & radish salad--delicious with hints of sesame oil and cHinese mustard, but addition of perfectly tempura-fried onion rings on top makes it Gorgeous too. Seafood laksa--coconut cream and curry flavored broth is fantastic; its gulf shrimp were huge & perfectly cooked. Service is excellent. Only tiny complaint is being asked to wait in the bar while the hostess decided where to seat us in the half-empty restaurant at 5pm.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal had this yearEverything we ordered was so flavorful - from the ginger margarita to the crispy pork belly with a side garnish of dressed cilantro.
I can't wait for my next trip to NYC so i can dine here again and introduce it to my husband. We absolutely loved it! My friend, who was visiting NYC for the first time, said it was the highlight of the trip.
The service was flawless with the waitstaff smartly attired in saffron colored uniforms.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMDeliciousThe food at Spice Market was outstanding. The wings are very spicy, but with great flavor.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Asian fusion and ambienceVery speci al place and delicious food, for dinner with your special one or with friends. Staff is friendly, helpful and attentive, however, several persons sometimes get confusing as showed by our wineglasses being removed and replaced 3 times. We can definately recommend the place!!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat! It was a rainy afternoon but the atmosphere inside the restaurant was very nice! The food very well made and tasty! The combination of French technique with Asian ingredients resulted in a formidable experience ! Congratulations!
Everything was delicious! The appetizer Shrimp Tod Mon Pla and the chiken curry were perfect.
I'll came back soon.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMInsist for Almonds with Old-spice..I was invited on a date/dinner at Spice Market about three years ago for the first time. I liked everything about Spice Market from food and ambience to friendly service providers. I enjoy dinning out a lot although my hectic school/work schedule did not allow me to visit NYC for the last two years until last Wednesday for my graduation dinner. Otherwise, as a resident of Central New Jersey, I like coming into the city and finding a nice place to have a brunch, lunch and/or dinner on the weekends. I would like to say that Spice Market is awesome for many occasions; especially, if you want to impress your date, guest, and family.
Sincerely,
Rumeli6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have the tasting meny withWe have the tasting meny with selected wine meny and all was super, food was very good and the wine was great to the food.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThailand at it's realistHonestly, I forgot i was in the meat packing district. I thought I was in Thailand.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a small private roomWe had a small private room with a table and benches surrounded by pillows...we were a party of 5. Excellent service and the food was great. I think a larger party is better as the food is served "family style" and having a larger group allows for more extensive tasting of all the delicious options.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMfoodwe were amezed when we came in. The whole ambience was great and all fits.
The food, we he the taste menu, we found it sometimes to spicy!
Time between the served dishses was to short!

Ceciel Sanders6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Nice FindSpice Market has been on my list to try for quite sometime. Glad I had the chance to go. We had the spiced chicken samosas to start. They were excellent. My friend and I shared the Crispy Pork Belly Tamarind Salad, the Short Ribs with noodles and vegetable rice. All were cooked and seasoned well. The meats were very tender. I would definitely go back. It would be nice to go with a big group of friends so that you can try more dishes.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSpice Market still spicySpice Market still has it going on. The food and service is quite impeccable. The food is tasty, flavorful and offers many choices. The waiter was pleasant, knowledgeable and didn't rush our party at all. She suggested many options for those in our party not into hot/spicy foods. She altered many of the starters to accommodate our party of four as well.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service, great ambienceOur party of 6 was seated in a gorgeous private room with pillows- very comfortable and intimate. Service was excellent. All of us enjoyed the food which was different in a good way. All dishes are shared which added to the fun. The only down side is the cost, but I guess that is what you have to pay to dine with the in crowd.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMfun scene, good food, poor serviceThis would have been a great night if we had had a better server. The scene was fun, we enjoyed the food but our server was rude, inattentitive and impatient. Since it was a family style restaurant we asked his advice about ordering. We ended up having to order 5 more things in addition as we were still starving. He never came back to check on us, we had to order additional food from others passing by.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsEvery time I visit I try something else on the menu and I am always satisfied with my selection. The dishes have a lot of flavor but are never too spicy and there's a lot of variety on the menu, although vegetarians have many fewer choices. Serving is family style so it makes sense to share. There are a number of dishes that are good for the "calorie-conscious" (though not in the desert section). All around an enjoyable dining experience (though the noise level made it difficult to carry on a conversation without raising our voices).5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommended by a friend andRecommended by a friend and the restaurant did not disappoint. Maine Lobster was succulent and so tasty, menu was inventive and service was outstanding. Noise levels could be a problem for some but certainly felt very vibrant and alive. A challenge to maintain standards after being open for a number of years - no problem for this restaurant !5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMReviewWe had a nice evening with gread food, but the tables are too small for 2 and the music is really too loude.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMFun eveningFood well seasoned and creative- some great flavor profiles. Service efficient but aloof. Pandan cake with coconut ice cream incredible. Bar is terrible- you can't order a drink bc of the way the seats/canopy intersect. Loud but fun atmosphere.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome at meatpacking districtVery nice restaurant with asiatic touch in a hip area in NYC.
