That said, I wasn't convinced that the bar was sufficiently above its peers to justify the inflated prices. The ambiance was great; the waiters were attentive; however, the food wasn't such a revelation as to justify $30 on antipasti and primi—to say nothing of the $17 dessert. We had the prix fixe menu with wine pairings and it was flawlessly served and the food was beautiful and delicious. Be prepared to spend a lot of money but it is worth it. Men must were jackets which helps create a very nice ambiance and is respectful to the women who always try harder than most of the sloppy men.

Wine list was very very pricey. Gelato was a must-have, and cheese selection was excellently paired with honey. Service was top notch but not stuffy. Attentive service, exceptional food (my favorite was the guitar string squid ink pasta with lobster claw meat and the most delicate cream sauce), an outstanding wine list and a view overlooking Lake Michigan and Michigan Avenue. The hardest part was making selections from the menu with so many outstanding choices. Our waiter was very helpful with making selections and food pairings with the hefty wine list.

The service was not so great, it took over 45 min to get the server to take our order, and being a 4 course meal it took 30 mins between courses, we were at the restaurant for over 4 hours which was ok because the company we were in was great so it was not such a terrible thing.

Pasta tasting menu was divine - as we're the beverage pairs. From beginning to end the staff were attentive and knowledgable. Basil-ricotta rolls should not be missed from the bread plate offering. Give Atkins a night off - you'll be glad you did. On our way out we stopped to watch the chefs prepare and plate three dishes. Their artful coordination and professional handling of their tools and food was impressive. And, the kitchen IS SPOTLESSLY CLEAN. It was a final bit of confirmation; evidence of a well run establishment. Generally good service, but some gaffes justify the three stars. Wine alert - the wine list has some amazing wines but very little that is reasonably priced and most of the gems are too young. For example, why would someone pay $800 for a bottle of Barolo that is nowhere near approachable? Also considering what you're paying, the wine service was weak. Service though, can be spotty at times. For example, during this dinner, we were efficiently shown to our table but then we were left there for 15 minutes - no offer of a menu, water, or drinks. We just sat there. It is one of my pet peeves so I got up to complain when one of the head service staff noticed and duly got our table going. Perhaps a miscommunication but this type of lapse should never happen at an establishment like this. The other pet peeve is the "jackets required".
