Spice MarketAlways the TopI keep returning to Spice Market and each time I love it more than the previous visit. It's as if it was my first time.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great dinner withWe had a great dinner with great service. Several of our party were on a flight that came in late and Spice Market was very flexible. Everything was great from the ambience to the food.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! The ambience, the service, the food - everything was lovely! Our waiter was excellent and made the experience even better. Will definitely go back!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMSpice it up for DinnerIf you would like to "Spice it up for Dinner" try the Spice Market.
Great Atmosphere and guaranteed a good time. The Fish is fresh, and one of their specialty dishes is Duck.
All the food was excellent tasting..................................and this is a great place to share with your friends.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNew flavors!Food is fresh with new combinations of different and exotic flavors. Very well done!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food here!We had the tasting menu which was really delicious.
Maybe a little vegetables overall but thats a minor detail.
Great place, nice interior like the old Asian style. We had an fantastic evening!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMuito bomÓtimo restaurante, ambiente lindo, voltaria com certeza!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAwsomeIt was an awesome expirience to dine there! Great food, fantastic athmosphere, exceedingly courteous service!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMReserve a Back Room or Bring Your EThe food was delicious pan Asian street food. We reserved one of the back rooms, the Saigon Room and had our own private couches and "cave" and we are so glad we did. The main dining area was mobbed and so loud at the height of service on a Sat. night. The food was delicious and the service friendly and accommodating.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMJust go..A friend recommended we visit Spice Market while visiting NYC and I am so glad we did. I am still dreaming about the pork buns... Oh my. Food was fantastic, incredible service and great vibe. LOVED IT!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMImpress without breaking the bank! While the Chelsea neighborhood is packed with places to see and be seen, I find Spice Market to be the most impressive place to take guests. The Indian/Thai fusion menu is unlike any other restaurant, and the ambiance makes you feel like you are vacationing in a distant land. Perfect for big groups of all ages, or a romantic dinner. Prices are low by neighborhood standards and quality is extraordinary. Everything is so delicately spiced, and plenty of mild dishes to please everyone at the table.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMerrol's reviewGreat food, ambiance and music.. Spice Market could be a reason to visit New York...5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service less goodAs a group of 7, we had delicious food at Spice Market and were seated (without requesting) in a private booth, which was great. The staff cooked special noodles for my two kids and were helpful - however, there were so many different servers that they ended up having a communication problem and bringing an extra bowl of noodles, for which we were then charged. When we pointed it out, the server refused to accept it was their mistake at first! It was eventually rectified but the mistake rather spoiled the end of the evening. They were also slow to collect the bill, having been very attentive earlier on.
I would recommend the food to anyone, but the restaurant needs to make sure their servers communicate with one another.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat restaurantI will be back; the food was delicious and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery niceThe food was different and tasty. We did have to wait half an hour after the time we'd booked to be seated, but the atmosphere is good so we didn't really mind the wait.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is fantastic!Great asian fusion. Evertytng we ordered was packed with flavor. The ginger margarita is a must try.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHot SpotThis was not my first time @Spice market. I try to visit the restaurant at least twice a year, especially on my Birthday! This was my opportunity to introduce my sister and mother to one of favorite New York spot. Let’s just say they LOVED IT!!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall great experienceI will start with the less good things first : as we arrived a bit earlier than our reservation we were redirected to the bar to wait. As there were no places free we decided to sit down at a little table next to the bar. After 15min waiting we finally catched a waiter in order to get something to drink. Unfortunately for us, there where no table service, but you had to order yourself at the bar, struggling through the people sitting already at the bar. Do not be surprised if they keep your credit card at the bar in hostage, as long as your are not sitting at your table.