Very good food and winelist, friendy staff and a nice place to have a dinner with friends.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely will go backDelicious food and a a great vibe! My husband ordered the Fixed Prix and I would definitely suggest at least one person to get that. Coursers meant to share and it gives you lots of courses to experience. All very good!!! i ordered a fish and it was very good also.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect dinner! We had no plans this evening, and was lucky to get table on a resturante we heard so much about. Spice market! Beautiful location and atmospher. Perfect food and service:)
And the best of all: Ginger Margeritha!!!!!!
Thank you for having us, we'll return:)5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic dinner and very deliciousI took my husband to the Spice Market t celebrate his birthday. I was looking for a nice place that had just as much ambiance as it did good food. Spice Market was a perfect choice. It has gorgeous decor, the food was stupendous and the drinks very tasty. To be honest we were stuffed by the time our entree arrived. I would defiantly recommend this place for a birthday, romantic dinner, group dinner or just to treat yourself.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful atmosphere

The ambiance is great. It reminds me of a Thai Palace5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing place!Spice Market is a fusion dining experience. Amazing place, gorgeous food, great atmosphere, fantastic service. Really special place with wonderful fusion food! We had a fantastic night and our waiter was superb! The beef skewers are to die for!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDelight! The Spice Market Restaurant is located in the charming Meatpacking District in Manhattan.
Their menu offers authentic pleasure of contrasts between the exotic and unique flavors of sauces and spices Vietnamese and Thai.
Colored artifacts decorate the generous interior, with halls and rooms arranged on two levels, including sculptures, lamps, fiber and red curtains.
Intimate lighting, sound stylish lounge.
Capitone sofas white leather mingle with pieces typically Oriental, Chinese porcelain and much carved wood.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday at Spice Market restGreat place for celebration....good for group; wide selection and good service.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful evening!what a great evening at this spectacular place in the meatpacking district.
Excellent food.
Outstanding service.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were told try this placeWe were told try this place by some people in Dallas. The place was great . The food was wonderful. The restaurant had a very energetic vibe. I would recommend to anybody who wants a good time with good food that visits New York.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLove it!Love it! Always on my list. keep returning every time I visit NY.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for larger partiesLoved the fact that you could book a table for 10 directly on OpenTable. Much easier than calling the restaurant when living in Europe. We liked the food and the hip surroundings but service was a bit slow.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe BestI have been going to Spice Market for the past 3-4 years and it never fails to satisfy me. Beautiful decor, good food, incredibly reasonable prices and decent service. A must go to!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at spice market.First time at spice market. Ambience and food were great. Service was fair, a little disappointing. One diner's entree was served much later than all the other dishes..we went to kitchen staff to inquire and then it did arrive...no one came by to check if things were ok...so, altho' service was mediocre, food was superb..decor is gorgeous. The room we had for the group was a perfect location away from central dining room, very comfortable, beautiful interior decor. Chicken samosa was the best of our 4 appetizers. Duck curry and pork vindaloo were outstanding, and ginger rice very, very tasty. Would go back just for that.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLively with very good food and wineWe chose the tasting menu with wine pairing. All dishes were very good or excellent, and the wine pairing excellent. Lively, warm and friendly atmosphere; perfect for a couple not wishing romantic exclusiveness but togetherness.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeThe food was excellent, the cocktails were amazing and the atmosphere was great!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
