  • Parking Details: Discounted parking is available for the main dining room of Spiaggia in the One Magnificent Mile building (entrance on northwest corner of Walton and Michigan, just west of Michigan Avenue) at 120 E. Walton.
    From there, the elevator can be taken up to Level 2. An additional parking option is located in the building directly across the street at 1000 N Lake Shore Drive.

  • "Unlike every single time I have been to Spiagga as for many, many years, I was disappointed. When I was in Chicago a year ago, I went for dinner, had a delightful waiter and great food. It was not inexpensive but was well worth every penny. From the table I was texting my friends about how wonderful it was. Until last week, that had always been my experience there. Last Saturday all four of us thought our waiter was not very nice, sort of snotty and pretentious. W thought the whole entire thing was pretentious. I find it a complete turn-off when a menu says something like "chlorophyll" instead od lettuce or greens. The entire menu was full of descriptions like that. What a joke! Just tell it like it is."

  • "Food was just OK. Nothing I put in my mouth made me say "wow." Everything tasted fine but not delicious. Very bland. Portions are so tiny you will need a second meal after dining here. I was told this is the best Italian restaurant in the city but definitely not. Unless someone else is paying for your dinner, skip it."

  • "A person me and my wife met recommended us Spiaggia cafe but we ended up at the restaurant not realizing the Cafe was next door. The service by the staff was very good and pleasant but really the food was way overpriced and not of our liking at all. Also the menu choices were very limited and hard to understand. We had overall a very good dining experience in most of our trip un chicago except in this restaurant mainly for the food taste, portions and ridiculous price. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying good money for a good dinner but this definitely wasn't our style at all. The service was very good though but then again is the least you could expect for such high prices. The location and ambiance was good just not the food."

  • "Spiaggia lived up to its reputation on our last visit. Food was top notch - gnocchi and foie gras ravioli were both some of the better pasta dishes I've had. Nothing too special about the bread/crisps before the meal, but the gamberi and desserts were also flavorful and interesting. Service was extremely attentive, only qualm would be the slight pushiness to order an additional third course when all we ordered was pasta due to not being extremely hungry. Finally, the ambiance is great - good work on the refurbished, light interior and of course the views through the huge windows were perfect on a Saturday evening."

  • "It was a special occasion. The ambience was lovely, the service was excellent, but the food was a great disappointment. Especially, the Miyazaki Wagyu entree was not even close to Japanese standard beef quality. Since we enjoyed Miyazaki Wagyu very much on our last visit, we looked forward to trying it again. But it was completely disappointing. We visit Japan once a year and enjoy excellent beef from different regions, like Kobe beef, Matsuzaka beef, Hida-gyu...etc. I really didn't think the beef you labelled Miyazaki Wagyu was authentic at all. You should keep your standard much higher than what you provide now, especially given the prices you charge!"

The portions are modest which allows you to order multiple courses and experience simply amazing tastes. Excellent wine recommendations from our server. First time in Chicago, we picked a restaurant from a web-ad, with plans for a quick meal and a play. Once we stepped foot in Spiaggia - experienced their artistry, elegance and craft - we dropped the play like a hot potato! Newly remodeled, Spiaggia's sleek, modern edginess dances with spacious openness, courtesy of a glass wall facing the park and water. Their creative, adventurous, diverse fare, artful presentation, informed, charming (adorable) staff, and unadulterated opulence made the evening the best dining experience- and anniversary celebration- we've ever had!   • "We were visiting Chicago for a few days, and Spiaggia was highly recommended to us. It was absolutely superb! We had the eight-course tasting menu, and all the courses were excellent. From the small cup of fresh pea soup, served as an amuse bouche, to the generous portion of lobster with watermelon appetizer, to the foie gras ravioli with uni, to the entree of suckling pig, to the assortment of desserts that are beyond description, it was an epicurean experience. One of the finest meals we've ever experienced at a restaurant. The cocktails were also perfect, and the service was impeccable. If there were a ten star rating I'd give Spiaggia ten stars."

  • "The new décor is very nice. We were given a choice table on the upper tier. The service started off exceptional, but became sporadic and indifferent. The menu is very limited with only five entrees to choose from. The portions were small in relation to the prices. Some dishes were outstanding and others were just ok. Two in our party ordered the veal chop ($65 each). They were huge, but not good quality meat and had very little taste. Very disappointing. The prices on the wine list are outrageously expensive, so we opted for cocktails. We still had a nice dinner, but I was expecting over-the-top food and service and was disenchanted with our overall experience."

  • "Some of the servers were a little stuffy - correcting my pronunciation, answering questions about the food as if I were stupid ("What sort of olive oil is this?" "We add glycerine to thicken it." "OK, but what kind is it? The olive flavor is nice and strong." "Oh, it's olive oil." Eventually, he explained that it's specially bottled in Italy for the restaurant and can be ordered through their site.) Some of the servers, and especially the sommelier, were more fun. Most bottles of wine cost over $200, but are very nice. Food was delicious, although I could do without the servers reciting the menu descriptions of the dishes as they are delivered. I do remember what I ordered. Desserts were perfect and entirely worth ordering."

I had seen the cafe menu, but when I booked online the reservation was for the restaurant. I should have been at the cafe.   • "My husband and I dined here for our 13th wedding anniversary, which we have done on 3 other anniversaries during the course of our marriage. While Spiaggia is consistently phenomenal and truly one of our favorite restaurants in a city full of great ones - the recent renovation and revised menu and their more artistic food presentation - make this my new favorite place in the city. The decor is both gorgeous, sophisticated and insightful. The service and wait staff and sommelier were all super friendly, cool, knowledgable and top top notch. They are not pretentious at all. Which makes for a great vibe. I never write a review for anything...but I have to say, we were blown away. It was perfection and fun and romantic! Thank you to them!!"

  • "Spiaggia used to be such a special occasion restaurant. It definitely has seen better days. They no longer require such a formal dress code--which I think totally detracts from the dining experience. If you are going to spend upwards of $200/person on a meal, you kind of don't want to see other patrons walking in with windbreakers and jeans. Plus, Spiaggia does not use table cloths, so that also took away from the fine dining experience. All of the above notwithstanding, the most disappointing part of Spiaggia was the food itself. Everything was WAY TOO SALTY!!! I had the primavera salad, gnocchi, & turbot. None of the dishes were palatable at all. They offered to comp the entree, but we paid, knowing that we will never go back."