Nevertheless, once at the table we really enjoyed the experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is romantic an the food was really excellent. I'll recommend it for this.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, beautifullyExcellent food, beautifully presented. Friendly, professional and attentive staff. Lighting was a little too dim to read the menu. Enjoyed it tremendously, as usual, as did our out of town guests.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMMy FavoriteThis is my favorite restaurant in the city. It's pricey, yes. But I literally SAVE UP money to dine here for special occasions. Every single bite is perfection, the service is a well oiled machine, and the ambiance is everything I love about New York City. Steps from the High Line, Spice Market's location makes for a great date night. My husband and I just went for our 7 year wedding anniversary. And I loved every minute of it.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodThe food was wonderful. Negatives were noise level (music was way too loud) and skimpiness of seafood in one of the dishes.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWe waited 45 minutes beyondWe waited 45 minutes beyond as reservation time. Why take a reservation?4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Restaurant in great premises.Nice Restaurant in great premises. Bery tasty food and friendly service.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLoud and fun!I've been here several times. Each time I return I am amazed at the decor and the energy. It is a hot spot that is loud, crowded and fun! Don't go there if you are looking for a quiet place to talk. Go with a group and enjoy great drinks and a vibrant scene. Food is great, just tough to choose - so going with a group is great so you can share dishes. Women - don't wear skinny heels - street outside of restaurant is cobblestone. It is very uneven - wear platforms so you don't break an ankle.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find in the Meat PackingSpice Market was a great recommendation from my boyfriend, who have been there prior. Loved the decor and the food. The staff is attentive, but nothing out of the ordinary. I was there during lunch, and I had the impression that at night it gets busy, specially for its location in the meat packing district. I want to go back.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMUnfortunately most of theUnfortunately most of the food on the menu is too spicy for my palate. However if that's not your issue it's delicious. So many interesting choices.
Good sized servings, nice drinks and wine list and a bit of a theme park atmosphere.
Would be great for 4 or more so that you can sample lots of dishes. I wasn't interested in the main course. It didn't appeal to me so we shared several appetizers. They serve these really tasty crisp "wonton" chips with a type of "salsa" of the east asian persuasion. I'd stay for the chips and be perfectly happy.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery bite was worth the [short]Every bite was worth the [short] wait. Service terrific; good crowd4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place. Amazing foodLove this place. Amazing food that's slways consistent.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA neighborhood gem eventhoughA neighborhood gem eventhough the venue is huge and usually hard to get a reservation for dinner. The pork buns were delicious as well a the pork belly. Love the rainbow chard and cabbage slaw. Dessert could step it up a bit. Was disappointed in the strawberry rhubarb crumble, the pepper on the pistachio ice cream needs to be eliminated. Not the right type of spice! Service is always wonderful!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the seperate littleLoved the seperate little rooms/cubicles for small groups.
I would see this little rooms also to be perfect for a romantic dinner; including the sharing of the plates.
Well done Spice Market!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff were very good aboutThe staff were very good about answering questions we had about the menu. It took some time for them to take the initial order but once they arrived they were attentive. Very nice ambiance which was important to me since I was there for a special occasion. I would definitely return.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBold Flavors With or Without SpiceIf you like spice, this is your place! "Spice," however, does NOT always mean "spicy." Yes, there are certain dishes with the kick of some type of chile or pepper, but other dishes have robust flavors without the kick. That said, the "Black Pepper Shrimp w/Dried Pineapple" is a standout -- it does have a kick, but also the sweet to balance it out. The Ginger Margarita is a nice twist on an old classic, and is a fresh sip in contrast to the big flavors. The noise level is lively, but our seating area was spread in a way that maintained an intimate feel -- love that! I look forward to returning!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was this night as it almostIt was this night as it almost always is, great. The only negative is the size of the round tables for 4 is obscenely small and low.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second time eatingThis was our second time eating here and our opinion is best expressed by saying we cannot wait to return. The menu, including the vegetarian tasting menu, is wonderfully conceived and we tried over 10 dishes -- all were superbly executed. The Asian salad was world class, as was the spicy pork buns and chicken samosas. Service was excellent in every respect -- despite ordering so many dishes the waitstaff paced them in such a way that we were never rushed or presented with multiple dishes at the same time. Good show!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe (my husband and daughter)We (my husband and daughter) look for new restaurants to visit. Spice Market was mentioned on Chopped so we decided to check it out. The first thing that caught my attention on the website is the decor- loved it. We enjoyed the food, our waiter was very hospitable and knowledgeable. My daughter didn't particularly like her main course. It wasn't that it wasn't cooked well it just wasn't her "taste". The dessert was delicious! We will definately visit again.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely a restaurant toAbsolutely a restaurant to go back too. Nice atmosphere, super food and very attentive staff. Was there with visitors from Switzerland and they too were very impressed and will go back next time in NY. We all had the tasting menu which was fun and so delicious.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was the third time at SpiceIt was the third time at Spice Market and I keep on bringing guests here. The food was delicious (tasting menu). The atmosphere is 'lounge' like, and not too formal. I will definately go back again.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMTonight, 4 of us started ourTonight, 4 of us started our meal by sharing 3 appetizers. The Black Pepper shrimp with sun-dried pineapple...AMAZING; the hamachi sashimi was OUTSTANDING; and our final appetizer, the mussels...they were large, tender and melted in your mouth; the broth was WONDERFUL!!!! For our entrees, we ordered the chicken curry, Cod with Malaysian Chili Sauce Thai Basil, Steamed Red Snapper Yuzu Butter with Roasted Baby Carrots, And finally, the last entree was the Striped Bass Wok Fried Napa Cabbage Water Chestnut and Cucumber. Every entree was incredibly delicious. If you don't like very spicy food, be careful of the bass. It was extremely spicy. We all loved our meal and can't wait to go back!!!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingThe food was amazing and the service was outstanding. Would defiantly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting New York. Great Atmosphere.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe experience was fantastic! The experience was fantastic! Not just delish food but the interiour, the music, the whole vibe was thrilling.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a Good ChoiceNo matter when we go to Spice Market we always have a great experience. Recently went for lunch with a large party of out of town friends. They had never been to a restaurant like this. They loved the food and the service was friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. They accomodated our party easily without crowding us. The atmosphere is unique. Their cocktails are exceptional. I like their new sharing of dishes option which was the perfect choice for this particular group. Will return again. I recommend sitting on the main floor near the windows. Put in a special request for that along with your reservation.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent, Fun, AccessibleExcellent fun take on street food. not the exquisite style perfection that JG does at his higher end places, but a very good spot. Do the tasting menu.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice restaurant, withVery nice restaurant, with delicious food and good service. However the music did not correspond with the ambiance in the restaurant - music from Hôtel Costes would have been more appropriate.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI just had dinner at SpiceI just had dinner at Spice Market this past week with my dad who was visiting from out of town. We made a reservation and our table was ready on time when we arrived. It was nice outside so the doors were open and we had a great table by the window. We shared the salmon tartare appetizer and the for entrees we had the short ribs and cod with Malaysian chili sauce. Everything was delicious. Definitely recommend for foodies, out-of-towners or just a fun night out with friends.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had 5 appetizers, 5 entrees,We had 5 appetizers, 5 entrees, 2 desserts for 4 people and were satiated in all senses. A big-league NYC meal and experience that will last. We will be back.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating (our guests'We were celebrating (our guests' 50th Anniversary) and had an excellent time. We ordered 3 main courses and several appetizers and each dish was wonderful. We had the cod, red snapper and short ribs and each was distinctive and delicious. I think the short ribs were the best I've found anywhere. The "family style" food presentation worked very well with our small group - we agreed upon the selection of dishes and shared all - and it added to the feeling of celebration. Service was outstanding; the waitress answered all our questions, offered suggestions when we asked for them, and was very attentive, but not overbearing. We arrived early, stayed quite a long time, and though the crowd was building we were never rushed to leave.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe eat wonderfull and it wasWe eat wonderfull and it was a great experience. It was a trip to Asia and we never forget it !
Thanks for this beautiful moment in NYC.
